  1. it's mandated that a club use 3 selections every draft. we've managed to position our two live selections as well as we probably could for the time being, so it's likely we use both picks and then chandler upgrade is our last selection
  2. So noticed this pick didnt have a thread yet so here it is. and for free you also get a collection of players i hope we are looking at in that range. i'm of the belief we will go midfielder as best available at 13 (i want hollands, and ill take his homesick brother in 2 years time too thanks) so these are the guys i'd be talking to, i dont think we will take two generic shape/sized mid types as we've recruited plenty of those recently however we have tended to target talls/smalls either through unnatural pathways (SPP/MSD) or from other clubs unless they've been high end top prospects recently so its hard to tell the clubs thoughts but heres some names anyway Isaac Keeler H: 198cm W: 88kg -- tall athletic KPF with NGA links to the crows. for me, so much more upside than say Cadman, why you ask because cadman is the biggest body playing against 18yo's only, keeler has shown flashes but has heaps of development, growth and muscle to come. they use the term x-factor when discussing him James Van Es H: 197cm W: 99kg --tall defender, strong overhead, confident to mark the footy, will be ready in 3-4 years time to take over from may and be really aggressive in the air. Lewis Hayes H: 197cm W: 81kg --tall defender, infamous for collapsing on the finish line of the 2ker at the combine but has upside and potential, could be a little passion project for the dev coaches Lachie Cowan H: 188cm W: 81kg --slingshot rebounding defender, good height but beautiful kick out of tassie, great combination of speed and using it correctly and kicking Josh Weddle H: 192cm W: 89kg --probably out of range here but players do slide, tested really well for speed and endurance, strong overhead, going to be a player as a rebounding intercepting defender Darcy Jones: H: 175cm W: 67kg --small forward, super zippy, broke the agility record of 14yrs, small forward but like spargo is a strong midfielder at junior level and would play up the gorund, maybe even as a daniels type HB Max Knobel H: 206cm W: 91kg OR Harry Barnett H: 202cm W:93kg --the two top ruck prospects, knobel has been growing and putting on weight all year, barnett won their duels during the year, project players Anthony Munkara H: 186cm W:77kg --linked to essendons nga, he could be anything as a leaping third tall, raw but has serious talent and x factor and knows his way around goals, excites me
  3. he was out of contract this year, likely to be delisted after their recent high profile draft and trade/fa recruits and we've grabbed him for a pick in the 60s even the doggies are unlikely to use. we get to choose the coin and the contract length. and im sure he woulda said yes to our first offer because it was us or the scrapheap
  4. key forwards OOC 2023 according tohttps://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/out_of_contract_players?year=2023&action=submit -McAsey, Tex -HIPWOOD -TDK -Mihocek, WKelly -HJones, 2MP -Treacy, Lobb -Sav, SNeale -Casboult, Day -Himmelberg, Riccardi -Jeka, Kosi -Comben, Edwards -Dixon, Georgiades, Lycett -JR8, BALTA -McLean, Amartey, Franklin -Jamieson, JWilliams -Bruce, SDarcy, TOB take ya pick
  5. mitch lewis, taken the pick before the rookie draft? also sidenote can anyone explain to me why bruzzie maynard was at the aflw game on the weekend? was it just cox corey/fathers involvement?
  6. its a goer from me, would be happy to see it, especially a f3, happy days. dogs probably want one of our 2 F2's tho
  7. 4 flat and an injury is just stiff [censored], wasn't a broken system so why fix it. same goes with the stand rule. if a rule isn't going to last for 5 years or be changed within 5 years, then imo we don't need it. feel like people in these roles feel like they must make changes either to A) prove they are doing something in their role or B) for their own self-admiration that they had the ability to make a rule change so they just went and did it
  8. thats right...!! i'm just turner
  9. i have the pleasure at working at the aflw and was on site for this weeks dees game. i made the mistake of locking eyes mr burke on the doggies bench at this moment. fair to say he wasn't happy. in his defense that tackle was high and shoulda been called
  10. stinks, leave it at 4, we can barely field 22 down in the amo resies, dont need to try and find an extra player every week now
  11. OR we have 5 senior, 1 A-rookie and 1 B-rookie available if we chose the 38-4-2 method instead of last years 36-6-2
  12. We owe it to Weid to let him explore his oportunities at the dons where he likely gets more looks in and schache can play the mb38 role for a year or two until the big fish lands

he's a better tap ruckman than darcy
  14. i agree with layz here, 3 year deals for all draftees is too much given the average career is 3yrs length. and quite often players are delisted after 2. less players will be drafted as there will be more clutter on each list each year, this would therefore bulge the cap and the top players would have to play for less etc etc theres too much flow on, the idea for the first round i would be ok with as usually they're given longer than 2 years in the system regardless and whilst i'm on it the end of 1st round should also be the cut off for NGA bids as well, 40 is too far out and gives no incentive to clubs to invest in it
  15. im of the view we should go smaller here and try and get our second pick into the 30 range to have a go at keeler, i rkn he has the best athletic build of the talls. cadman i feel has peaked early and benefitted from being the biggest bloke out there against other 18yo's which as we found out with weid doesnt necessarily transition to the big league. keeler has the leap and the athletic ability to get around the grounds. pair him with hollands i say and then bring elijah back to melbourne in a few years time ;)
  16. these guys are clowns sometimes, Rankine won't be a free agent as it'll only be 3 years at his club, needs to be 6 to qualify for free agency so he'll just be an ooc player then not a free agent
  17. i rkn he's 50% of the reason wce would be happy to move pick 2 to 8 & 12. busslinger probably the other 50%
  18. bedford was always one of my favourties due to taking the no12 which has always been my number thanks to col sylvia growing up as well as the romance of being a late pick from the NGA, sad to see him go but from a selfish pov can totally understand why he's done it, i hope he makes us regret underutilising him and has a lengthy career as a (slightly less than average sized) giant
  19. i'm throwing Brayden Crossley's name out there again you'd think any chance to pay afl he'd take it but also who cares if in 2yrs the eagles throw coin at him to replace NicNat he's depth and we have 2x AA's ahead of him so we'll get a handy trade for him and we'd be able to just rinse and repeat the next state league ruck or grab someone off the trade merry-go-round we'd lose him as an OOC player at the end of '23 anyway, no way he'd sign on again then so may as well let him go now if he's not in the plans while he has a little bit of value ruckman have too much scope to go wrong, when they're drafted as an 18yo they still have so much development still to go -as in 4-5 more years- yes we've had some success over the years but recently King, Flip, Bradtke not so much. it's a much better strategy to let other clubs develop them/let them develop outside the system and then nab them when they're ready to go/proven. so i actually don't have too much of an issue with our strategies in this department

some people get proper brutal and aggressive on here towards others ideas and towards professional footballers, some of whom have had successful 10+ year careers. a weid-bruce swap would be worthwhile if we think we won't be able to re-sign weid next year after anothre year of vfl predominantly and given the squeeze at WB. could easily be our number 1 key forward by the bye u just never know. offer him 2 years on 350-400 and you've got yourself a deal i say. feel the criticism is unjustified and the faith in players under 20yo and under 10 games to just walk into a top 2 side and win a flag is probably too strong. look at the way the cats operate, 2-3yrs at vfl level before players get a crack to let them size up and be properly prepared. we're not a bottom side requiring to expose talent anymore, we're premiership contenders so we need depth who can take us there and bruce is a proven game changing key forward when he's up and running
