  1. hore was a vfl all australian this year, averaged 7.5 marks and 26 touches for the season and was comfortably their stand out player
  2. if that was the case they would've announced it at the time of delisting/left it till post trade period when they had some actual idea about their list size and where the free spaces were
  3. one name sprang into my head. M.Hore think you probably would've heard of him
  4. i think the point @DeeSpencerwas trying to point out was the ridiculousness of suggesting turner as a suitable replacement for salem given the outrageously different natures of their games. and he makes some good points about playing 4 talls. look at richmond with balta/miller tarrant/gibcus grimes and broad and vlastuin. thats a fairly large backline and it gets thr job done
  5. yep we now face the catch 22 of going down to prem c and losing all our vfl aligned blokes as the level isnt at the required standard for them to go back to if they aren't selected at vfl level which rips a huge core out of our group but at least we should be more competitive and at a level better suited to our seriously young and thin (numbers wise) squad
  6. Neale, Rayner, Lyons, Robertson, Zorko aren't wingers. They've got other fringe players that'll leave before prior does that's why im suggesting (in the tomlison thread) that we'll smooth that out for an extra few years and that'll just about do him true, you're right i dindt think of him as a KPD, he'd have to be trained up there but he was drafted and played as a forward https://vfl.aflmstats.com/player/Liam_McMahon and according to this played mostly through the guts?

    Lloyd Meek

hed waltz straight in past the beanpole reeves and maxy lynch no issues. good decision for him, a quick way into a long 8-9 year career at a side you just know will spring back up the ladder in a few years time when mitchell has everything in order
  8. which club was this WJ? can dm me if you'd rather not say. i'm familiar to this division and it's a story that quite personally reflects on me

he's a much better tap ruckman than darcy, but they committed to darcy coin wise and contract wise already, long term mistake for them i rkn, he's already struggling to carry that size of his around for an entire season and that'll only get worse as he ages. the giants surely cant go into next season with preuss/flynn/briggs AND meek tho. briggs just signed a new deal and preuss has lost currency so i'd imagine its academy boy flynn who's shown bits and has a decent amount of FWD craft who goes... we did bid on him in his draft year
  10. mclure's probably just been reading all you nuffies on DL suggest we trade every player over the age of 22 who's not in our best 22 as it currently stands, yknow its ok to have depth on our list and we can't pick everyone every week right they've already got Cordy, Keath and Gardiner and can swing Darcy or Naughton or Bruce back if they can get in Lobb to play with JUH we'll offer him an extra year or two to lock him in till he's say 31-32 and smooth his wage out to bring it down annually, i promise ya the club will see him as a required player *insert LOGUE here*
  11. 1. he hasnt been delisted yet, 2. he played in an elimination final only rhis year and with robinson leaving, he'll have first crack at that wing next season, going no where. also tomlinson isnt leaving, like he just isn't, he's staying as depth and insurance. so why on earth would we move on a player who has spent 3-4 years learning our system for an irishman with 3x less games, to fill the exact same role. it's very rare for young players who didnt play a game to get another afl chance straight away. if the pies saw even a glimmer of something in mcmahon as a 20yo 198cm prospect theyd have given him the chance to continue developing at vfl level. if they didn't, theres a reason for that... next. the only delisted players who have even slightly intrigued me so far are Callow for a train-on/rookie spot or just get him down to Casey for the year coz they'll need a Key forward and TPhillips as a train on, but only if baker goes. and similar to my argument about Tomlinson v Joyce, Baker knows the system, knows the squad and puts up similar/better vfl stats so it would be meaningless to change it unless you thought phillips was going to absolutely make a difference and given where our list is and our game style i'd argue not
  12. i hope we're all over this to be honest, although the concern is it's a bit mentally weak by him to request a trade. he was out of the side for the first half of the season due to a shoulder reco, then played some really good footy as he got his fitness back up at vfl level and was rewarded with a spot back in the side between rounds 13-18, he's got a good K/H ratio as a HB gets plenty of rebounds and has good speed. he would've been a lock for 22 games next year given their other HB injuries but has cracked the sads due to one injury riddled year. would be a handy replacement for hibbo out of the back half long term and should be a relatively cheap get at a pick in the third round probably. avg 22 a game last year 5 marks 5 R50s and has a pretty 50:50 contested/uncontested possession statline last year so he's not just a cheap racker-uperer. wonder what our interest was like in his draft year. he was a carins local so i wonder whats brought about the move other than he got grumpy he had to play a bitta twos which was fairly justified given his injury and their form at that stage. also averaged 366m gained this season and 80% DE and 78% KE as well as 3 clearances and 3 intercept possessions a game. im in... clearly
  13. they should just get rid of the week off. it heavily favours the bottom half of the 8 who come into semi/prelim finals with heaps more footy under their belt compared to sides that win qualis from the top 4. if teams wanna ross lyon the last round with 11 changes they've earnt the right to, why should the afl tell them how to pick their sides, its hardly tanking given they've not going to stop trying for a flag the next week
  14. assume today was mad monday for most, probably exit interviews tomorrow/wednesday
  15. + frmpton to the pies too should take A 3-4 year deal back home at WCE and lead their next gen midfield
  16. so many storylines, its going to be a cracking game. genuinely torn on who to go for. who bows out postgame and does it depend on the outcome? its going to be such a great week.
  17. bowes will be a required player with powell/budarick/weller all doing knees. and markov still unsigned and atkins out of favour. they rate him highly
  18. bit small to play full forward isnt he?
  19. justified imo, in a must win final theres not many players in the league youd rather in ur side. especially if he was retiring. he woulda died on the field if youd asked him too youd think. imagine how much it woulda killed him seeing them roll over like that
  20. so it seems logue out to north, hence the hold up on jwalker. keath is out of favour at the dogs, got dropped late in the season for cordy and now with darcy potentially moving back there to leave bruce/naughton/jamarra and potentially something to happen with lobb and with jones coming in he at the age of 32 having been monstered by a few bigs this year is potentially on the outer and battling for a new gig. gardiner already tied down for next season too
  21. makes it kinda baffling that they are so into dunkley as well. even with robinson and zorko at the end of their careers they still have alot of midfielders including many 3/4yrs who've barely had any exposure they're well into grif logue for this reason and he's better than tommo. ur not getting a second rounder for tommo unless its something like our second rounder for theirs and its a slide up rather than a flat pick. even lewis melican or alex keath or recently delisted hartigan probably has more trade likeliness than tommo.
  22. you mean stephen silvagni defending liam stocker to the wall isnt breaking news! im disappointed in you WJ
  23. i dont have any more trust in him than the next DLer i'm just being realistic about what the likely outcome is for tommo and the rest of his professional career
  24. i bet he's one of the first people to sign a new deal over pre-season, theyll lengthen him out by an extra year or two, giving him security into his 30s which as a footballer on the fringes he will jump at and in exchange he will flatten out his deal salary wise. its win-win. its not in his best interest to request a trade if his best interest is to win a flag, he's at the right side and he's been unlucky but luck could change. maybe we retry him as a winger over preseason you just never know
