Key forwards - let's go shopping!
fun to think about but no in a million years would this happen. no-one is ever this active. Petracca isnt going anywhere. Either is weideman. we just signed him up. and brad hill is worth more than pick 17. serong isnt what we need. he isnt super quick and just yet another inside mid like tom sparrow, albeit better skills. Langdon I do think we desperately need. I agree on Jetta, I think his lack of speed is not going to prolong his career.

Will Gould (Drafted by Sydney)
everyone saying 'oh, we don't need this type etc.' frustrates me. Okay, let's ignore picking up a shannon hurn for Nick Hind because we need outside speed?! crazy talk. take best available. - Serong doesn't impress me. Strongly built inside mid, good skills, short, avg pace but low ceiling. Jason Taylor will like him because he is hard. - Hayden Young. He'd be my pick. Quick, breaks the lines, accurate kick, brave in the air. - Lachie Ash: Offers the most run of anyone in the top 10 but his decision making isn't great and his skills are questionable. Definitely a Sam Frost type so will be a polarising player wherever he goes.

Kobe Farmer
he ain't coming. delete thread

Simon Goodwin on SEN (26/6/19)
meh, i don't really care what he has to say. An average coach would've got us playing finals level football and yet we are a bottom 4 side this year. Would love an explanation regarding structure/defensive breakdowns as well as why Fristch is being persisted with down back when we've lost about 5 games this year due to inaccurate kicking. Frustrating

Oscar McDonald
I've seen nothing that suggests he is up to AFL standard. is a deer in the headlights and gives silly free kicks away in front of goals

POSTGAME: Rd 14 vs Fremantle
So there's 3 minutes to go in the last quarter and Gawn marks it out in the open. He decides to play on and gets caught for holding the ball. Freo gather it and gives themselves a big chance to get right back into the game. Sure, Gawn had a good second half but it's these sort of decisions that cost games. Even social players have better IQ than that. There was only one player that decided to slow it down at the right time and that was Petracca and I honestly think it was due to his basketball background. As basketball players are brought up understanding shot clock/game clock management and strategy. It's just frustrating that footy players seem so simple in the mind.

ANB Close to Re-Signing?
I hope he gets played as a mid soon instead of this half forward nonsense.

Brad Hill
I hate hypetheticals but yes I'd take him but no a 2nd rounder wouldn't be enough from freo's point of view

Jason Taylor Resume
lol, you're looking at it like an absolute simpleton. You can't look at the win/loss record to make a judgment call on Jason Taylor. According to you, Jason Taylor was amazing because he got us to a prelim last year? Last year, we were applauded for our amazing depth across all areas (except for maybe key defence). So Jason Taylor went from really good to really bad in 6 months? lol Personally, the issue is Goodwin and the coaches in general for not addressing goal kicking woes in the off-season. I also think Fritsch needed to be played forward. Petracca also needed to be played away from forward 50m until he sorts his kicking out. I mentioned Petraccas poor kicking when everyone was frothing at the mouth about him and got shut down for it. Quite frankly, I'm sick of being a year ahead of most people on this board. Viney needed to lose 5kg in the off-season to help with speed and that zone defence rubbish to be abolished. Also, playing Joel Smith against Brisbane after he injured his groin certainly didn't help. Has been out for the year since then. I also wouldn't have caved in to Peter Bell and I would've played harder ball with Gold Coast for May. We could've had Rozee with our top 5 pick. So all of these things create many reasons why I would be a far better coach than Goodwin

Because you're questioning taylors decision making right? So how can you question his decision making if you aren't sure what decisions he was choosing between? you dont have all the data. You can only make the best decision at the time. let's look at Tom boyd. clearly the best player in his draft. was genuine key position size, had proven form again men and dominated playing for eastern ranges. every club would've taken him at 1.

i would also trade viney before angus brayshaw. mostly because Viney is slower. And we are so bloody slow. but Goodwin also needs to work on his game plan. We look slow because our system is [censored] and we're always chasing on the rebound. And Angus Brayshaw is worth much more than pick 13 in that article. crazy talk.

The thing is, people are happy to slam the drafting of certain players but never analyse things deeper. So many simpletons here. For example, let's look at Hrovat vs Viney. Same height, both inside bulls, both had similar numbers as juniors, Hrovat the better kick. But people look back and go Hrovat didn't make it as a player but Viney became a captain but both had very similar junior careers. People are experts in hindsight but can't actually pinpoint WHY a player didn't succeed over another player. How many people here actually watched Salem at under 18 games on a regular basis? How many watched Kelly? How many tracked their draft camp results/their psych interviews? The level of analysis is quite embarrassing really.

lovely in hindsight mate. Charlie curnow had an underwhelming junior year with added question marks over his character as well as size to play key position. very easy to sit there later and decide that we shouldve taken curnow.

I'm sorry but you dont fluke 53 goals. the whole team is just devoid of confidence and that all falls on goodwin

First Chaplin, now this....

I was a bit disappointed we got sparrow. he is exactly what we dont need. An inside mid with poor foot skills and average pace.

for the first time in a long time Taylor will have to pick up a player with leg speed. he usually likes the inside bulls but that's the opposite of what we need right now. lachlan ash I reckon

Time to go Oscar!
it doesnt matter that lever and may have been out injured, oscar McDonald should be playing vfl at best. I'd prefer to play literally a player down then have oscar. he does everything bad as a key defender. gives needless free kicks away. slow physically and slow mentally. I think anyone who supported him on demonland needs to have a good look in the mirror and ask themselves if they really understand footy. May and lever will make us an 6 goal better team. not because of their inclusions, but because of oscars exclusion.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Adelaide
the club has never has goal kicking accuracy as a priority. How do I know this? a) we have been terrible for some time. b) petracca is played forward c) Fritsch is played in defence. d) gawn rests forward. There is NO POINT playing ANYONE in the forward line unless they are good kicks for goal. it's pretty simple. oscar McDonald is an easy target. we all know he is a vfl reserves level defender. everyone except the coaching staff.

joel smith being delisted or traded?? you guys have rocks in your head! For a team that lacks any sort of athleticism across the park he is one that has it in spades and also showed to be a pretty accurate shot for goal, something none of our team can do. he is not only starting 22, but starting 18 and was proving that all pre-season. crazy!
