  1. Fantastic initiative by the Club, and great that we have finally reached a financial position where such things are affordable. Well done Melbourne Football Club. I don't recall ever seing similar (thank you) ads directed at members and supporters of any of the other clubs.
  2. For me there's always a touch of sadness when players who have been great servants of our Club are told that they are no longer part of the future, and in Belly's case, there's an extra tinge because he was so close to the late Broady.
  3. Agree Redleg, assuming that you include decision making as part of disposal. Today I lost count of the number of handballs, and to a lesser extent foot-passes, which were delivered to a team-mate who was immediately under pressure.
  4. Agree. The ground level shot on Fox looked awsome, but they didn't show the equivalent angle for Goddard's grab. Jurrah by a whisker for me.
  5. I disagree '99. Newton wasn't great, but I thought he contributed more around the ground than PJ has done in his recent games, he was no worse in the ruck.
  6. 6. Bruce (Great first half, solid second half, but a few costly errors) 5. Jurrah (Unbelievably exciting and very few, if any, errors) 4. McDonald (Very solid, as usual) 3. Scully (Lots of good, undone by too many disposal errors) 2. Rivers (Similar to Scully, but some of his errors were stupid and undisciplined) 1. McKenzie (Had to find someone for one vote, on a day when we had few 4 qtr. contribitors) Disappointing day! We have to learn to win at that bloody ground.
  7. Continuing to stoke the fire which started earlier in the year. Great to hear.
  8. Of all of the views expressed here, I think you've summed it up best Goodvibes.
  9. I would argue that a more significant reason that we did quite well this year is because the Club has made the right list management decisions over the last several years.
  10. ............... followed by the Roos in his farewell game. Congratulations Junior on an outstanding career. Gave everything he had in every game. A wonderful leader who who always put the team ahead of himself.
  11. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have formed the view that Anthony is a 'front runner' who doesn't work nearly hard enough when things aren't going his way. There's no place for that sort of attitude at Melbourne.
  12. Agree E25. I can't see that either of them have much more to offer than our own Juice, and I'm certainly not advocating his elevation.
  13. .......... plus a blindingly obvious one that wasn't given to Green, who was in range at a critical time in the last quarter. I agree that the umpiring errors probably didn't cost us the game, but momentum is a huge part of modern football!
  14. ............ and you think we won't be?
  15. Disappointing to lose, but so many things transpired against us today (Davey injury, the weather, a couple of crucial umpiring decisions at crucial times). So proud of the boys, and so much to look forward to. My votes: 6. Sylvia 5. Bail 4. McKenzie 3. Bruce 2. Rivers 1. Frawley
  16. Yeah, great article. I had heard from a couple of sources that Garlo is a champion bloke as well as a damn good footballer. This just confirms it.
  17. yep. If I recall correctly, Ferg. was still under contract at the time so we needed his agreement for the trade to go ahead. He declined, and that was the end of it.
  18. Absolutely. A great credit to our coaching staff and the players themselves.
  19. I hope you weren't being charged by the minute for thr football banter, Vagg.
  20. It's fantastic to be getting positive press. Three years ago the only news about Melbourne was about our precarious future, or the obligatory few lines about team selections on the fourth page of the sports section. I'm loving being newsworthy for all the right reasons.
  21. Excellent article...... and for me, the best bit of all is this quote from Jimmy the fourth last para 'The key ingredient is that we are a club'. It has been a magnificent transformation in such a short space of time. I'm so proud to be a Melbourne supporter
  22. Live in Canberra, I'm very happy to see.
  23. ....................................... And Beamer to miss again. Sandilands must have the pointiest knees in the league.
