DEMON SELECTION CONTROVERSY ADDS TO AFL WOES
The Great Pretender replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I note that both of the AFL's latest franchise teams are involved in this appalling mess. I blame Demetriou and of course, Watts himself. -
Collingwood v Casey Scorpions
The Great Pretender replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
On the GAMEDAY thread, poster Jane02 said that she learned from her source at Casey that Dean Kent's hammy "was not looking so good after scans early in the week." That's a bit more than what were learned from the report on the club's website so I don't know how or why posters think that someone enquiring would be able to get a better answer from someone involved with Casey at the ground. -
Well no - if we beat St. Kilda we go ahead of them anyway because that would give us 6 wins to their 5.

Free kick count at 3/4 time is 17-8 in favour of the Eagles. That's par for the course for their home games.

Gee I hope Hawthorn give Essendon a right royal flogging today. -
THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
The Great Pretender replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good point. If Dank is innocent of any wrongdoing, if he believes the Essendon 34 are innocent of being injected with a banned substance and if he really is so angry about the Tribunal decision then he could have responded when he was served with his infraction notice and defended himself at the Tribunal. Instead, he sat back and let this circus go on and on and on ... -

Agreed. In fact, the investigation should have started already. -

Just got on the train at Armadale. Only footy scarf I've seen is red and blue. No GCS scarves to be seen. We have them outnumbered - a good omen. -

My guess is that the Cats have already signed him at an asking price that we consider too high.

Port Adelaide treated their NAB Challenge game yesterday purely as an experiment and nobody really cared. I suppose we're in a different position but really - when you dominate a game so much in the first half what do you do when the stakes are zero?

Not sure if these guys even wore jockstraps. Kazakhstan is a very poor country you know. They might not be able to afford them.- 188 replies

I was listening on the way home to SEN and they had Brett Anderson on from Inside Football. He was asked to compare this year's draft to last year and he said that the top end talent is not as strong as last year but it goes much deeper which suggests we should be able to get a good player at #40. He was asked who he thought would go to St. Kilda at #1 and whether anything's changed - no, it's still down to three players Petracca, McCartin or (less likely) Brayshaw in that order. He also believes that they've made the decision but aren't saying - thinks the AFL has directed not to let this out to keep up the suspense. He also mentioned that Pat McKenna, the Australian Under 19 cricket captain who has nominated for the draft has a few clubs interested including Melbourne. Toby McLean, a small forward, who was best on ground in the TAC Cup U18 Grand Final for premiers Oakleigh Chargers after he was rejected earlier in the season, has firmed and is now expected to be picked in the 30s.

When does the full squad start training together? -
Rather than take a slow moving relic of our distant past who displayed cultural traits that our coach has said in the past are unacceptable at a professional club, I would trust our recruiters to either draft a young midfielder or take one from the list of delisted free agents or in the pre season draft and punt on the small chance that at some time in the future he might be a Sam Mitchell or a Tom Rockliff who might be around for some time in the future and be a good citizen at our club. You build your club up with people of good character and Brock's last port of destination was Carlton. 'Nuff said.

Knowing our luck, we'll pass on him and he'll become the next Plugger Lockett.

The problem with having too much sympathy for those who have banned drugs in their system is that they do so at the expense of those who don't take the drugs. -

"How important is the resurgence of Trengove?" Not really. -
What was Peter Jackson's agenda?
The Great Pretender replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think PJ's agenda was to help us snare a star player. An extra pick which we were quite obviously qualified for would possibly have helped us get Dangerfield across the line. The AFL and the other clubs didn't want us to have that opportunity and we will probably now miss out.
