Bennell looks a real chance Martin still can pick him if we have the balls and money fir 2 years I still rate Sam Gray Lachie Henderson snd Maybe Sam Murray as players who could play a role in 2020 (and beyond) if we take a chance Gray is a Corey Wagner type who is more advanced and kicks goals Henderson is an experienced and versatile KPF and KPD who on a one year contract would give great depth while not undermining Harry Petty's career development. Murray is a speedster who may be fast on a wing or on half back especially if injuries occur. Supporters don't realise that the more you raise the bar in depth means the more the young developing players have to go to forge their career. It's a win win. Last years draft youngsters need to be challenged for their position for the Seniors through improvement and training and therein also lies the creation of depth and culture which exists at Clubs like Cats Hawks Swans And now Tigers And we need to foster this from 2018 and before but went missing last year in the medical room and surgery recovery workout gyms and running tracks! How will this affect the crowd at the Friday Eve Anzac game? Any other (if scheduled and I don't believe it will be) would be in WA or SA where previous Anzac games have been held. These days games are 95% attended by the Clubs supporters (MCC members 15/20% more no doubt) so no effect in any way. Our game is locked in and FTA TV also. We just need to win 2,3,4,or all of our opening 5 or win 2 in a row prior to get 70,000 plus or even more.

Was the West Coast game in Perth (R 14 I think) and he was injured as well. He was as good as Joel Selwood in this game and his last quarter extra significant in getting us across the line, oh with Tommy's 5 goals and that last famous kick. Thst is a benchmark as us the 2 Finals in 2018 and if he can get fitness and form like that our season will be a good one no doubt.

We actually need Joel forward so really don't know and don't care at this stage. No doubt he will be placed back if needed or he fails to deliver up front. He is very X factor which we need and deserves a full season of fitness to perform up to his considerable ability.

Absolutely Mel the next best player is apparently Young and we are crying out for class and skill in numerous positions in other words finishing expertise and the highlights for young Haydn have got No 3 and our requirements all over them. Whether he excels as a half back Centre man or on baller his talent is needed. And while we are At it let's continue on that theme and get a No 8 with all round skills maybe Kemp or Ash or Weightmen or Jackson. One must be available if we do not split this pick.

He is not even with us yet Decisive and you wish to change his position! Let Young get settled (if we get him) in his position (half back) and play his role. in case you are not aware we have just recruited two players called Langdon and Tomlinson allegedly who are wingers or play that position. Langdon's highlight reel show him kicking goals and passing to forwards! I hope we get Young snd that he makes half back his own for a decade or more as he transcends the line with smart play snd brilliant long kicking (in his highlights). But if in his evolution as a player he also can go into the midfield (or wing) then we have a potential A grader which we all crave as sorely needed at present.

What's your point re Young ? He looks to fill both bills fast as in speed with run from half back and brilliant decision making as in that pass on the highlights reel that set up the goal for a win. Most if our players are often hamstrung for such vision and it is instinctive in Young it looks like!

As a Lions home ground Gabba watcher over his career my take would be his only flaw is a lack of ability ie skill. But he ticks many boxes and is one if the most determined competitors around. Personally I would prefer if we chased Sam Gray or Alan Christiansen as I believe our needs in that small crumbing goalkicking forward role are greater.but Nick R would not be a bad rookie either.
