COVID & AFL 2021
Agree with all that, but it's a risky move for the AFL to put a lot of their eggs in a state that is currently experiencing community transmission/mystery cases and won't hesitate to lock the state down by tomorrow if they have more numbers today.

COVID & AFL 2021
Can someone please tell me why they AFL sent 6 clubs to a state that has mystery cases and might be a case away from their own lock down this weekend? I get Gil and his boys have done a great job during the pandemic (with a lot of help from state govts) but this one might be a case of out smarting themselves.

Very salient point indeed Jaded. We all need to sit on our lucky COVID couches that got us over the line for the Dogs and Lions games.

COVID & AFL 2021
Jon Ralph reporting that the St Kilda V Port game might get moved to Saturday afternoon to allow Port to get home that night. I wonder if our game gets moved to 7:25pm so channel 7 retain their Saturday night game. Not that it really matters as none of us can goโฆ

COVID & AFL 2021
Much happier to play this game at the G rather than at Metricon, assuming itโs staying at the G. Any chance our game can get moved to 1:45 given that timeslot is now vacant? Seems a bit silly to have 2 twilight games go head to head while Saturday arvo is empty.

COVID & AFL 2021
Hope not. I'd rather play this game at the G in front of nobody where we need to log as many minutes as possible at the venue we'll be playing finals at. Our last 2 performances at the G have been far from impressive after a 6 week hiatus from the G.

Tom McDonald
I'll be honest here - when I saw O Mac kick 2 goals as the sub for Carlton on opening night this year, I wished he was the sole McDonald on our list and not Tom. I may have even posted it in the round 1 non MFC thread.

COVID & AFL 2021
So the AFL is evacuating to a state that also has community transmission. Gil must really love the hub accommodation up there.

COVID & AFL 2021
Good. Hopefully nothing comes out of this little outbreak (no new cases today yet) and the Dees and Dogs will be at the G in round 20 in front of crowds.

If we lose to the Hawks, I will ...
Be pretty damn annoyed. We're playing for top 2 and a loss here may very well cost us top 2 considering we play Geelong at Geelong which is our hardest game on the run home. Incidentally Hawks are $7 to win. In our 3 losses, the oppo was around the $4.50 - $5.00 mark. Therefore it would be a next level upset if we lose this one.

COVID & AFL 2021
Agree with all the above. I know we've missed plenty of games this year but if you're choosing between being locked out of the Hawks game or the rd 20 Dogs game or a finals game, most would be copping the Hawks game.

Which MFC player have you met personally?
Yeah I had a chat to Wheatley once at a 21st birthday party. Heโs a very pleasant and down to earth fella.

COVID & AFL 2021
Restrictions are looming. Can anyone foresee the possibility of the 25K travel limit coming in but still letting people attend this weekend's footy, provided they don't travel more than 25K.

PODCAST: Rd 17 vs Port Adelaide LIVE @ 8:30pm (12/7) featuring Supermercado
Fantastic list Supermercado. Martin Heppell could be added to the list I reckon. (apologies if he already is there) Former St Kilda player that crossed to the Dees in 1995 and played against the Dogs at Optus Oval and West Coast at the WACA in rounds 4 and 5 of 1995. Alas we lost both games. https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/M/Martin_Heppell.html

Please no. I'd sooner tank the season than hub interstate again.

OPPOSITION WATCH: What They're Saying at Waverley Park
On SEN this morning, Kennett got on the blower this morning to wish the MFC luck for this year and hope we win the flag. I suddenly don't mind Hawthorn supporters.

FIXTURE: Rd 19 vs Gold Coast & Rd 20 vs Bulldogs
What do you hate about them? I'm not a fan of watching the Dees play on Thursday but more than happy to watch another game on a Thursday night.

FIXTURE: Rd 19 vs Gold Coast & Rd 20 vs Bulldogs
Heard a rumour that there will be no Thursday night games until week 1 finals. Judging by this fixture, I think that might be true.

Ladder Watch
Agreed. Suns have been good the past fortnight and a win over the Dogs isn't out of the question, if indeed the Dogs are having their obligatory slump. Hopefully when we play GC it will be a repeat of the Essendon win where we showed the opposition just enough respect to get the job done. It's the Hawthorn type game this weekend where we've had all sorts of problems this year.

Ladder Watch
Agree with all that. The narrative coming out post Anzac eve on the Richmond Bigfooty forum was "Can't wait to play Melbourne in the finals. We'll beat them when the games actually count" and "Kozzie Pickett's got a target on his back in the first qualifying final" I can only hope our supporters won't be as arrogant as Richmonds once we complete our 4peat.

TICKETING: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn
Once again. A horrible winter's day expected and yet they close off the level of the Southern stand that has all the undercover seating.

Which MFC player have you met personally?
Pretty consistent with other peopleโs interactions with Garry Lyon that you read about online.

Bumped into Clayton's Oliver's Mother while waiting around for an interstate game to start in 2018. If he's anything like his Mum, then I'd imagine Clarry would be a ripping nice bloke.
