I remember speaking to him some years ago at a function or AGM or something at the G. Nice bloke. Good tough footballer.

    And also into Sloane.
  3. Might be good at setting field placements. Also could be good at altering the footy, if the other side get away from us. Sorry I know you deserve better. Seriously, only positive might be some leadership ability that he has developed in the role.
  4. Portable goal posts at one end for a while would solve it. I have two sets in my garage.
  5. They set themselves for beating us. They had something to prove. They found our weakness and exploited it perfectly as a couple of other teams have also done. Maybe their other opponents planned for them. We clearly didn't.

I am with you. There is more to it than player blame.

Probably all of the issues you raised and more.

Must be out of them, as the banana never lets you down.

Well is another season about to completely unravel?
  10. With Oscar, a returning Lever, a developing Petty, Frost and Keilty and the shorter pinch hitting Smith, we are ok for key backs.

What are you talking about, this is not a personal development seminar. It's a football club.

Agree Bin and that is why I have been banging on on DL for the last few years, to get rid of our ball butchers, as they start most of our troubles. We have recruited the hard body contested players , just about totally at the expense of some skillful and quick players, who can also apply defensive pressure.

There is no doubt that the video shown on the footy shows highlights a distinct lack of effort, in pressuring the ball carrier and the man you are on. It showed Saints players busting a gut to create the overlap, while our players never went with them. That is what Goodwin was talking about. The Saints killed us in effort and gut running and that is why with some umpire help and poor disposal from us, a lowly side beat us..
  14. There seems to be a " do one thing wrong and you are gone" policy with us. Billy and Frost seem to be victims of it, being given 1 game each I think this year and dropped after an error or two never to return. I wrote on here several times not to let Dunn go, who was also a victim of the policy apparently. He has certainly fitted in well and added to the 2nd team on the ladder, up until his ACL on the weekend. I am not worried about Oscar who will continue to get stronger and better and who bar 1 -2 games has been good. One of our Coaches who coached at the Dogs, dumped Higgins, who is now a Brownlow contender at the Roos. They don't know everything clearly, but sometimes they take a line and refuse to budge, no matter what is happening. We seem to have developed a fairly slow list and with Hunt out and Jeffy in poor form it is much worse. I said over summer we needed more pace, skill and spread from players who can also apply defensive pressure like a Daniel Rioli. IMO we need to make that our main priority. A Saad or Matthew Whelan type in the back half would also be helpful to allow us to turn defence into attack the way the 3 teams who have just beaten us did.
  15. With Hunt and Jeffy playing good footy, we are a far more formidable team. ATM we are probably the slowest team in the AFL.
  16. Jack Steele was on SEN today and said that they saw how we had been beaten by the Pies and Port. They knew if they used their pace and players worked hard to create overlap, they would beat us. They did and they did. He found it pretty simple as to what they had to do. My question is, what did our coaching panel do to counter what other sides and presumably us as well knew, as to how we can be beaten. All I can see, is that we actually made it harder for us to win, by going even taller and slower.
  17. That is a pretty poor post from you. I expect better. BTW am I in the "most others "category? Just wondering.
  18. What is a salt lamp?
  19. Another common theme among our opposition.
  20. Just BTW, who is responsible for the kick in strategy? What a shambles. We didn't manage two kicks in a row from the kick in to a Demon all game. However our brilliant opposition, one of the leaders in the AFL, went from kick in to goal, without us touching it several times.
  21. Well who is going to apply the forward pressure from Jesse, Weid, TMac, Hannan, Melksham and add Tyson who are all relatively slow? Baffling selection . Who kicked the most goals today, Gresham, a crumber and we had none.

What's the difference. Sorry should have posted that on Joeboy's thread.
  23. As I left my seat in the QB game, a big ugly Pie supporter was clapping into my face, i just stopped and stared at him and thought, "thank God I am not you". I then left, as a king hit was a likely result for me if I said or did anything. Sorry you copped an idiot. He is probably related to the one I had.
  24. Surely you saw I was being a little sarcastic.
  25. I have had faith for the last 54 years and support for the last 66, how long for you? Seriously though, why have faith they will make changes, when there is no evidence of change to base it on, despite the problems being evident for most of the year.
