  1. Nonsense. The AFL motto is "cash is king!". The only way a club can get ahead in the competition is to be fabulously wealthy which breeds success which yields more wealth and respect from the commission. Charge the mugs for everything I say.
  2. Hear what you're saying but disagree that AD's position precludes him from acting in the realm of governance. AD is often mentioned as being part of the Commission, sitting in on its meetings and taking part in its decision making processes. Whilst he might therefore not technically be one of the AFL's "governors" he sits front and square in its governance process and is often the face of that body's operations.
  3. Yeah, I reckon when a couple hundred million bucks suddenly disappears there's always room to suspect something dodgy just happened.Hopefully, this will have no effect whatsoever on the price of bananas.
  4. Is there an official Stalinist position on Moloney or is it open to a conscience vote?
  5. Nahas never impressed me when he was with the Tigers. I would say no.
  6. On the flip side when Dean Bailey felt that Junior McDonald should be moved on at the age of 33 and with hamstring issues, certain people pilloried the club and condemned the administration for doing so. Meanwhile, nobody over at the Western Bulldogs said "boo" when the Bulldogs moved Daniel Cross on at 30.
  7. A strange post that reflects a minority view at Dockerland and is as close to the truth as much of the revisionist history about these guys. Before Schwab and Connolly arrived at Fremantle the club was broke and had never played in a finals game. The people that matter at that club readily acknowledge the contributions made by both men to getting the Dockers where they are today. It's regrettable that we have among us no shortage of mean spirited people who have selective memories of the contributions made by past servants to the club, Cuddles was a great player at this club whose career was cut short tragically by a knee injury. Both he and Schwab worked hard and did their best to further the interests of the club. I wish them both well in the future.
  8. Sometimes you have to wonder where the newspapers get their ideas for articles from :-As Football Park goes, the Aish dynasty rolls on
  9. Does anyone know when they announce the compensation for loss of FAs?
  10. From shared kicks to top picks: Two friends' road to the draft
  11. Varcoe's proven to be inconsistent and injury prone so I would only consider him either in a player for player trade or as the steak knives as part of a bigger trade. He wouldn't be a key target IMO.
  12. The problem I have with the one we have now is that it represents the Sydney Swans or the old South Melbourne more than it does us. Agree that it's insipid and hasn't been associated with much success either. Time for a change.
  13. Don't tell me that's due to AOD9604
  14. This is what the wurst is going to taste like - Angry Sandor Earl tips bucket on Stephen Dank
  15. The AFL in its wisdom has thrown the final eight into disarray and the last round has taken on new significance with Essendon out of contention and locked in 9th place. The bad news is that Carlton is in the box seat. It can seal the matter by beating Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium and could even stay in the 8 if it loses. Brisbane has almost no chance at Simonds Stadium. I'd like to see North fall in ... but can they beat the Pies? How would people like to see things pan out.
  16. Isaac Weetra will become a champion footballer at this club.
  17. Good work lads and lasses. Keep it up.
  18. If Paul Roos gets wind of this thread and realises what the typical Melbourne supporter is like, there's no way known he'll coach Melbourne let alone ever look at a banana again.
  19. Is the poster who you were responding to not one of those "feckless goons"?
  20. I agree and you should tell that to Mr. Baghdad and the other gloaters who posted above.
  21. Missed the point entirely and in all probability, you didn't even bother to read my post. Pointed out that this trio were all appointed before Jimmy Stynes came into office and if people want to blame Stynes/McLardy/Schwab for what they did, then it should be acknowledged that they in fact, inherited some of the perpetrators. I disagree that we we were ruderless most of the time. We got ourselves out of debt and into the black. Had the old board remained, we'd probably be on the Gold Coast or in liquidation by now anyway.
  22. Bailey, Connolly and Prendergast - the recipe for our disaster? What did they all have in common? Appointed by the Gardner board and inherited by Jimmy, McLardy and Schwab. That's where the root of the problem lies I assume.
  23. Well, time to start the game day thread seeing that there's 12 hours to go and the big news is that Paul Roos likes us. Why Melbourne can turn it around sooner than you think, writes Paul Roos This is his best team with a question mark next to some who he asks whether they would be consistent AFL performers ... and there are a few blanks. MELBOURNE B: Frawley Garland ... HB: Grimes McDonald ... C: Blease? Jones Watts HF:Sylvia Dawes Hogan F: Clark Howe ... R:Jamar? Trengove Viney I/C: Fitzpatrick? ... ... ... Only 10 of that list playing today. Is it enough to avoid the humiliation of a defeat at Skoda?
