Farewell Jesse Hogan
Yet they still donโt have Lobb or anyone for that matter.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
They could have got picks later on and we would have given some back for 5. & 6.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
And the Neale deal can be done in 10 seconds, if they want to.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
But they are the ones not doing the Neale deal. If they do they have 5 and 11. They also had 6 and knew we wanted it and then traded it. That was not an accident.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
So would the FD but we canโt get May and a top 10 pick for him. Have you read the previous 100 pages on here or any newspaper or any trade article on the net?

Freo had 6 and will get 5 for Neale. If Neale is traded they would have had both picks. Freo chose to get rid of 6.

With all of the diverse opinions and predictions posted on this thread, I am still to see any post more accurate than my early post, which wasโ we will either do the Hogan for May deal or we wonโtโ.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Depends who is the one that gets the call on whether it was right.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If he does it will be for less than 2 first rounders.

I get the feeling a number of clubs and managers are not going to forget Freoโs behaviour in this trade period.

Get the feeling that the AFL might get involved with the amount of deals being stuck and players in limbo. It is becoming a farce and a bad look for the AFL.

What part of โ we will not be pursuing JH โ is not clear? They are out of any JH deal.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
There are 2 problems in the May scenario, getting him and fitting him in the salary cap. Dealing with the second first, he could be paid a modest amount in 19 and then more in later years as more players like Lewis and Jones retire and others are moved on. Getting him is harder unless GC are really desperate to move him on and are prepared to help. Our first pick next year and maybe a bundling of some of our picks this year and a player or two might be able to get it done though it would be highly unlikely. Would they have any interest in JKH, Wagner, Keilty, Joel Smith, Billy Stretch, Jeffy, ANB, Tim Smith as part of a pick/player package?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
We are an injury away from having too many forwards and Hogan has played defence as a junior.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Could it be Pies to clear Tom Langdon to Dockers to join his brother, on condition they pull out of Hogan deal, leaving them with an extra pick and being the only suitor for May.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
We are trading a 23 year old possible champion forward, for a 27 year old defender, who will probably play on him when the teams meet.

JM may have put paid to our alternative May deals, when he said today, that without the Hogan deal we won't get May.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Hogan gone and we have May and KK, so nothing much. Also Freo shouting all the other FD's lunch.

AFL Site article sums it up nicely. " MELBOURNE is still waiting for a reasonable offer from Fremantle for key forward Jesse Hogan, Demons football manager Josh Mahoney says. Hogan, 23, has told the Demons he would be open to a trade back to his home state of Western Australia and toured the Fremantle facilities last week. The Demons reportedly rejected the Dockers' first offer for Hogan on Thursday, which included pick No.11 and a future second-round draft selection. "Jesse came to us and said he wants to explore the opportunity," Mahoney said. "Basically, if Fremantle want to get Jesse Hogan, they know the deal they have to give for us and Jesse's aware of that. "They haven't spoken to us about anything that entertains us at all about doing a deal." Melbourne is also in the race for Gold Coast captain Steven May, but Mahoney made it clear that the Hogan deal will take precedence before any discussions take place with the Suns. "We've got other deals we want to do," Mahoney said. "At the moment the offer they're giving to us doesnโt help us in any way."

Players that aren't getting a game might go, but GC would have to want them and that is the problem. I could nearly guarantee that we have had discussions with GC about getting the deal done without Freo, but it is extremely difficult to give something that they want, that we either want to keep, or just haven't got.

I wasn't bragging, only saying that it was up. It's pie in the sky, but I have seen a pie floater so who knows.

Yes good luck Dom and thanks for your efforts for the Dees.

I have already done it. Posted on the May thread " #902 Posted 1 hour ago Because of the Lever deal, we have nothing to trade with GC, unless the Hogan deal goes through. JM has said it and Freo are using it. Also because JH probably will only go home, we are stymied in dealing with another club. I wonder if we could get GC to approach him, with the help of the AFL to bump up any offer and make him one of the highest paid players in the game, on a long contract. This could suit GC and the AFL. To replace their captains leaving, with the potential best young key forward in the game. The publicity alone would be great for them in rebuilding the club. I wonder if Jessie could be talked into the sun and sea being a surfer. If this could be done, we would be able to do the May, KK deal and possibly get a top 3 pick from GC, with them getting something back. Then we are looking at Rankine or Rozee. How good a deal could that be? I wonder who the other clubs that are nibbling are? If JH and us could shaft Freo, by getting a better deal, it would be magnificent. On the other hand, if the deal goes through with Fre and we get May and KK, I don't see it being what many of us hoped for. I can't see realistically how we can do the May deal alone and that is a pity."

Well done Dees and now there are a couple of small deals that we need to find a way to get done.
