  1. Artie it has nothing to do with supposed "quality" these guys were drafted by the club as the best footballers we thought they might become. To me it is the complete lack of desire to work harder than your opponent that I can't stomach. If they were at least looking like a side with desire, want, heart, work ethic, leadership then it would be a lot easier to look at our current situation and say yeap we have heaps out lets relax and look towards end of season for a bright shinning light. They are a ship without a rudder on the field at present, someone all season has needed to step up.... who will it be?
  2. .... Chok.... come on mate because we spent so little time in our fwd 50 you can excuse the lack of 1%ers to allow us to keep the ball in the fwd half? No maka no sense to me. Also it's Carlton's strength... what's our strength?
  3. That is what sh!ts me to tears RR, it is not the injuries, the supposed "spuds" playing, the inability to break a zone, our fwds not able to have space to move into it is the lack of desrie to tackle, chase, hunt the opposition at all times. We are, and I hate using these terms, weak mentally, soft physically and lacking in leaders who will themselves/team mates to do the hard yards. I am no fan of Dermott B's random pontificating but had to agree when I heard him say this week on the radio even our young guys like to play "bruise free football". We can draft all the Tapscotts in the world but if the supposed leaders are not showing the way it goes no where.
  4. "the lack of Melbourne pressure in its forward line at times embarrassing. Just before half-time, Carlton had registered 31 tackles in its forward half; the Demon tally was four." From The Age...
  5. Cooney has a knee problem doesn't he?
  6. ... Christ almighty the Blues will smash us to bits with those match ups and a similar number of inside 50's against us as the last few weeks. While I know Barts work rate is high his skills/decision making are terrible and very few have the pace to go with Garlett. Betts is a far better player the JB who I still have not seen his "best" position yet. Waite will destory J-Riv. He is the best big fwd they have and a highly rate him. Fraw's has to go to Waite every day of the week, he is too big, to strong and to quick for Riv's.
  7. I think we will also few some more debutants from the Saints this week
  8. We're still in the 8..... ZOMG (pending Tigs today)
  9. Bail PCL.
  10. Bail has he done the knee? I heard a snippet of radio and the said a MFC player had potential an ACL? Garland subbed off with ankle injury, Slyvia had to come off for treatment, Jurrah came off late in 3'rd can't run high calf, maybe knee problem?
  11. Not sure you have seen ever other DB press conference but I don't recall his demeanor being any different whether we win, lose or draw.
  12. "Red" why is that not great to read about Cale at training? I have only played local footy but every now and again we have all been in a similar situation whether it is us in the gun or someone else. You work as a group to try and improve that side of someone’s game. Now in saying that not all players are built with the same mentality or physically want to put themselves in tight/hard situations but they need be bringing something else to the table.
  13. Artie I seem to get caught up in the patience vs we should have imprvoed more by now phases. We got smashed by WCE bigger bodies yet last year we were able to run with Collingwood and smashed the Swans, we have let go 3 older players in Bruce, Junior and Miller to get games into players but it doesn't seem players are getting games on merit. Even if we want to get games into these kids then they have to earn it not just be given them. I think we need to look at drafting some older heads to get a balance correct to allow the young players to develop at a pace but still want to see us looking like we can compete week in week out. Just my thoughts...
  14. I want to see Nath Jones playing footy to the best of his ability.... not talk 140 charachters on a man who dealt in death and who is now himself dead.
  15. Mate I lived in London 2 years ago and found it is an odd experience. You can spend hours on forums and watching games on the net but you still feel very removed from it all. Not seeing games live and travelling you tend to miss out on a lot of what is happening but these kind of furms are a good way to keep in touch with it as much as possible. Cards
  16. I am confused why people still continue to bring up Lyon's name. He has not shown he has any desire to coach an AFL side as far as I have seen to date. He has had virtually no coaching experience and is a long time removed from playing footy. I think we have seen more failures than successes of coaches who have been poor coaches without doing an assistants apprenticeship, some obvious recent successes but more failures I would have thought...
  17. Kidney issues 4 weeks. Also found other potential issue with his other kidney
  18. Gee wizz Norf has responded with some great wins so far this season.... So has richmond.... Dons are playing fantastic footy at present, lets see if they can run out the season like this and have not put all the eggs in the early season basket.
  19. Strip him of VC for 1 incident in his entire career.... give it a rest. He was out late, so what? Players are not allowed out late? Peeing on/in a bar is not acceptable at all but gee wizz lets not go overboard!
  20. Ball has to get into the forward line for Aussie to have a crumbing impact DD. But it is very encouraging to see him push to the mindfield and have such an impact for Casey last week.
  21. Ordered a week ago and still not here.... will be dropping an email to Pistol
  22. Thumbs up
  23. Finey on SEN the other night had a take on it as well. Why change the rules so often (something like 50 rule changes in 30 odd years) to "tire the players out" and not have as many stoppages/flooding when we have 2 examples of ways to tire players out. Subiaco and we did have Waverly Park, 2 large grounds were stoppages are a whole lot less prevelant.
  24. Maybe I am being naive but for me it raises the point of us as fans and how we direct comment towards players as a whole too. I think a lot of people, myself included, need to take massive step back when discussing players, there ability and how they generally go about this. We have very little idea of the internal machinations of the club and players as individuals. This like this we are not aware of and the effect it has on a player. As to the Bell comment from Ange, I do not agree. The player in his chosen field of employment was injured while working for MFC. He should be covered by the employer for any injuries sustained whilst working for them I would have thought, especially if it concerns future long term damage to the person effecting his future employment opportunities and care needed.
