  1. You can still bump despite not running into it. He had literally 1 step into the bump. maybe even half a step. it wasnt malicious but he chose to bump and got him high. this was an easy one for the mrp. Put yourself in Berry's position. He is running along gives the handball off and gets hit high. Yes he didnt have awareness but the moment May turned sideways and leant into him it was far more than a brace and the onus shifted to May to not get Berry high. If you think it was a brace then we'll probably never agree.
  2. You call it a brace. it's a bump. May knows that berry is running straight at him. once the ball is hand passed May moves to his left and leans back to his right to hit berry. What do you call the difference between leaning forward to brace and a bump? it's the same thing. no-one is arguing it wasnt a bump except for you and some demons fans.
  3. Binman is spot on. May clearly initiated contact and bumped berry. It amuses me that people think he had no other option but to brace. He literally side stepped left and went back into berry to lay the bump. I'll put everyone elses view down to the fact that they are just biased supporters that can't see the forest for the trees. I can understand arguing medium impact down to light impact but arguing that May was simply standing his ground is laughable. And the tribunal agreed with Binman and I.
  4. you say brace, I say it's a bump. he got him high. We're talking about Steven May here. He knew he was going to bump him as soon as the handball had left Berry's hand.
  5. I'm sorry but we're just going to have to disagree. No-one is saying the hit was big but it doesn't have to be if the person isn't expecting contact. There may be a small element of May protecting himself but he did so by leaning forward and bumping. The only thing wrong with it is he got him high. You're not serious if you think that a player is going to get hit the way Berry did with May standing stationary? Lol. Berry is a tough nut footballer who definitely didn't act up. He gathered himself, pushed away the trainers and wanted to keep going so whoever insinuated that Berry couldn't take a hit is just deluded.
  6. everyone knows the brownlow isnt a true representation of player ranking so not sure why you're using it to fit an argument. As good as brayshaw is he didnt even finish top 3 in our Bnf.
  7. lol fancy the coach expecting his player to get off. May knew he was bumping. Gee, we weren't born yesterday!
  8. he opted to bump and got him high. yes it wasnt a big shirt front but May knew exactly what he was doing. he just didnt mean to get him high
  9. you cant be serious. may clearly stepped into him to bump him. and he got him high. you could argue low contact but he flushed him pretty damn well
  10. what has games played got to do with anything? Hell hasnt Watts played 150? And coming runners up in gold coast's bnf isn't anything to write home about.
  11. To be honest, I'm not sure why people are surprised. He offered to bump and got him high. People who are saying who didn't get him in the head need to re-read the rule book before posting. high is anything above the shoulders. So the throat is high. And you cant argue that he was just standing still and was run into. he leant into him. Leaving the ground etc. is irrelevant. he offered to bump and got him high.
  12. KK doesnt go hard at the pill.
  13. anb is a tackler and cracks in hard. I like him in the team. he is a good combination of speed and endurance. I dont care if he doesnt get 20 touches a game. like vandenberg, he is there to harass. plus anb hits the scoreboard too so I don't get the anb hate. ever since watts, I just wanted guys that would crack in and anb does that. if we want to talk about skill execution let's look at omac and jordan lewis
  14. it's always rated him. even in defence I'd have him well ahead of oscar mcdonld and hore but in the forward line his straight kicking has been a great surprise.
  15. well yeah I agree in that they aren't working well together. I think weideman or McDonald need to roam higher up the ground so we don't have 3 talls clashing. I'm a massive joel Smith fan though and am confident that he isnt going anywhere. they'll find a spot for him for all 22 games.
  16. People need to stop hitting the panic button. Melbourne lost to the hawks by 70 in an official home and away match last season and our season turned out well. So a bit of perspective is needed. We beat a pretty strongly fielded Collingwood team in the praccy, then lost to probably the best team in the afl with half of our team out and yday we lost by a goal despite not playing too well. Joel Smith has shown great form. And the best part is that he is kicking straight. Must stay forward. Melksham, Viney, Jones are big losses and Hannans injury cant be understated. Hannan is a great player.
  17. a lot of afl plsyers dont wear mouth guards actually. I think it's crazy but apparently a lot of players struggle to breath properly with them in.
  18. Lol. A shame Ben Matthews told you bluntly. Strange! Aren't you allowed to stand wherever you want in a public space. It's not a closed session right?
  19. Agreed, we don't really need inside mids. We need speed, outside run and a small forward that actually has nous. We've seemed to be targeting a decent small forward for years ever since we picked up Addam Maric those years ago.
  20. terrible news regarding lever. 3-4 months away which will no doubt be after the bye. hannan is also a big loss. a massive loss.
  21. What else would he say, that he doesn't want him to have the ball? James Strauss was probably the best kick in our team too. (not comparing Salem to strauss) So it's grand final day and someone says to you, you can either have Salem or Gawn/Oliver/Brayshaw and you'd make a case for Gawn or Oliver to watch from the grandstands over Salem? C'mon, you're getting caught up in the new signing. Salem is a very good player but not a great player in the likes of Gawn, Oliver and Brayshaw. i'm glad some of you guys aren't selecting the team.
  22. Well he is less important. I'd prefer Salem out of the side before the names you said. Let's be honest, he isn't of the same importance as our AA ruckman and midfielder or Gus
  23. I'm probably the most negative poster on demonland and even I walked away positive from that match. We had so many guns out. - I think petracca looks more explosive than last year and stronger and he laid some good tackles today. People just need to keep their expectations in check, it was him or McCartin. - ANB is copping unfair criticism. He is a midfielder, not a half forward. He is doing his best in a position that isnt his natural position. And I sleep a lot easier at night knowing theres a guy in our 22 that is going to run all day. - I was impressed by Kielty and Petty. Petty just need a year in the gym. Jordon didn't really impress me. Looked slow and timid but he's a baby so let's look at him in 3 years. Sparrow isnt a great kick but he doesnt really need to be. By the time he cracks best 22 he will be a permanent inside mid. - McDonald did look slow. Got punished by Rance. As long as he isnt injured I dont care. -i thought Hore was sloppy by foot but at least was willing to have a crack. - Preuss was a kangaroos discard. what were people expecting. He is good insurance if Gawn goes down. He will play majority forward anyway and that means the oppo will need a key defender on him - oliver and brayshaw guns: going straight into my fantasy team.
  24. I liked the look of draftees that have good penetrating foot skills. Does Jordon seem passive? Has he bulked up much? Just trying to forecast what sort of player he may become.
  25. I'm glad Binman isn't coach, he would've called training off coz it was too hot. Some of you guys were so precious in the JLT thread saying the richmond game should be rescheduled etc. Ridiculous! You asked for proof and whilst its not 40 (just a few degrees off) not only was training not earlier (in fact later) they weren't even doing a light session.
