Gee wizz very good disposal volume. Interesting to see his efficency. The only thing you can really say he needs to work on is not giving away free kicks for push in the back. Otherwise what more can you ask for from a 1st year player???? I just think on recent history they have allowed young players a taste for approx 3 weeks then given them time at Casey or a spell. But then again the players have not been the quality of Scull and Trenners have they...

Might have to be half time, as soon as the Dee's finish off the Tiges I'm off to the Docklands to see the Saint's v Freo game. Have a free Medallion ticket with a few mate Saint supporters.

I'll bet you a tenner Scully doesn't play big H... The Dees have tended to give 1st year players 2,3 sometimes 4 games in the 1's then send them back for a run in the maggo's. You might see Trenners drop back in a week or two too. Just a thought but happy to put it on the line too.

Aussie might have to get a new nickname, he is no longer 223

Well played sir!

I'm sure if you looked at the replay you'd see 95-100% of MFc players missing targets, passing to the feet or over the top by hand or foot. Give it a rest for faarks sake.

And there wasn't an issue about gang taclking when Jack Watts got wrapped up against the Pies last year....
-
You play until the whistle goes... todays game is about not allowing the ball carrier to free his arms and find a target to release the ball to by hand or foot. Tackle tackle tackle. Far out you can not legislate against every single possible friggin way of getting hurt.

I've always been one for the players should be the only ones singing it but I agree that a huge number of people are involved in the whole thing and should enjoy it too... Maybe a 2nd larger circle around the players singing it every now and again...

As I mentioned in another thread I thought he was just as good the week before against the Pies besides a couple of contests he could have gone harder at vs Pies. His skill level is improving compared to the preseason where he had the run and carry out of defence but he would turn the ball over often. Hopefully we continue to see the upward improvement and consistancy from him. He could turn out to be a beauty.

Use the footy better? He's not Robinson Crusoe there tiger....

Today’s game is played as a ball control affair. You have to have the ball to win the game. Hit up targets in front, beside and behind you. Do not kick it too a contested situation unless totally no other options. Bruce’s skills have been debated to death on here are not great. He was very good after half time today playing in defence and pushing hard forward. Also the majority of players do it not just a whipping boy like Bruce. That horse has been flogged already give it a rest.

3rd after Saints and Swans by the looks of AFL ladder. Really exciting to see. AFL Ladder Heard that on radio on way home, awesome display from the Chip.
-
I think it was 5 to 29 rotations off the bench in the last qtr our way.
-
Bruce was good after half time playing in defence, ran the game out stronger than most I think Daz.

Uh why?? He played as well this week as he did last week I thought. He played well both games. But he was not in a position like last week where he had to go back with the flight so not much humble pie would be needed. And why is it against the "rules" to state an obvious fact... He is developing nicely and has the potential to be an exciting, long term prospect for the mighty Dee's but he pulled out of the contest last week and not the 1st time he's done it.
-
As RR said he did have two hands clearly in his back whislt there was little or no "push" he did have the hands firmly in the back so it was a fair free kick whether he "staged" or not. Chipper was really good.
-
Thought he started very well, presented, took marks, tackled, chased but then fell away badly. He dropped easy marks he should have taken, he'd done the hard work to get a yard or two in space then dropped marks. But as you said it is improvement, slow but some improvement.

Nost this will continue to be the case for some time. The likes of Newts, Dunn, Bruce, Junior etc who are not good by hand and certainly poor by foot will be around for another year or two as the younger ones develop. I hope the younger ones learning curve is decreasing and there skill level can increase to have us moving up the ladder in the next few seasons. Anything more than that is a bonus I'd think. PS forgot to mention before gee wizz didn't Newts start off on fire!! 4 possies in his 1st 5 mins on the ground, looked good. Leading, providing a good target, chasing, taclking, harrassing. But wow he fell away badly from that point. He can provide a small glimpse then looks ugly again from there.

Really ugly game of soccer, basketball, netball sorry I mean footy today. I thought Adelaide's lack of fwd options would create problems for them during the preseason and now it's killing them. Bail has improved dramatically. Bennell using his pace and his 2nd efforts a highlight. Junior's taclking. Chip was brilliant once he moved onto Burton. Burton was Adelaide's only way to goal and once Chipper went to him Adelaide were stuffed. Chipper's ability to stop in the air then run off either finding a target by foot or creating space is a pleasure to see. Bater and Bruce were both good after half time. To say other wise well we just all see different things. The thing to take out of the game is two weeks in a row our talking and pressure on the ball carrier has been fantastic. Hopefully the rollercoaster can keep going up for another week or two. If things had of fallen our way we could be 2-1!!!

I think he has been one of the best coaches of this era if not all time. He had two Collingwood sides in grand finals against one of the best teams ever (Lions). Almost stole a premiership from them when they should not have even made finals. He continues to have teams at the pointy end of the comp that play a brand of pressure, never say die footy our teams can not get within kooie of. What he allegedly said on Friday is not on for players let alone a coach. If you can read his lips it looks like he allegedly said was "ra" then a head obscures his face, then you can catch the last part that looks like "ist"....

Chook if they legislate against anything that is deemed dangerous or has potential to cause injury our game will cease to exist. We will become more netball/basketball/soccer than we already are. The rubbish the umpires handed out before the Pies vs Saints game tonight annoyed the crickey out of me. Let them have a push and shove and move on.
