Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
The Great Pretender replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
The proposition that professional footballers who are required to attend sessions called by the AFL to educate them on the ins and outs of drugs in sport are not better informed than a part timer who gets no education whatsoever is ludicrous.BTW I agree with your summation of Tracey Holmes embarrassing performance on the programme today but it's correct name is "Offsiders" I believe . -

Reckon Vince and Tyson are revelations and we'll be singing their praises for much of the season. -

The 2014 AFL National Draft
The Great Pretender replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn't go but I'm told that he was very composed during the training sessions and, like Stretch, didn't look out of place at an AFL training session. -
I'm pretty sure that there's already a level of co-ordination between the Melbourne coaching group and Casey as that certainly existed last year with Rohan Welsh who remains Scorpions coach. Also, the current main article on their website is saying "club welcomes Melbourne Development Coach Brad Miller who will coach the VFL forwards." It wouldn't be any other way given up to 20 Demons each week play for Casey.

In the battle of first round losers the Toigs are giving the Pois a bit of a workout in the first quarter. It means nothing much but could it make our performance last week look even better?

How so when Burgo says Clark's progressing positivity?

New coach Paul Roos shocked by Demons' scars
The Great Pretender replied to Undeeterred's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't reckon anyone's blaming Daniher. Instead, we were in a mess when he left and the bad administration, bad list management and poor coaching that followed has seen us remain in the same mess and not move forward for far too long. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

My concern is that the investigation could be nobbled by political forces. Has this judge been called in to tell the investigators what the government wants i.e a conclusion that gets vested interests off the hook? -

You might want to review your own user name which many might also consider racist and offensive. -
Neeld made a lot of mistakes, but this wasn't one of them

That's a nice re-write in itself. -

The Great Pretender replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes. Keep that up America and you'll have some of the mug punters believing it was Neeld and not Bailey who taught the club to be "bruise free" and coached at Skilled Stadium on the 186 day. I'm no apologist for Neeld and I'm not blaming Bailey but setting out what was proscribed for him as a coach and made it very clear he failed. I don't give a flying as to who gave Bailey an assistants job. Neither of them were much chop and you're delusional if you think otherwise. -
Neeld made a lot of mistakes, but this wasn't one of them
The Great Pretender replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes. We were completely gutted and soulless at 186 and the club took action to rectify the damage. That action involved taking risk and in the end, if failed but only a fool would fail to recognise that it was a genuine attempt to redress the problem. You want the truth? Go to Nutbean's post # 21. And for those wearing the rose coloured glasses about our situation now, you should recognise the fact that the club is also taking risks now with a high profile, highly paid coach and a policy of buying recycled players to shore up our pathetic midfield which was long ago considered third world and couldn't be fixed by either Bailey or Neeld. Like most, I have faith in PJ and Roos but most of us had faith last year and it all went belly up so don't presume anything just yet. -
I think so too. I went to a function two years ago with a player sponsor and they had a little mini function beforehand where you were introduced to the players.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
The Great Pretender replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolutely not and I mean what I said. This thread has for the most part been informative and contained credible discussion on an important and serious subject but it's being turned into a kiddies cartoon corner. Personal attacks on the way the Hirds look simply demeans the discussion. -

The Great Pretender replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
People. This is a serious subject. Do we need to lower the tone with personal attacks on the Hirds? Why not concentrate on what the Essendon programme has done to its players and the consequences of those actions? -
And you sir, are definitely not an accountant judging by this gobbeldygook.

The AFL has a lot to answer over all of this. Having concluded it's so-called case against Essendon, taken them out of the finals, there's been a virtual cessation of interest on its part over the peptides regime. Let's face it, it's highly likely that someone from within the club knew exactly what the players have ingested into their bodies but does the AFL care? -

St. Kilda v Melbourne - 2006 Elimination Final
The Great Pretender replied to Courtney_Fish's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know we've strayed from the OP but what was obvious to me from almost the start was the Neeld game plan of going wide into the forward line. I remember a nab cup game v Hawthorn when we were pantsed by Buddy. They went direct to the forward line and kicked goal after goal. We went for the pockets and had trouble scoring. This continued through 2012 and you could feel the players weren't responding. You really needed a much stronger team to get away with such tactics. The free flowing style we had under Daniher and Bailey were good to watch when things were going well but I dare say that things will be different now that Roos is on board. -
This might not be the PC thing to say but I fully expected this thread to be full of whinging.

Chanderpaul, after who the OP of this thread was opened all those years ago, just passed Alan Border in test runs scored. Congratulations.
