  1. josh corbett who took 17 marks and kicked 4.4 in the suns elim final win over BH is on the radar of the lions to replace mcstay and the dockers to replace lobb, wonder if we'd ask the question as a depth option as well given our talls situation
  2. all the initial reports are saying geelong which makes sense given touhy and o'connor are so settled and ingrained there as well as his apparent connection with pops kelly from their time at the dons but i hope we're in play here. ticks a lot of boxes. excellent balance between elite kicking and blistering pace, would arrive as a DFA so no cost included in picking him up and would be an ideal replacement for hibbo long term and by joining us he'd get a proper chance at a flag. we also have the irish heritage and connection ingrained inour clubs history which could be appealing to mckenna, every irishman looks up to jim and the chance to play for the same team is surely a lure. sidenote, how on earth are teh cats fitting in Hopper, McKenna, Grundy, Bruhn and Bailey Scott? asking for a mate
  3. i think Declase, Hore and Dunstan make the final side
  4. rkn he'll wrap up now, he was super smart, think like a 99 ATAR and his back has held him back since he signed with carlton, probably time for the next stage
  5. we're already losing Majak and assumably MBrown as talls off the list (given his 3yr rookie time is up) with serious Q's over Weids ability/want to stay and just make up the numbers and TMac's lisfranc, we need the balance of an extra tall on the list. Baker -agree Rosman -agree Hunt -agree Hibbo/Melky - i think get 1yrs regardless Jackson -agree Bedford -stays i rkn but yes is OOC
  6. im expecting him to be a second cat b rookie tbh
  7. little spiel from the HS
  8. who would u replace them with?
  9. had a crack at putting a side together on zerohanger from the 44. rkn this is pretty fair. maybe sicily to CHB and a different BP in but couldn't really press a case for any too hard. and tossed up the macrae spot possibly for trac but i think he hasn't been as good as last year or it could be a witts/CCameron/stengle in that order
  10. close this thread @admins
  11. OOC in 2023 but i can't see him leaving even after his recent spell in the 2s, he'll be top 2-3 ruckman in the comp in the next 5 years he's only 23yo. think how much english has exploded this year thatll be TDK next
  12. bit stiff on a second year player who has had glandular all year. he'll come good, just been really stiff, think it's hilarious when posters write off a pick 2 who debuted for 10 or so games in year one but are super optimistic about a 2nd year rookie at our club like a deak smith type making the grade whose showed far less. i was super into him when he left gold coast, saw more long term upside than BBB but we went that way for whatever reasons. i think most DL's are in agreement that a Ratugolea, McLean, Riccardi type should be top of our shopping list. surprised by the pies interest in Frampton, has shown close to stuff all in 6 years and at 2 clubs but i guess those 10 year 30 game ruckmen are important to have as insurance and he has shown a bit as a key back at times as well i think avg 7 intercepts in the SANFL this year
  13. i mean can you blame him, we were a basketcase... there wasn't a soul in footballer who wanted to be associated with us
  14. completely agree, compared to max grundy's never had an injury in his life. gawn at same age tore his hammy from the bone, hasnt seemed to hold him back too much since has it. all he has to do is win us one flag or get us to one grand final and its a success. how the narative and greed shifts after last year. When BBB walked through the door it was we'll take one flag. why should grundy be any different
  15. simply and for some reason this is going to shock a lot of DLers on this thread, because grundy is better
  16. who's to say that in 2-3 years we won't be able to grab the next meek/flynn who's stuck at a club not getting games? NM have a queue of tall boys coming through behind goldy and xerri, the cats have drafted two talls they rate highly both behind stanley blic and sav at the time being. what if it was 900 for the next two years and only 450-600 for the three years after that. suddenly it sounds far more reasonable. 700 over 5 is an average contracts can be loaded in any each way.
  17. i think when you view our rookie list for 2022 and overall list its not too surprising. Majak and likely MBrown off the list and Chandler contracted to move to the senior list already gives us 3 rookie positions to potentially fill already, AMW as a cat b isnt going to be forced off by anyone unless we have 2 international/cross code/nga prospects in the pipeline, we dont + he's shown enough so easy recontract. With McVee and DSmith we also have a wealth of defensive options ahead of them currently ahead of them including Bowey, Riv, JSmith, Hibbo, Hunt and Tommo so it wouldn't necessarily be worth us moving one of them on to recruit again at HB so soon when we have a good spread of depth, youth and talent. our OOC players are currently mostly covering two points of the ground which i think is a good thing key position -JSmith, MBrown, LJ + Majak - clearly a position of weakness we're weighing up options at. And HF/midfield link up -Melksham, Bedford, Baker, Rosman where we currently have some options but are continuing getting let down in and could quite easily strengthen in over this off season. but i get what you're saying with McVee and DSmith averaging 11d it's hard to really see whether they are going to turn the corner and really make it at afl level. but it's baby steps. If clubs average 8 list changes a season ours this year will land somewhere close to that in my view Baker, JSmith, MBrown, Maj, LJ, Melky
  18. adam simpson said in an interview about a month ago that luke strnadica stepped away from the club deciding afl wasn't for him during the season
  19. WCE cant trade their first pick coz they havent used two in a four year cycle
  20. grundy probably appears shorter than most oponent ruckmen because he's all torso and trunk and no legs, thats why his mobility and follow up work is better than most ruckmen, low centre of gravity and closer to ground
  21. Finn Emile-Brennan is an NGA prospect, theres a thread on him already. If hunt thinks about other opportunities i would certainly look at JJ and even if hunt stays i would too. bevo salad has him playing a half forward role whilst hannan?! plays at HB, JJ off a back flank is a much better distributer in my eyes and given hibbo's legs are a bit more weary JJ would add some effective burst and change of pace on a good value deal
  22. good thinking dwight!
  23. it's quite laughable that harry jones is anywhere near the discussions for bedford. they don't call it the silly season for no reason i guess!! if he goes, it'll be bedford for maybe a future third rounder and then some sort of other pick swap happening to get them more points for this year and we might shuffle picks up the board at a deficit points wise but to maximise the quality of our likely mimimal selections
  24. imo Riccardi > McLean just my opinion tho and would be equally frustrated by role/opportunity
