Garry Lyon loves himself far more than he loves Melbourne.

Considering the tremendous gulf between our good players and our depth players, any match-fitness related reasons for not playing our returning injured surely pale in comparison to the benefits of playing them.

I think we're all waiting until round 1. If we get to 3 PM on Sunday the 31st and Chris Dawes, Jack Trengove, Sam Blease and Mitch Clark are all lining up for us, then I think everyone on Demonland will be itching to give Misson his due credit. But until then, we're all just holding our collective praise.

That's some harsh criticism, and if he doesn't make it as a coach it's definitely the way I'll remember him. But for now, I'm still buying into his quote unquote "tough talk" - and I hope the players are too.

Apart from the umpires letting players throw the ball when they're tackled, the answer is "Yes. The game is better." But it's also less enjoyable, since we haven't been any good at footy since I was in Year 10. That's just crazy!
