  1. Unless Fritsch has peaked after year 4 and goes backwards from now on, I would be amazed if Fritta doesn't go down as the best player to ever wear the #31 since Barassi. A 59 goal season headlined by a 6 goal haul in a GF win has him in pole position from the list mentioned by the OP. Grimes looked like he was going to be an absolute beauty circa 2009/2010. Not sure if it was injuries, the burden of being captain at 22 or if he quite frankly wasn't that good of a player??
  2. Petty played 19 games in 2021, for the record. The draft experts at the time suggested we were getting a gem in Petty. Given the 30 game sample on offer, it’s hard to argue. He should be a fine and very dependable defender for the Dees when he’s up to the 100 game mark. The big question is does Tomlinson replace Petty next year as that 3rd defender who plays on the talls? If yes, then Petty might have to contend with T Mac for a key fwd role. If no, then Tomlinson may have to reinvent himself as a winger which he wasn’t good at in early 2020, or play for Casey. Good problems to have.
  3. Sylvia played 2 or 3 games that were up there with the best of what Petracca and Oliver are capable of. A game against Hawthorn in 2009 comes to mind.
  4. Good news. Do the experts around here reckon he’s any good?
  5. Feels like this guy's been around forever. I can recall him playing against us at the G one day, way back when Dean Bailey was coaching us. I'd take him for minimum chips, but he strikes me as someone who would demand a bit of kanga despite getting delisted.
  6. I know you're taking the micky but MFC playing games at Optus reeks of another winter long lockdown in Victoria in 2022.
  7. That one was out at Waverley.
  8. ^^^^ Great, so clubs will probably still have to quarantine in WA between rounds 1 and 15, despite the rest of Australia being opened up. Hopefully we don't need to travel there in the early rounds.
  9. Perth must have a severe shortage of nightclubs if both sides found themselves at the same club.
  10. I'm hearing the event will be a 3:20pm start so channel 7 can cut to the news directly after.
  11. I’ll just be happy to see a game in person next year. Couldn’t care if it’s the Tuesday morning timeslot.
  12. Didn't realise he only played 2 Casey games for the year. Hopefully he can emulate Bowey and crack the side in the second half of the year, and contribute.
  13. You can add a trip down to there to the established 2 certainties in life. Just because we won a flag and Collingwood almost won the spoon, you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be sent to Geelong before them.
  14. Even if we cop Mother’s Day next year I’m sure all the Mums out there will give their Demon tragics a leave pass given how much footy we’ve missed lately! Can definitely handle a Friday and Thursday night to open the season. Also hoping for plenty of Saturday arvo games as you can’t beat going to the MCG during that time slot IMO.
  15. I suppose why waste a GF blockbuster replay on a round 1 game, when round 1 games generally attract higher crowds anyway due to the buzz/excitement factor of a new season and good weather. I'm not certain of the exact reason but I'm assuming my above explanation is a factor.
  16. They haven't had a round 1 grand final replay since 2009.
  17. The AFL is averse to playing GF replays in round 1, so while it may happen it’s no certainty. Would be a fantastic way to open the season though- Our first Friday night game at the G since 2019.
  18. Blokes like Bedford and Chandler and others really need an uninterrupted full season of VFL footy for their development. They’ve been absolutely crucified by 2020- playing 12 on 12 scrimmages at the back oval of Metricon Stadium and 2021 - missing half the VFL season due to lock downs. I liked his practice match performance way back in Feb 2020 against North at Arden Street. Kicked a classy goal and looked the part. Hopefully he can hit the ground running if he gets a game next year like Bowery did this year, and adds to us having the best depth in the AFL.
  19. Adelaide should consider sacking her.
  20. Hopefully crowds are allowed back in Victoria next season and we’re not moving home games and home finals interstate again. I know crowds should be back but I’ve learned not to take anything for granted when it comes to how this state continually cops COVID in the neck.
  21. Any chance WA closes its border to COVID states for the entire 2022 AFL season. If so, hubs will be back on the agenda I'd say. It most certainly won't be opened any earlier than April.
  22. Has Buckenara increased his rating from a C+ yet? (the same value as J Wagner)
  23. I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for those blokes who have to spend the next few months in the clink. If it’s good enough for RDB, Daniher, Mann, Neitz, Schwarz and other Demon Royalty to miss out on seeing a premiership live, then it’s good enough for these nobodies.
  24. The Melbourne supporter and bar owner just got a 3 month sentence in the can for illegally entering WA.
