  1. That is true but the feds recommend against it which doesn't help matters.
  2. As I said, Dan Andrews rubbished the idea yesterday that under 40's would miss out on attending if unvaccinated. He was clear in his opinion that the under 40's shouldn't be penalised for a vaccine supply shortage in this country. Andrews stated that it would be a different scenario if the vaccine was available and people chose not to be vaccinated. Those people would and should be precluded from attending. I couldn't care less if you think I have an awful attitude. My personal dream/goal/ambition is to see a premiership live at the MCG. Not in the loungeroom. I have no interest in handing over my priority access GF ticket to someone else because I'm ineligible to get the appropriate vaccine. I'm in my very very late 30's and currently ineligible for the Pfizer vaccine. I have been attending weekly games since the late 80's and went to every single game in the horrid Neeld era when we were getting 12,000 to some games. I have just as much right to see my club play in a grand final than any other loyal MFC members regardless of age, and would be bitterly upset if I was told I can't go for a reason out of my control despite having priority access to GF tickets.
  3. On the assumption that finals won’t be held at GHMBA, we can actually afford to finish 3rd or 4th with a pretty solid 4-2 run home. Brisbane losing was a great result for us in terms of avoiding potential travel in week 1. The only risk of finishing 3rd or 4th is if we play Dogs at Marvel. But we’ve won 9 of our last 12 games at Marvel so that ground shouldn’t hold fears for us. As mentioned, we should be targeting a 4-2 finish and achieving our wins record of 17 in a season.
  4. I’m in favour of this idea provided they remove the pre finals bye.
  5. From a purely case number point of view, this has a two week lockdown written all over it as per our last May lockdown. I don’t expect our next MCG game to be in front of crowds until round 22 against Adelaide. Hope Im wrong.
  6. Dan Andrews quickly shut that idea down. Thats completely unfair on the under 40 cohort who want a vaccine but can’t get one, as opposed to overseas where supply exceeds demand in some countries.
  7. Good result tonight. If we go 4-2 for the rest of the year, we sow up a top 3 spot and avoid a week 1 interstate trip. The destiny is well and truly in our own hands and we only have ourselves to blame if we drop games to one or more of Hawthorn, GC , West coast or Adelaide.
  8. And he’s supposed to be the best caller on the land who will be calling this years grand final. Dennis and Bruce ought to be embarrassed that they’ve handed over the chief commentary duties to Taylor.
  9. J Riewoldt - 6 goals in his 300th. If you’re not a fan, I urge you to not watch AFL 360 next week with Gerard and Slobbo. They might make a passing reference or 2 during the week.
  10. Yeah but he’s been making sloppy mistakes since channel 9 won the tv footy rights in 2002.
  11. He just struggled to identify who Trent Cotchin was, who I’m pretty sure has been around longer than IPhone 1’s.
  12. Genuinely felt like a Dees home game that night at the Gabba.
  13. Can anyone confirm if Lynch is playing tonight?
  14. Who do we want to win? Richmond so we can keep Brisbane away from top 2? Or do want to kill Richmond off for good?
  15. All but… Pending professor dodge ball’s decision in SA.
  16. Jon Ralph on Fox Footy is absolutely emphatic our game is now 7:25pm.
  17. Hawthorn’s injury list is next level and if we come with last week’s intensity we should have a comfortable win. It’s a big IF though.
  18. Agree with all that. Feels like tradition's going out the window in exchange for some much needed recouped COVID 19 funds. If the grand final is moved to Perth, you'd want to hope we haven't been locked down for at least 4 weeks. That way MFC members with guaranteed GF tickets will be able to fly over. If VIC is really that desperate to hold the GF, they'll magically adjust the formula.
  19. AFL grand final likely to be moved according to Tom Morris's opinion piece. I actually agree with his points. A special thanks to the NSW removalists and the returning family that had to duck into Coles to pickup that all important bottle of dishwashing liquid. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-latest-news-2021-grand-final-venue-covid-updates-mcg-deal-victoria-covid-lockdown-fixture-updates-tom-morris/news-story/b8b406ee23bb97f71ccf28335c640fe8
  20. You'd imagine by 7pm tonight. If no news by tonight, then games will surely stay as is.
  21. Given how we've performed against poor teams this year, percentage is the furthest thing from my mind. Just the 4 points will do thanks. Bank the wins and top 2 will look after itself.
  22. Or they move GC V Bulldogs to the night and we retain the 4:35pm slot??
  23. Agree with all that, but it's a risky move for the AFL to put a lot of their eggs in a state that is currently experiencing community transmission/mystery cases and won't hesitate to lock the state down by tomorrow if they have more numbers today.
  24. Can someone please tell me why they AFL sent 6 clubs to a state that has mystery cases and might be a case away from their own lock down this weekend? I get Gil and his boys have done a great job during the pandemic (with a lot of help from state govts) but this one might be a case of out smarting themselves.
  25. Very salient point indeed Jaded. We all need to sit on our lucky COVID couches that got us over the line for the Dogs and Lions games.
