Well unless we trade up with our draft picks then we have no option but to take the best of what's available in the mid twenties. That means players who aren't in fashion or out of left field.

Not as cringeworthy as your misspelling of McLardy's name or your misplaced poor sentiments.

So it begins at Punt Rd...
The Great Pretender replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Miss Wilson makes it sound so very nice when she writes about a "bloodless coup" but take it from me, these things are usually very nasty and the Richmond situation is anything but polite. Expect much bitterness and rancour especially over the heavy cost of replacing the coach in the event that this course is deemed necessary at some stage in the future. -

Why is Clayton Oliver player here and not at Etihad? -
Carlton supporter who is well connected with some of the officials at the club is claiming the Blues have Prestia all tied up for next year.

Four ex-Demons in SA team this weekend
The Great Pretender replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Strange that Channel 7 has the tv rights to the VFL games but won't telecast what you would think should be one of the jewels in the crown for the competition being the representative match. Come to think of it, we're a long way down the track in the season and yet they haven't had the Casey Scorpions on once. Do they have an aversion to screening the top side in the competition? -

AFL need to look into Rhys Mathieson!
The Great Pretender replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
They definitely have to do something about this because I've noticed this sort of thing creeping into kids' games. Did the AFL send a memo out to the coaches this week? -
Wow. Look at Carlton! Another year and they'll be looking at a complete rebuild.

I didn't realize how mediocre Dwayno's career was as a footballer until I read up about him just now. That doesn't prevent him from having an opinion and he's quite entitled to express his views. Mine are that his journalistic skills and ability as a football commentator are substandard. IMO, he wouldn't get a gig at a quality television station.

Noticed that. Sounded ignorant and sociopathic to me.

Discussion on Non MFC matters - 2016
The Great Pretender replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting that the AFL chose to have no football coinciding with the F1 Grand Prix while the eyes of the sporting world are firmly fixed on Melbourne. Why not a Friday or a Saturday night game during the F1 while so many international sporting personalities, media etc are right here in town. -
Saturday Talking Point: The Football Supporter

Neither a have or a have not. Just a visitor eight months ago. Lots of parks and gardens. Restored riverside area and city shopping areas. I liked it a lot more than most of the other northern towns I visited. -
The 'Demons' new found competitive aggression

Now aggression at the football is a different matter. That comes from within. -

Casey Scorpions Off Season News
The Great Pretender replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surprised to hear you say that. Since the end of last year, he's had his first pre season at the club, made it to the NAB Challenge squad where along with one or two others, was used sparingly and then by all accounts had a good game for Casey. Why do you think he's going backwards? -

Knowing how very dearly you hold onto those rat's hats, I'm flattered. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

JUDGEMENT DAY - THE "BOMBER" 34
The Great Pretender replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The issue I have with this rule about top up players is that the AFL has gone out and given the so far exclusive right to Essendon to search out these players. This gives the perpetrator of the offence, a head start over the other clubs who have lost players but were not offenders which puts them at a disadvantage. Moreover, the decision to not take into consideration the fact that Essendon will potentially have 12 players coming back in 2017 as a factor in their draft position is also unfair given that it will likely put the perpetrators at a further advantage over rival clubs. It really is outrageous. -

I think it would be great story if both Grimes and Trengove could become valuable members of a resurgent Melbourne in 2016. -

The Great Pretender replied to Caligula's Cohort!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think he was comparing their physiques but rather stating the fact that Lockett's about the same height as those two. Nobody really doubts Lockett's attributes. After all, he and Jason Dunstall won Brownlow Medals and kicked plenty of tons. The way the game's changed, key forwards these days need to be taller than Lockett's 191cm but Plugger would still be a great footballer today because of his strength and skills. -
Agree. That's why I often come to this thread to find out what's going on at Melbourne. I always get a polite response and people are always so concerned about my welfare.
-
This is the elephant in the AFL room. I think Jobe Watson has to hand over the Brownlow Medal which according to the CAS was won by him with the benefit of performance enhancing substances. The question is should the Medal be vacated for 2012 i.e no award at all OR should it be awarded to Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell? I think it should be awarded to Cotchin and Mitchell as the two highest polling legal players over the year. It would be an injustice if they didn't get their medals.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
The Great Pretender replied to xman97's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure if anybody has considered this but Kieren Collins is a fair sized unit and a strong key position defender who some believe is not that far behind Weitering. I don't believe Essendon will pass over Weideman if we take a mid with pick 3. Collins might well be the player to go for with 7. -
