I don't think that the Hawks would have been the only ones doing that. Having said that, Scott has always been a nasty piece of work and whilst I don't doubt the veracity of his comments, he has always had an agenda on the go.

We do have a very good team on paper but as Brian Clough said "We do have a good team on paper but the game is played on grass." For mine, we have a big hole at CHF in terms of class. TMac is a stop gap to be frank. IF Weideman can smash himself in the gym and bulk up another 10 kgs of muscle he could be a game breaker there. I'm not worried about FF. The game is trending away from the traditional goal square types and the big key forwards now loiter between CHF and FF.

IF there is to be a change it would be Melksham out and TMac in at CHF. Play Jackson on the wing as a talk link up ala Nick Riewoldt/Richo. He has the athleticism. Can also give Maxy a chop out in the ruck.

Footballers can have a run of outs like a cricketer. You go from hitting the ball in the middle of the bat to playing and missing for no apparent reason. Footballers get a run of the fumbles and no matter what they do, the ball just won't stick. Gus is a confidence player and now that the team is starting to play better I think we will see Gus lift as well. Having said that, to me he his body language tells me he just doesn't seem happy at the moment. Maybe there are some off field issues that we don't know about? We tend to forget that our heroes also suffer from the same human traits and frailties as us mere mortals. Finishing ahead of Martin, Dangerfield, Cripps Grundy and Gawn in a Brownlow shows that Gus is a super talent. If he can lift his own confidence with that of the team we can yet again become a genuine contender.

You clearly have little onfield football knowledge if you don’t understand the value of impact players. Further, a committee selects the team of which the coach has a single vote. “Coach’s favourites”? What did he do to become a favourite? Give the coach his four ‘n twenty on pie night? It’s not Lang Lang 2’s.

No. Because of the type of player that he is. A fit and firing AVB is a weapon and we don’t have many.

Bit harsh on AVB guys. Deserves a few games to find some touch after what he has endured. Adds some much needed physicality when on song. He will have more than a few oppo players looking over their shoulder.

A smart coach would come up with an idea for players to trial instead of the indiscriminate bomb. How about a 30 metre worm burner into open space if there is nothing on offer? Give the forwards half a chance instead of zero and no opposition defender would ever expect it.
