I was thinking of Scott Turner, but I see he never actually played a senior game with us despite running out for our Under 19s and playing in an exhibition match in Toronto before ending up at Richmond. Steve Turner would also work for this quiz, even though he'd be named out of position at CHB.

There has been a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that this is the most Anglo/Irish team ever but we can safely rule that idea out, despite the proliferation of Irish sounding names listed. A second poster has proposed that they all share surnames with singers but, although possibly true, alas that is not the answer to this particular quiz. The answer also has nothing to do with the placement of vowels in their names. The fourth answer is in but is also incorrect - they are not all brand names.

I'm pretty sure the criterion in those days was the father playing 50 games at the club, which was later increased to 100 by the League. Jonathon Brown was recruited as a father-son by Brisbane in 1999 despite his father Brian having played only 51 games for Fitzroy. Under those rules, Kavanagh couldn't have been taken as a father-son by Melbourne and it would appear that neither Carlton nor North were interested in him despite him being eligible under the 50 game rule.

Michael Clark, who only played the one game, is the son of Denis. However, I'm not sure he was taken as a father-son. edit: A quick check of Demonwiki reveals no fewer than 31 Melbourne players whose fathers also played for the mighty Demons.

I strongly suspect that I'm the only Demonlander who hasn't spent a brass razoo on merchandise or memorabilia and have no intention of doing so. I watched the game and will always have that experience and the joyous memory of our triumph. Should that memory ever need refreshing, there is no shortage of replays and highlights on the internet to watch.

Given that he served as Premier of Tasmania, you'd have to say so. However, Brian Dixon served 18 years in the Victorian Government after being elected in 1964 while still playing for Melbourne. I can't imagine that happening these days! Dixon was probably best remembered for introducing the "Life. Be In It." campaign while he was the Minister for Youth, Sport & Recreation.
