Disagree. He is a better kick for goal than our ruckman for one. Has kicked 29.23 in 49 games and averages .6 goals per game even though often played away from goal. Clearly not a silky mid but a hard at it lead up small forward. No champ but we don’t have too many of them.
-
He is a lead up small forward and not a mid/2nd ruck. Hasn’t played there all year and hasn’t the finesse or skills to play mid/ruck and it is showing.
-
I would hope that we are decent enough to let them add to their record.

Blues create history tonight, being the first time they have lost the opening 6 games. Congrats on the new record.

Interesting that our two biggest goal kickers in a game this year have been dropped and both deserve it. Other than 1 good game each, they have been putrid.

Goodwin says Viney & TMac out for 6-8 Weeks

They rotate. -
I think we will make another change to the side with at least 4 new faces from Tuesday. Bombers have 5 new players in and that will give them more fresh legs than us if we only bring in 3. I think we need at least another new player to even the difference somewhat.

A few months after the 2018 one ends.
-
That's why I said "either with run, which he and Billy have, or good ball use, which Billy and Salem have". Hunt actually fumbled at least 4 handball receives on tuesday.
-
I think Hunt, Salem and Stretch should be our main wingers as they are the players to benefit most from the space there and are best able to hurt the opposition either with run or good delivery into the forward 50. It is a waste to put Tyson or ANB there, as they butcher the ball and are not really quick of mind or foot. They can play in the middle at the contest if they are in the side.
-
We won't want Dahlhouse.
-
There will be more than 2 changes guaranteed. 4-5 day break needs some fresh legs.
-
Probably very true. The fumbling and contested footy was over the top. Losing confidence meant too many players contesting, causing the clangers and lack of ability to spread, which we did in the JLT but not in the 5 games so far. The teams who have confidence in each other send less to the contest and then have outriders who can spread and cut you to ribbons, once the ball is flipped out to them. We need to get back to that type of footy.

Agree, he was pathetic yesterday, his effort almost non existent. The few possessions he got he turned over while in fear of being tackled. It was so obvious to see. Aside from the Lions game he has been poor so far this season and unfortunately he is not Robinson Crusoe.
-
Heard a couple of the commentators say that if we persisted with the long kicks down the line we would get badly beaten. Guess what?
-
There is the big question. I would rather play a kid with skills and give him time to gain experience, than persist with ball butchers. BTW how old is Higgins, same age I think as Spargo and younger than Baker. Not saying they should get games yet, but we need an alternative to the turnover merchants. Wonder if you gave the ball to a Baker who can run, would be better than giving it to ANB and Vince who are mistake riddled.

Or grab his wrist and pull or swing.
-
I can give them a revolutionary but simple start, tell the players not to kick to packs.

Alex Neal-Bullen - AFL top 10 in distance covered in game
Redleg replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just loved his kick off the ground at the bounday line at our end, giving them an out on the full. Idiotic. -
That actually bears examination. Early last year they were considered ordinary. They have 3 stars in Dusty, Rance and the Captain, the rest are no names and I include Jack R in that. We have some very good players in Gawn, Clarry, Perracca, Hogan etc and also the no names. So what is the difference. All their players seem to have ball skills and pace. We don't. They know their game plan and it is effective. Ours isn't. We both have effort. So for me it comes down to skill, pace and game plan ( coaching). And yes as a kicker but not the sole reason they won, their bottom 6 are better than ours and in fact their three ins last night kicked 6-7 of their goals I think.
-
Unfortunately at this stage that is true.
-
Well we could have had one for nothing and he is 2nd highest metres gained in AFL but everyone said he was crap. He went to Roos and played well against us incidentally. Tigers are doing well off trades and later picks. Early picks haven't saved us.
-
I agree with you when you say " can we be more inept with the ball". That is what's wrong not camps or effort. Our effort was there and I wish people would stop thinking a two day camp would have given us a game plan and put skill into ANB, Vince, Harmes, Hunt etc. The sad fact of life is that we are the worst skilled side in the AFL, lack pace, lack the Cyril/Breust type of magic to make something happen from nothing, are poorly coached and selected which hampers the thing we are good at which is contested footy.
