  1. I’d have no issue if we had to play Port in Adelaide in a grand final despite us being the higher ranked side. It’s absolutely no different to when Collingwood hosted West Coast in 2018, Richmond hosted Adelaide in the 2017 grand final, Dogs playing in their home state against Sydney in 2016, Hawthorn hosting West Coast in 2015, Hawthorn hosting Sydney in 2014 or even the minor premiers West Coast against Hawthorn in 1991.
  2. Would 1 dose and a confirmed negative test be sufficient?
  3. Caroline Wilson reporting that Gary Pert wants all finals that Melbourne play in to be at the MCG, crowds or no crowds. Wilson has also mooted that Adelaide Oval may be an option if Port make the GF. Eddie reckons the pre finals bye might be scrapped and a MCG GF be held on 18 September.

  5. Optus only holds 5,000 more than Adelaide.
  6. I said quite comfortable in a respectable prelim loss. Quite comfortable does not mean happy. Me Happy would be winning a flag. Keep in mind that we finished outside the 8 last year and a top 4 finish would’ve been a fantastic proposition if you were given that in March 2021. A 3rd or 4th place finish with a gusty prelim performance would be a terrific achievement and an excellent stepping stone to greater things going forward given our brilliant list profile. I certainly take your point about RDB, the Rev and our older folks.
  7. Firstly, please quote where I said “I don’t want to win the flag this year”. You’re putting words in my mouth. Secondly, I have the first dose of the AZ so not sure where you got that one from. Thirdly, sympathies to your pal, Fourthly, I’ve got two seperate memberships valued at $1,600 that guarantee me GF tickets so pardon me for being a little disappointed if I’m not being able to attend.
  8. Totally emphasise with your thoughts. Particularly for those that usually go week in week out.
  9. Thanks mate. But it looks like it will be elsewhere and the sooner some of us (i.e - me) come to terms with it the better.
  10. A Red Legs and an AFL Gold membership (MFC support) Id back myself in with 2 seperate memberships that guarantee GF tickets ordinarily.
  11. Yeah, I want to go the game desperately. You got an issue with that? Do you expect me to happy about missing a potential grand final and premiership after going week in week out to see Melbourne play since 1990, including fronting up every week, to the Neeld days of 2012 and 2013. All the while dreaming of seeing the boys hold the cup live at the home of football, but at the same time thinking that it would never happen. Add in the continuous lockdowns that Victorians have suffered (a few more than your side of the country) it would’ve been nice to enjoy a finals series at the MCG. So I make no apologies to you for how I’m feeling on this topic.
  12. I’m quite comfortable in the boys putting in a gallant prelim performance (as opposed to 2018) and then going one step further next year at the home of footy.
  13. The irony isn’t delicious.
  14. Whateley reckons if the lockdown gets extended past next Thursday then that’s it for finals in VIC. See ya all next year.
  15. I wonder if they’d look at bringing finals back to the MCG for the prelim if they can get 40K to the game. And then unfortunately move the show back to Optus for the GF. Can’t see crowds for week 1 in VIC but can for 18 Sep if this outbreak dies down by the end of the month. I’m sure the Dees would love to play a home final (if earned the right) at the G in front of the faithful as opposed to Optus.
  16. Not a snowflakes chance in hell is McGowan going to let the average punter into WA for the GF if we have community case of transmission after August 28. Even if they’re fully vaccinated. And this is precisely why the grand final should be in Adelaide rather than Perth - less onerous border rules but still able to have roughly the same crowd at an equally excellent venue.
  17. I absolutely holdout hope it won't be in WA despite the fact that it probably will be. Fantastic for a tiny portion of our membership base but the absolute pits for the majority that would do anything to get over for a once in a lifetime opportunity but simply can't. If Victoria maintains its medium risk status as late as 14 days prior to the grand final I don't think anyone can enter WA unless under limited circumstances. I don't think travelling over for a footy game qualifies. No chance people can fly over under any circumstance My understanding is that if VIC is downgraded to low risk prior to 11 September (14 days prior to GF), then anyone can fly over but must quarantine for 14 days. They would then be able to attend the GF. If VIC is downgraded to low risk after 11 September and within 14 days of the grand final, then people can fly over but would have to quarantine for 14 days and would miss the GF If VIC is downgraded to very low risk before the GF then anyone can fly over without quarantining. I could be wrong but that's my understanding per below. https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/covid-communications/covid-19-coronavirus-controlled-border#mr
  18. Not sure if todays numbers are more a positive or a negative. 20 new cases (negative) 70% fully quarantined (positive) which is a sharp rise from yesterday's 25%.
  19. When you put it like that, a part of me is happy to wait until next year assuming we’re in a multiple year window. Such a multitude of traditional and special events that us die hards could miss out on this year after waiting all these years. If Melbourne actually doesn’t go into another lockdown prior to GF week I’d hope the AFL and state governments can do all they can to allow VICs to travel over to whatever state the grand final is.
  20. I’d be surprised if the AFL didn’t book out the Joondalup resort for a month.
  21. The combo of the red hair and the #17 takes me back to the Halcion days of 2011 and 2012 watching Sam Blease light up the MCG. If Bowey can be half as good as... Nar forgot that, he overtook Blease by quarter time of his debut.
  22. He shouldn’t remind me of Sam Blease, but he does. Couldn’t be more impressed with his first 2 career games. Has an amazing amount of composure and he’ll learn from the HTb call in the last qtr.
  23. I'm a believer that if you throw a bunch of darts on the board, eventually you'll hit the target. Hence I think Port are well overdue to beat a top 4 side in the Dogs, and I see that game as a 50/50.
  24. Typical. While us Melburnians can't attend a game to save ourselves, the locals will be able to attend the Geelong V Melbourne game.
  25. I was totally against winning a flag by default but with all the COVID uncertainty and the fact that 99% of our membership base probably won't see a final live this year, I now say bring that idea on.
