  1. interesting re JJ, on the fringes, already has a flag and we havent got any clear upcoming vacancies in the guts, woulda thought he'd be a low priority for us and would be happy to look elsewhere for opportunity and security
  2. given freo have recruited chapman, young and traded clark in the last 3 years id say we're safe from a freo raid and wce are so far behind that rivers would be unlikely to make that move for at least 2-3 years now but for sure theres a risk there long term, especially as he's already won the flag, and could be well paid esp by wce long term. but we clearly like him and trust him hence his increased role in the early stages of this season and exposure up the field on ball
  3. it's interesting to note that at present we have no 'B' rookie spots free and both our b rooks would be eligible to be retained as b rookies for the 24 season so early prognosis is theyd be unlikely but obviously plenty to still play out and so much could change
  4. Oliver Lever Brown Brayshaw Fritsch Sparrow
  5. OUT: Pickett, Laurie, McVee, Tomlinson IN: Viney, Fritsch, Salem, May McVee gets the vest or melksham retains it. it's stiff on Tommo and McVee but theres levels to this game and they'll get more chances over the course of the season
  6. i'm still not convinced on laurie, the eye test, he is yet to pass it. will go straight out this week to make room for our 4 ins, and i wouldn't even give him the vest. given a game purely to see if it sparks something playing on this stage compared ot vfl as it does for some players but in 3 years has rarely knocked on the door. also needed to give a few debuts so we had some sub options throughout the season of which laurie may now feature heavily but long term ANB and spargo are so far in front and it concerns me a little given where he was drafted
  7. was fairly disappointed in chandlers pre season, minimal scoreboard impact and jusr doesnt have the same buzz around the ball as he should, feel that spot is definitely up for grabs however laurie did nothing to press for it either, really missing bedford early especially with pickett up around the ball now. and spargo and nibbler are very secure in their place in the side as well given the lack of pressure from below. hopefully chandler makes way for fritta sooner rather than later. also BBBs showing was poor i thought
  8. JVR, Howes, Laurie, Woey, Sestan is my prediction
  9. narkle gets mistaken as a crafty HF type when in actuality hes never managed to really turn a game there, he's actually not very flashy and much more suited to a pure on ball role as a first hands mid whos quite bullocking and has a touch of burst
  10. so glad my cousin could come onboard too! lucky i put a word in with JT and lamby for him
  11. Redman stands out if the dons continue to struggle given the age of hibbo and with rivs long term commitment still a bit of a ? would we move on dunstan and take matt crouch or mathieson instead? maybe -but unlikely could hamling offer KPD depth should tommo request a move are bailey williams (hibbo/riv/deaksmith) or toby mclean (chandler/melk) better depth than what we currently have if the price is right?
  12. Szybkowski and ruckman O'Keefe have had their trials ended at bomberland, similarly small forward Leary at Hawks, and Woodcock and one or two others at the suns. compared to other seasons where they stay all preseason clubs are coming to a decision sooner and either trialing someone else instead or not wasting resources if they don't see a spot for them
  13. @58erthis was my source ahah, AMW played as a forward last year, hes a good tackler which could give him that jetta longevity if they don't rate his goalsense longterm potentially? taj i think is more a wingman and definitely an outside type of hb not a tackling lockdown type and then dsmith and mcvee are as u say the developing defenders down the queue
  14. we need a small defender, and TB has been training down back from what i've read
  15. alright settle it wasn't that bad
  16. at least he can always look back on the day he kicked 6 on me in a schoolboys game in 2018 and smile
  17. i agree, with Hibberd, McVee, DSmith all OOC and the club not recruiting another HB type to replace Hunt on the list Burgoyne appears the better play as a more pressing need
  18. apparently brayden maynard has taken grundys 4, he would've been at pies for longer than 7 years right? 6/8 for me (granted 4 were already official so more like 2/4)
  19. its worth remembering in his two years at port they made back to back prelim finals, and had motlop and gray i50 and he came through the year after butters and rozee who at the time were also playing as small forwards along with brad ebert and boyd woodcock so it was a real position of strength for the power at the time. he barely got a look in even when he was fit
  20. not far off tho, Hagan and D'Aloia both made the U18 AA side and didnt get drafted so realistically they could not have done more!
  21. 2. matthew jefferson 6. brodie grundy 12. lachie hunter 19. josh schache 26. jed adams 28. will verrall 33. oliver sestan 43. kyah farris-white imo
  22. official press release from the swans this morning, theyve been renamed the sydney half back flankers/assorted outside running players
  23. yes, angus mclennan was a 19yo mature ager who was nga listed by the saints this year, and the dogs did a similar thing with cody raak last year after initially passing on them in their 18th year, i'm not sure if theres certain rules about whether they have to still be playing nab league as an overager or whatever in order to still qualify as i imagine a 26yo playing state league who was once nga tied cant be taken but not sure
  24. the saints may have the most Jacks on their list, but we must go close to the most unique 'J' names in one squad James (x2), Jake (x3), Josh, Judd, Jed, Joel, Jacob, Jack -and add in Jeff(erson) ;)
  25. sestan could be a really smart get, with the jury out on chandler long or short term and melksham at the end as well as harmes not really being a natural hf it could be really astute business
