  1. Essendon? Dees? Bulldogs? Pies? Hawks? Essendon probably got the most $ to throw esp with Saad/Danniher on the way out.

Good news, not sure about the 5th year but hopefully he proves me wrong. Happy he remains a demon for life.
  3. Thought it was an interesting like

Happy playing Tmac up forward if he gets his body right. If we're chasing goals late in a game dont mind switching him and May who can use his strength etc.
  5. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/821186 Three Demons sign on Tom Sparrow, Harry Petty and Joel Smith have agreed to new contracts

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2020/10/01/melbourne-defender-expected-to-depart-club/ Article by Sam Edmund about Oscar Likely leaving. has the below on Tom "Oscar’s brother Tom McDonald has also been the subject of trade speculation, but is set to stay at Melbourne where he still has two years to run on a contract. It’s believed Tom has vowed to change his body shape in a bid to recapture the form as a key forward that helped the Demons make the 2018 preliminary final. In an attempt to add strength and avoid getting pushed off the ball, he lost his athleticism and gut-running ability to get up and back. He will now work to strip weight over summer."

Result/Performances aside he's played in a Grand Final, the furthest any of our crop have gone! He didn't really impact games at GWS, just plays his part. We're shambolic in a shambolic year, i'll hold all my judgment off until 2021 is completed.

@DeeSpencer Would you call Tomlinson an update on Frost/OMac at least?

now that is a level of ruthless we must aspire to aha
  10. The bumping of this thread made me concerned he had made the decision to leave
  11. Well we are after a big bodied forward who can score?
  12. I always assumed Burgo wanted 1 year to keep his options open, not sure if he wanted to return to European football etc. Hoping he is not lost

wonder if it was a laconic hit and run
  14. When he was announced the club said "MELBOURNE has recruited world renowned fitness expert Darren Burgess to oversee the club’s fitness and medical program for the 2020 season." If we lose Burgo before we can take advantage of his skills with the normal length games/season i will go outside and scream obscenities into the air

That was my rationale too. Although questions are out some of the long term futures of the names listed

Seems MFC website creator very much conflicted about what Tomlinson's role is. Given the whispers on targets, imagine he'll remain in the backline.

Think ANB a decent depth player, but in a position where we have some other alternatives. If it helps us re-balance then so be it.

The age debate for Maxy reminds me of this classic Premier League interaction on twitter.

Wonder what Stats Langdon will be pulling on the G
  20. Sad end. Hopefully the club can still support him. I know the fine was his fault but he's probably hating himself right now due to the COVID breach and letting the club down and quite possibly throwing away the his 'last chance', the only thing he knows in life/wanted to do. The comments left by "fans" on his social media won't be helping either way. He needs support and not a pile on. I know they're younger and the breaches were different but I don't recall seeing as many online negative comments against Spargo/Pickett. I might be wrong here, but I guess some fans felt extra hurt by this one. (Don't get me wrong he should have known better etc but we don't know what other people are going through). Tantamount to a long term break up really.

Makes me think of Sergio Romero, was happy earning £95,000 a week at Manchester United and playing sporadically, but now there is a younger Reserve keeper and Sergio wants to leave. Much Like Preuss/LJ situation but without the swimming pool full of money ala Uncle Scrooge
  22. Melbourne gave him an opportunity and Harley had one last chance to test/prove himself. Lack of VFL didn't help but seemingly (from an outsive POV) he either lost the appetite (or has more important things going on his life) or knew his body wasn't up to it. With Burgo in charge you assume the club gave him the best chance of succeeding medically but unfortunately it didn't seem to work out but at least he got back on the pitch and had one last good memory. The COVID indiscretion/fall out does leave the experiment with a sour taste unfortunately though.

AVB is the bull, pity more teams don't wear red.
  24. Pity it didn't work. Did enjoy his first goal for the club and the players getting around him. Seems the spirit and trust in him may have waned based on some of the comments above though.

It's an interesting from a terminology point of view that it's crept into sport terminology, case in point Dimitar Berbatov (now retired Ex Bayern Leverkusen, Tottenham, Man United, etc) This is from a Sky Sports article in 2010; "the obligatory description of Berbatov as 'languid' or 'laconic'. The tabloids content themselves with 'lazy'. It's a thin line."
