  1. Pedersen basically couldn't get a game because all the abundance of talls North have, unlike us!
  2. All presidents need to retire at some time and he's been a great servant of his club. The concern from the article is the level of debt. According to Gordon they are currently $10m in debt..thats double where our peaked and we saw how that affected the club.
  3. I doubt that is the plan forone, Hogan cant play next year anyway. Pederson was a mature age that cant get a game due to North abundant talls, and is a money ball type pickup. Dawes is the monster forward to we need to create a contest in the forward line. I think Clark is far more mobile and agile than dawes. Also the two older players bring experience and maturity to the club which we need. role models from successful cultures.
  4. Pie wont want to keep him.. He's disgruntled and having just resigned on pretty good coin after the premiership year. They'll move him on with a bit of fuss like wellingham. As for dawes himself we are not trying to get a 1 grade monster forward. but a hard working monster to contest in the forward line which we havem't had since Neitz retired. Look how well Clark played once we was with us, far better than at Brisbane IMHO...
  5. we i had a chat to JW he told me he played most of his junior footy on the wing. Only really played forward during those tac games.
  6. just a pump up by his manager...i agree a rookie spot somewhere. Blaming the coach for a lack of ticker is not going to help. If he had the desire and work he would have got a debut.
  7. Rivers was never a certain to leave. more the case of being a free agent and seeing what was on offer, plus seeing what happens over the trade period and how rosey the future looks.
  8. That right, but wouldn't it have been easier just to write two versions each with the different pick we got him for The club said in one of the articles after the picks that they would have taken Viney at 3 if required. Great to have him at the club and he'll become part of the heart of the club in the near future if all the reports are true. PLus he'll be first picked in my dreamteam for 2013...
  9. Great article and we'll welcome him tomorrow whether 1st rd or 2rd...
  10. pretty much sums it up. It would be great to get him for a 2nd round pick, but we committed to him for 5 years, 3 years ago. So its pretty obvious we'll be taking him at 3. Its just unfortunate that GC wanted to play silly buggers with us.
  11. But we all love being armchair experts lol...great post.
  12. If JV doesn't rate in the top 3 picks, why would gold coast pick him. Because aren't they wasting a pick for a "better" player with their game. I think they just like upsetting the apple cart. Can anyone explain why the lack of the same discussion for daniher, isn't he supposed to be a future gun as well?
  13. Williams was right to be [censored] as I imagine he took the role after being informed he would take over after 1 year. When Sheedy got the extension he was out of there. He's better off in Melbourne than that hole. As for the flag, it was a few years coming and then he got a side into the GF that shouldn't have been there. Smart but whether still good enough for the main job who knows.
  14. This isn't to dig the boots in but to learn from and I'm curious about the view from Melbourne on the trouble there: Just reading the latest fiasco of Port with regard to coaching, with the preferred candidate preferring to be a assistant at GWS for the future top job. On top of that: 1. They are broke, even worse than what we were 2. They have no coach or potential coaches queuing up to take over the club, with cameron preferring GWS obvisouly with the offer made to him. * They seem to be scaring them away, maybe what is discussed in the interview process is scaring them. Or have they just been unprofessional in the process? 3. They are losing players faster than us, which is scary 4. Their new president will be present mainly via a video link, Koche... I have a mate who supports them and he despised how Dean Laidley often coached via video link as he lived in Melbourne, now the president is doing it. 5. They have a small supporter base, though I do see more port supporters around perth than Dee's. When you compare some of our recent events at the Dee's and despite the left-field dramas not of our making, the club seems rock steady in its direction and plans.
  15. Given players are often taken in a different order to pre-draft speculation., if the the suns rate him #2, maybe the current spec of a rating around 6-8 is wrong compared to other draftees? The question is not his speculative ranking but is he the best player in the top 10 that suits what we need? From what I know he is so we take him whether at #3 or #26. Like many posters here I believe JV will be at the dees next year.
  16. on the news tonight they linekd him to the Lions as said here. Just have to wait for the paperwork. Also his managers talks how St Kilda will wait the 72 hours to give an answer, whereas they let BG go today, no fuss. Which means his manager hasn't really worked out how things are going to work with FA.
  17. Mitch form int he 2nd was great from what i heard, kicking bags or 9 and 10 on more than one occasion. And to those that said he would not have played if player X was playing that is true. But he was chosen ahead of about 20 other blokes for that spot in the GF team. He earned it over the year and fought for a place in the side. Some people forget grand final sides are not made full of stars. You look at most, have 2/3 great players and a great supporting cast of whom many would be average no different than the other 17 sides in the comp. But they play a role and sometimes have a day out. Its about the team and individual brilliance is the icing on the cake.
  18. spoke too soon. how many goals have been kicked at that end?
  19. Koby has looked the goods in his few appearances and WC wanted to hang onto him. Great skills and leadership, could be someone to grab.
  20. People are been pushing us to get Ratten, for various reason many of them of experience and recent success. But in the media they have talked about how poorly he has interviewed up at the Gold Coast, Primus got the job, and I'm wondering if is too bitter at the moment to be taken on by another club, including us. In the search for a high powered midfield coach, who else could be available beyond williams for reasons who has already discussed on here? Maybe someone like Gary Ayres, who has a great job at a lower level where he would have been involved in every facet of the club and tactics etc.
  21. unfortunately for the receiver Hopoate had the inverse of that statement...
  22. interesting article and also shows that we should get viney with our second rounder given GWS and Suns have more important players to grab.
  23. Good player, got the Pies going last week and they missed him, niggling injuries pretty much bringing it to an end. Would have been good to have in our team and was a dreamteam star for a bit. Otherwise, I don't really care.
