  1. people forget BBB used to run 15kms a game at north he was a real workhorse in his prime and burnt his oppo going back to goal and then spinning them and coming back up at the leg. thoughts therefore on sexton? smaller but a lot craftier and generally doesnt miss a snap from within 30-35.
  2. can everyone stop mentioning tomlinson as potentially an outward trade please, like its just not realistic and not going to happen, also we would likely not grant it either, when one may/petty injury away from tomlinson playing 15-20 games in a season again. hes a required player
  3. do they pick a new date or is it the same date?
  4. no, thatd be the risk we'd have totake but we would obviously discuss with his agent where other interest was coming from and how strong it was before making any decisions
  5. players have been "retired" off far better seasons than he's had tbf, just ask lachie henderson last year at the cats, played 22 games at FB of a prelim side FEB could be grabbed as a cat b rookie. if rosman and chandler do in fact trade places, then we'd only have to delist/trade one senior player and one rookie to have our allotted 3 picks. as our list is currently set up as 36 senior players and 6 A rookies. by losing jackson and mbrown and daw we would then be able to have 4 A rookies and go up to 38 senior players. meaning we have 3 picks.
  6. congrats marty (should definitely be playing afl level still), kye, mitch and dunny
  7. you also can't have played an afl final and then return to the lower level, not sure how that applies to being an unused medisub in smiths case
  8. according to kane "port adelaide" cornes, im not buying what a ridiculous thought, clearly he just never really got over that knee issue properly, calling someone done after one injury at the age of 25... ludicrous!
  9. i think having skimmed through everyones posts to try and pick the relevant stuff out of the frustration theres a pretty key theme featuring and its about our offensive or forward work. and i completely agree. whenever we tried to change lanes nd lower our eyes to hit targets there were none there. our forwards simply just were not hitting up at the leg whatsoever. clearly a marking tall is a necessity brown can hardly get off the ground and everytime we kicked it to him i was just imagining it was lynch or mckay there who just squeeze the thing so hard that it is impossible that anyone could possibly punch it away. and i want us to play more offensive small forwards, the combination of ANB, spargo, and a resting mid usually sparrow sometimes viney or harmes is too much dead forwards, we dont have an issue with getting it down there our mids do that part well week in week out but we dont have enough players who can change the game and have that real zip and spark around goal. compare them to the hawks dynasty side with breust gunston poppy and cyril all big goal kickers. even the lions side today with mccarthy rayner bailey and charlie all huge goal kickers. or the way the tiges operated for 5 years. we just dont get the same goal nous and scoreboard pressure from our guys. bedford shouldve been given more chances as when he got ball in hand he looked likely inside 50 and couldve made more impact. my other issue is with goody's favouratism of players. sparrow was serviceable post bye, didnt really have a super down day where u go geez only the 5-6 touches where was he but also didnt go 20+ and really dominate a game, was there anything more at all dunstan couldve done at vfl level to take his spot, but it was never really in danger was it, so there was no real hunger to stay in the side, compare that to the lions who dropped robinson, mathieson and prior today after a massive win last week in a final. similar story when laurie was really pressing mid year and ANB and spargs were down or with JVR towards the backend of the year. i was finally happy when i saw at least he had a plan and the players were aware of it and familiar with it with 3 minutes to go of the last quarter. petty swung forward, may drifted closer to goal too and the wingmen took up super offensive positioning and the HBs surged through the centre square to try and get the ball going forward
  10. sinclair has retired, naismith hasnt played a game in two years and is likely done at the eos as well, theres no way 34yo hickey moves again and ladhams only just got there. theres no way they let second yearer stretch mcandrew go and you'd think reid sees out his time there. so again its back to mclean or amartey and then it comes down to what does franklin do because if he goes at least one of them becomes required again whilst they certainly improve their side, look at tim kelly's move to WCE as a warning to both these blokes, dont join a side after a flag because even though they improve their mids their overall side is getting weaker by the season. wouldnt surprise me at all if they slide out of the 8 next year and then the year after that they woulda lost grimes, cotch, riewodt and its beginning to look quite dire imo wouldnt say hes been injury prone he had a broken jaw and nose which is just unlucky and shows hes prepared to body line it and a shoulder reco from a similar collision.
  11. absolutely we should, he can play at afl level to some extent and given he would essentially join as a delisted FA potentially even as a rookie after the SSP period he would be a worthwhile consideration for the mbrown role at 7 years his age with the potential to play senior football in place of weid at any stage over that length of time and should weid also decide to make a similar move. francis no, he's not a tall and he's not a small and he's not super athletic like a joel smith or gary rohan, hes just a big lump who has never really found his groove, also has some off-field things which might not bode well to a squad role at another melbourne based side as he's already shown this to disgruntle him at essendon. ham probably not worth targetting, we could get a player with exactly the same output at the draft from what i've seen but again like schache, if he's still there post draft dont see why we couldnt invite him to train for the summer. being a good runner doesnt make you a good footballer tho setterfield probably does get another 1yr deal next year potentially it could be a demotion to the rookie list tho. could see him working as part of a hawks midfield turnover his inside numbers at vfl level were through the roof but at afl level he gets pushed out to the wing due to depth. but at HH he would replace omeara/titch/worpel who r all out of favour in mitchells eyes and hes a better footballer than connor nash
  12. we'll to some extent i agree, if it was up to me i probably woulda persevered with any of hore, declase or lockhart last year over baker but clearly we felt our defensive depth was stronger than our wing depth at the time. and mbrown deserved this year on our list and has done no harm by being on it. and if you read my comment properly i said offering voice and leadership at casey and breaking that potential divide between the regular afl side and a group of up to 10 players on our list now aged 21 and under who hadn't tasted any senior football at all going into the year aside from 7 games of boweys.
  13. ok so say we moved on another two mature depth players last year for 18yo's suddenly we have zero depth, tbh we got relatively lucky again with injuries this season where we were able to swing the magnets for these one week injuries and essentially stay ahead of them rather than compiling multiple week injuries. also if we'd delisted them both last year then we'd have reached this point in the season with a mandatory three list changes to make and no obvious candidates, you need to keep some balance, these players know the club the training standards the game plan sometimes just having a few extra familiar voices can add a lot and help bridge the gap to the fresh faces entering the club each year at casey. last year we shifted on 6 players in the 22-26 age bracket some rather unfairly imo as well as two 30yo veterans thats a lot of strong mature bodies off the list in one go, it would've been irresponsible to do any more than that.
  14. i was doing some analysis before and i realised we only need to delist two players at EOS to meet afl criteria. for the purpose of the exercise i've nominated mbrown who has done his 3yr rookie stint and is 32 and baker who didn't play a snr game and has been on the list for 5 years. chandler getting upgraded uses one pick and takes bakers list slot. taking us from 35senior 5A1B to 35S 4A1B and mbrown delisting takes us down to 35S 3A1B. this means we can then change our list structure from the 36S 6A1B setup we had this year to the 38S (either 3 draftees ontop of the chandler upgrade) or 37S (only two draftees plus chandler) and 4A1B (could be 2B if finn emile-brennan goes all the way through. everyone seems to think we need to make lots of calls and i get we want to find ways to improve our list etc etc but its interesting how it can be manipulated in certain ways if theres nothing we like. and we could have 2 rookie spots to trial players over the SPP and trial up to 6 players for those spots on a realistic universe
  15. they've got aish and NOD on the wings already plus they put liam henry through there and erasmus/johnson from last years draft and rookie karl warner as well as hughes and wilson who played snr games there, they can afford to let him go if it means not overpaying fringe players.
  16. i would've loved zurhaar for that marking ability but also the pressure and presence at ground level that he has
  17. taking the spot of some more youth atm
  18. having one injury interrupted year particularly the type of injuries he has had, doesnt scream injury prone
  19. just because he plays as the deepest forward/starts in the goalsquare doesn't mean hes a KPF it just means hes dangerous in that area and/or is good 1on1 thats two very different things. he isnt about to floor a whole pack of players on centre wing but he might fly above them, but he wont skittle them yeh my point being TDK is playing at his boyhood club already same as harmesy, a completely different scenario to players who were drafted to other clubs
  20. agree with everything youve said o55
  21. keeler is a crows NGA player but unlikely to get to the necessary 40 pick cutoff, i wonder if they go early on him given the rumours on frampton to pies, tex's age and mcaseys slow development. iirc he was top 10 if not top 5 in ed pascoes EARLY rankings as in end of season 21 rankings
  22. whilst i agree losing both is bad. i think whoever stays -seemingly chandler will fall behind laurie as well next year. and AMW is definitely showing improvement in that small forward role too
  23. they grew up as blues fans iirc
  24. would also be in the market for 2-3 2022 membership scarves seemed to have missed the collection somehow this season
  25. 26yo was a mature age pickup from the vfl as part of the suns assistance package 4 years ago. 190cm but solidly built at 90kgs good third tall who flies for the footy i would say gunston model but he's probably more of a mcstay build/pressence in terms that i'm not sure how quick he is but in a 1v1 wrestle or standing under a pack he probably goes better. has 29 goals from 33 games at afl level and kicked 25.15 from 10 vfl games before the weekends haul. doesn't appear to be much of a tackler though yeh he's always good for 3-4 scoring shots a game, but low possesion player atm but can see him getting up the ground in future, he's elite overhead and strong on the lead. he's gonna be a star. has genuine x-factor will be a top top player don't think you could play all three of them without a second genuine tall/resting ruck set up. whilst henry and fritta are good overhead if you put bodywork into them they lose their explosiveness and the reason they are so dangerous as forwards is because they get matchups that favour them in terms of size/height
