  1. Doesn't have the mental discipline to play AFL, back page of The West yesterday. Kickett going to mentor him, but his quote was "i'll see if I can" knuckle down etc Not "I am knuckling down" to get my career on track etc....basically he wont be back for a few years if at all.
  2. Great article and just shows how important his choice in joining us is. While we had a crap year, he knows and see's the inside running and what is in place and like what he heard and saw. The reports of his active involvement around training and continued passion means we must be on the right track in his view as well, otherwise he would have left us already. Raising the standards and professionalism and parting with those that wouldn't or couldn't adapt to the new regime. He has his faults but on professionalism and hard work he ranked with the best.
  3. Why would she use the term Forfeiting. While one posters says i "means to surrender." In my footy world when you forfeit, it means you couldn't get a team together and the other side wins by default. In WA amateurs, you get a 100pt and the forfeiting team gets 1 for percentage purposes. We never forfeited as we fielded teams in all those games.
  4. Did Johnny lose that court case when a fan sued him as she spent the last of her money at one point ot see him for the "last time" and the he kept touring.
  5. An point that hasn't been mentioned is this: "The latest profit was achieved despite the club increasing their football department spending by $1.674 million this year. The latest profit was achieved despite the club increasing their football department spending by $1.674 million this year." If we had maintained the same football department skills/resources as last year we would have made a $1.5m profit in real terms. So yes overall we did improve this year despite a low book profit. What I am more interested in is our turnover for the year? Anyone know?
  6. I cant compare but subi plays annoying music during breaks...I like the noise of the stadium not some god awful sound out of $2 speakers. Sports that resort to such events usually means they are boring to watch, ie basketball
  7. The AFL can maintain control by not registering players to play in their comp. If a player makes to much of a stink, kick them out and let another take their place, we'll lose some talent but long term the system will remain. The only alternative for the players is to set up a rival competition which would be very unlikely given what is required to run the AFL today. Also players will realise that a free market system only benefits a few, as to pay the top the middle/bottom must take less as money isn't infinite, its not even infinite in the EPL, if you look how broke the big clubs really are. I understand that Judd's deal outside the cap will need to be counted when renewed, it doesn't stop him having just Carltank needs to adhere to the same rules as everyone else. I don't know why they would complain, Judd will still get his money! So the agenda is being pushed by Carltank..so let them suck...now just to bring the Swans into line with all the other clubs.
  8. Yes he is....nah it was just a piece sent across from Victoria..all film footage. I gues folow up from the newspaper article.
  9. It also got a run on the ch10 news here in Perth..a positive Dee's new story.
  10. Good to see the standard and expectation was set high...
  11. Moe then likely after a poor half of the season, it was most likely raised that it was shot and we might as well aim for draft pics as whats the point of a few pointless wins. The question is how that was expressed in the meeting. Because at the start of the year the club goes through the fixture identifying and rate the difficulty of games. And they build a picture on how many they can realistically win as a base. Maybe this is what happened in the meeting. Not tanked but said we could get a bonus pick, which of the remaining games are we likely to win! But good on him, since he is central and never instructed any player to lose. As such an instruction has bot been stated once by any report so face, the definition of Tanking by the AFL puts us in the clear.
  12. So many players but to pick just one...Flower. The only truly super elite player I have seen in the Red and Blue. I they didnt share the Victoria state captaincy he would have been captain every year he played. He was magical to watch and even today i doubt anyone could tag him out of a game. As stated could play all over the field and loved the MCG erupt when he got the ball in one of our darkest days...
  13. While those articles are primarily aimed at us, they are now talking about Libber and fev statements of their tanking...how they tanked more obviously than us. So we may and hopefully see the media drag in carltank which leaves the afl in an interesting place. And if players had been instructed to lose, we would have heard about it long before now. As players aren't that smart and such gossip spreads quickly, especially given the attention form the media, and the fact it was not mentioned before boofhead's comments, then I'll say it wasn't instructed to the players. As for the meeting, who knows. It may have been...there are x games left we are heading for a priority pick, what games do you think we can win? The question is what was discussed after that...was it a formal meeting or at the water cooler meeting and just thoughts. Given we leak like the titanic any such "secret" meetings would have been out also long before now.
  14. the problem is talent does not equal success...the club felt that gys didn't have what it needed.
  15. Never forgiven Gys for screwing up from dreamteam so he can go Actually I like Gys but we need mature bodies and Pedersen only didn't get a game because North have always have a lot of big blokes. Whether it was a good trade time will tell.
  16. But greeny was never a crummier and couldn't dance the way rodan does.
  17. as said its pick 88. He brings epxerience to the club in a specialist role which we haven't has someone in for years and suck really bad at. Whether the plays 23 ro2 games he'll be involved in teacher our kids how to play that position. win/win for the short term.
  18. Gossip, some say more from the ABC in Adelaide is the Tippett deal is big and off the record. To the point that Tippet may be fined, extensive band or deregistered as a player for breaching the rules. Also its going to affect more than Tippett including his manager etc, its a big story.
  19. I was just going to write: "So it begins..." Spot on, another saviour for the club. Its great to have hope but lets the kids develop that way you wont be crushed if they turn out a different style of player.
  20. After reading the red fox you can see why he left and even offered to resign to let RDB take over. RDB wanted to be his own coach and not have the problems of the previous coaches looking over his shoulder like Smith did with Checker hughes, read the book and you'll know what I meant. Even smith coached elsewhere before he returned. The problem was we didn't grab his back after Carlton when he was at his peak of coaching, like at North he would have taken advantage of the short lived 10 yr rule to get us a flag. Which interesting was like modern FA RDB used the same tactic at the Dee's and then Swans to bring in experience and proven players to bolster an unsuccessful club culture till that time. Interestely you can see the parallels with Neeld know and the last two trade periods. Bring in experienced players from great and successful footy cultures to change the club.
  21. The most disappointing thing more than leaving the club is losing a great player to injury which we seem to have gotten a lot. Stinga - massive loss for the club and imagine if he could have lined up in the 2000 GF side. The OX - yes he came back but those that saw him pre-95 knee reconstruction, knows what we lost. Lyon - career cut short by injury, further aggravated by flying in a tiny plane to bring farmer back. Paul Prymke (Not sure on the spelling) - see him in 94 young great CHB/fullback, degenerative back injury. Glenn Lovett - done in my soft tissue in injuries. Jako - bad back (combined with laziness) That period from 95 should have been golden but decimated by injury... the spine would have been Jacko, Ox, Stynes/White, Nietz, Prymke, aand Lyon as mr fixit wherever required or at FF. then combined with Yze, Stinga, Woey, Powell, Johnstone, Robbo, Febey's, farmer, etc... of what could have been
  22. It was at the end of Northey's time so i don't think that was the reason considering how long it played under him. The trouble with Spalding was he always missed the goals we needed. To say he was a wayard kick is being nice. Think of richo on a bad day Woey should have stayed but it was the salary cap pressure. If he was at the club today as he would be given a role..and given his professionalism would have done very well. As for Geread Healy. A [censored] who left purely for money at a time when his skills would have been the icing on the cake as we rose up the ladder finally.
