Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
FritschyBusiness replied to binman's topic in Melbourne Demons
No doubt Chocco's focus on kicking skills has been a huge impact as well. We've never kicked this well. I think the way the place is humming is due to the recent changes in staff and management at the club. -

Round 13 it returns with a vfl match on kayo/fox footy until then -
Why not get excited? The lids off, its way off. We have the cattle, the game plan and the coaches to go all the way. The players are resigning on long deals at a rapid rate. Everything (bar Tomlinsons injury) is going right at the club for once. However it’s very competitive at the top end of the ladder, there’s about 6 teams that have shown enough to suggest they can win it all this year. Just being a team that can contend, come back in games when challenged and win games gets me excited. We are a competitive chance to win any game, against anyone in the competition and that is enough to get excited about.

Surely we can go back to Max floating back behind the ball taking intercept marks so May can be more lockdown? This may give Jacko more time in the ruck after the initial bounce moving him up the ground opening up space in the forward line for another tall. -
so keen to see this set up

He played well in their VFL match, Kicked 4 and handed 2 easy ones off. I hope he does well, I'll be watching GWS games just to see how he goes

Players Winning Percentage in the Red and Blue
FritschyBusiness replied to FritschyBusiness's topic in Melbourne Demons
FUN FACT James Jordon is the first player to win his first 6 games since..... Charlie Spargo in 2018 R6-11 Bonus facts: The next best is 7 winning games by Brian Dunsford in 1957 where he played 7 games that year, all wins and didn't play another season with anyone. James Jordon has the chance this week to equal this The second best is 13 wins in a row by Alby Rodda in 1939 winning 9 games (including a flag) continuing on to win his first 4 games of 1940 after missing round 1. The best streak by a Melbourne player is Bryan Kenneally's first 14 games were all wins with 2 played in 1959 and 12 played in 1960. After his first two seasons he had a record of 17 games 16-3 and one premiership. -

The Charlie Spargo Appreciation Thread

Spargoat -
I'd like to see one of Weed or Brown in the side because whilst were 6-0 and in great form, I don't know if we can beat the bulldogs or the power later in the year or in finals without one of them in the side. Both take great marks and would be in our top 5 in the team for accuracy on set shots which, when they are marking and kicking goals you dont have to defend and lock the ball in the forward 50 as much. Who comes out? I got no idea haha

I think the Spargoat tackle on Houli was what changed the momentum in the first q and is my favourite moment of the game because of that. -

we've found a way to win in 5 games which all have had moments where we could have gone to water and lost. It's so nice sitting at the footy feeling confident were going to win. There were so many supporters at the game yesterday groaning and sooking when players made decisions thinking we were going to lose and I was just sitting there with a smile on my face thinking, nuh we got this... and we did.

The Tom McDonald dilemma
FritschyBusiness replied to david_neitz_is_my_dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tmac plays his role really well and is in good form, his role is not FF, bringing in B.Brown for M.Brown will not affect his position. Tmac is no longer a defender and will not be played back. If you listen to Gus and Gawny they mentioned every player has a 1st role and a 2nd role that they play. Toms is half forward and wing, he gets up the ground and takes marks connecting with forwards and then runs back into the F50 to be an option when we play our locking it in gamestyle. Weed was good today but kicked 7 on a 20 year old defender whose name I cant remember and he did not perform the week before in the practice game. (3 of his goals came from free kicks) I'd bring BBB in to straighten us up and give us a big target up forward which we will desperately need against the tigers.
