  1. I think our list is more talented and has more depth to it, and over the next 5 to 6 years I reckon this will be decisive. Right now the Roos ladder position, and the fact that they have beaten us twice during the year, puts them ahead of us ............. but not by a huge margin when you look beyond a simple win/loss ratio for the season. I'm supremely confident that we will pass them during season 2012, if not next year.
  2. Agree. So close to the mark that most of us could have written it.
  3. Hard to disagree Jerry. Seems totally bereft of confidence at the moment, and he hasn't progressed as we would have hoped / expected. Hopefully, with a full pre-season, and no extended injury setbacks, he can develop the level self-belief that will be needed for him to hold down a regular spot in our team in 2011.
  4. I agree. I reckon that hamstring injury (the first I can remember him suffering, but I could be wrong there), and the time it took him to get over it, may have sounded the final siren on Junior's outstanding career. We just can't afford to have extended periods of injury inhibiting team progress (a la Whelan and Wheatley in 2009). Well done Junior, an un-sung hero of our game.
  5. 6. Jurrah 5. Dunn 4. Green 3. Scully 2. Frawley 1. Rivers
  6. I have no time at all for McLaren, or Barry Hall for that matter, but I couldn't help lol at this one: McLaren in response to a question about player sledging: Barry was very well known amongst the umpires for his colourful language, and was often penalised for it. One day he asked me .... Hall: "Can you pay 50 metres for what I am thinking?" McLaren: "No" Hall: "I'm thinking that you are a dick head."
  7. Yep. Great to learn about this, and very well done to both recipients.
  8. Outstanding documentary IMO ...... both eye opening and scary. Very much looking forward to Part 2.
  9. I'd love to see our Club produce a poster of LJ's mark. I'm sure that many of us Demons fans would be happy to buy one (especially if it wins MOTY). Maybe we could even do a quick whip around and sent a bundle of then to adorn the walls in Yuendumu.
  10. Fantastic initiative by the Club, and great that we have finally reached a financial position where such things are affordable. Well done Melbourne Football Club. I don't recall ever seing similar (thank you) ads directed at members and supporters of any of the other clubs.
  11. For me there's always a touch of sadness when players who have been great servants of our Club are told that they are no longer part of the future, and in Belly's case, there's an extra tinge because he was so close to the late Broady.
  12. Agree Redleg, assuming that you include decision making as part of disposal. Today I lost count of the number of handballs, and to a lesser extent foot-passes, which were delivered to a team-mate who was immediately under pressure.
  13. Agree. The ground level shot on Fox looked awsome, but they didn't show the equivalent angle for Goddard's grab. Jurrah by a whisker for me.
  14. I disagree '99. Newton wasn't great, but I thought he contributed more around the ground than PJ has done in his recent games, he was no worse in the ruck.
  15. 6. Bruce (Great first half, solid second half, but a few costly errors) 5. Jurrah (Unbelievably exciting and very few, if any, errors) 4. McDonald (Very solid, as usual) 3. Scully (Lots of good, undone by too many disposal errors) 2. Rivers (Similar to Scully, but some of his errors were stupid and undisciplined) 1. McKenzie (Had to find someone for one vote, on a day when we had few 4 qtr. contribitors) Disappointing day! We have to learn to win at that bloody ground.
  16. Continuing to stoke the fire which started earlier in the year. Great to hear.
  17. Of all of the views expressed here, I think you've summed it up best Goodvibes.
  18. I would argue that a more significant reason that we did quite well this year is because the Club has made the right list management decisions over the last several years.
  19. ............... followed by the Roos in his farewell game. Congratulations Junior on an outstanding career. Gave everything he had in every game. A wonderful leader who who always put the team ahead of himself.
  20. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have formed the view that Anthony is a 'front runner' who doesn't work nearly hard enough when things aren't going his way. There's no place for that sort of attitude at Melbourne.
  21. Agree E25. I can't see that either of them have much more to offer than our own Juice, and I'm certainly not advocating his elevation.
  22. .......... plus a blindingly obvious one that wasn't given to Green, who was in range at a critical time in the last quarter. I agree that the umpiring errors probably didn't cost us the game, but momentum is a huge part of modern football!
