OK funlovers, it's that time of the week again. Today, I have chosen a team (from the backline and in position) consisting solely of footballers who played for the mighty Demons. The more eagle-eyed among you will have noted that they have all appeared on the Melbourne senior list since the year 2000. What else do they have in common? I suspect this one may go off early as it's fairly simple. Then again, I already know the answer! B: Nathan Brown Steven May Ryan Ferguson H/B: Brad Miller Ben Holland Joel Smith C: Jayden Hunt Nathan Jones Daniel Ward H/F: Brad Green Jesse Hogan Tom McDonald F: Russell Robertson Mitch Clark Luke Jackson R: Jeff White Cameron Bruce Daniel Nicholson I/C: James Cook Jack Fitzpatrick Steven Armstrong Dean Kent

Scar tissue - long suffering MFC supporter issues
Demonstone replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
You keep forgetting that $100 of that was his to start with. He punted the $100, had a win/early payout (same thing) and got back $2,300. He only wins $2,200. He's not $2,300 in front overall. Sorry WCW, but you clearly don't understand the difference between odds and payout. In a previous life, I worked as a bookie's clerk so I know what I'm talking about. -

Incorrect. If he had lost the bet, he would have lost his $100 stake. By being paid out, he gets back that $100 plus the $2,200 winnings = $2,300 payout. It was $2,200 winnings against $100 outlay, or 22/1. Great effort nonetheless and well done to those who had the courage to back us. Enjoy your winnings! -
He did even better with leg spin.

Geez, well done mate! There must have surely been some sort of publicity angle as we're not certainties to win the flag at this stage. (BTW, if they paid out $2,300, the odds were 22 to 1 as $100 of that was your original stake) -

At what odds did they pay out, Tony? Surely not the 23/1 you started with? -
Percentage is irrelevant if we finish first or second.

1. Sideshow Bob kicked 5.2 today. Bring him in. 2. Mitch Brown went off injured early in today's game. Not in consideration. 3. There's only one "o" in Goulburn.

Petty doesn't rack up a lot of possessions but, more importantly, neither does his opponent and that is the key job of a defender. He's coming along OK and should only get better with more experience at this level.

* shoo-in

Because of his current connection with MFC carrying out the roles of on-ground announcer and host/mc at club functions.

I reckon Russell Robertson might get that gig.

Close enough, Skuit! Donald 'Duck' Dunn and Willie Hall were members of The Blues Brothers. Blueboy Jack Silvagni also had a brother (Ben) who played at Carlton for that delicious added layer of intrigue.

Come on mate, you know the drill. Surnames only!

Not them either!

Well done to Lord Nev for getting High Rise Bombers. That was the hard one!
-
Not them.

If you're referring to Painters and Dockers, there is no member called "Loewe".

That's correct WCW. You may need to think a little laterally for this one. The centre line is probably the most obscure of the lot.

Got it! Chris and Rich Robinson and Mark Ford played in the Black Crowes. Andrew McLeod was a Crow but common decency precludes me from adding a descriptor!

Two easy (ish) ones and one tricky one to go, thrillseekers!
-
Correct! They Might Be Giants have had members called Dan Hickey, Dan Miller and Kurt Hoffman. Toby Greene might also be a Giant.

The Hawks (later to become The Band) had members Robbie Robertson and Garth Hudson. The floodgates are now open!
