Being Relevant Again - What Success Looks Like
Engorged Onion replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Relevance = meaningless pieces that are churned out... here is something from the herald sun - so THIS is what relevance looks like Kate1 hour ago GAWN BURSTS MCDONALD'S BUBBLE By Gilbert Gardiner TOM McDonald for making hay while the sun shines? A revelation since going forward, McDonald has booted 14 goals in the past five games. But All-Australian ruckman Max Gawn, set to play his third game abck from a serious hamstring injury, has given the newly-minted swingman a clip. "I'll tell you where he is, he's up int he clouds to be honest," Gawn told RSN 927. Gawn revealed the reliable defender's garage and wardrobe have enjoyed drastic makeovers since he has become a goalkicker. "So he drives a Mercedes which is good, he does that the whole time, but he's upgraded... to another level with his car," Gawn said. "He's well known as the worst dresser at the club and he's actually looking good at the moment." -
it's farcical to think they'd put in more energy and effort in his final game when they've had a further 22 previous games to show the care/give a damn about Bucks etc etc...

smug bump

Mmmm, but that wouldn't suit the narrative that Bolton is a genius coach. Sometimes its not what you know, it's who you blow...

The Curnow v Weideman Debate Reprised

Pedigree and psychological factors Did you also fret over NicNat vs Watts? -
Just remembering now...the AFL take action against a young girl who abuses Adam Goodes. They take action against a Port supporter who abuses Eddie Betts. But in this instance, Clearance, is counselled and told to apologise after being abused. From a regulatory position, there seems to be a whole lot of inconsistency, so I guess if the fish rots from the head, no wonder the MRP etc etc etc etc

Oh that is sublime for Gerard

Does Clayton feel left out to dry? Doubt it Do they need to publicly decry touching Clarrie - nope. Only occupiers of Melbourne based forums get caught up in this... This is a different MFC that does not get caught up in nor comment on extraneous vapid crap, rather than give it air and take away from the task of what they are ultimately aiming for. Thank god for that.

It's interesting reading the disappointment on here at times at the consistency throughout a game - we forget, or at least dismiss the fact that a) numerous injuries, b) 3-4 players in have had significant lay offs, c)players such as hannan, trac etc rolled through the middle and at least nullified if not won significant contests. An ugly, disappointing at moments win shows so much grit - there has been so much learning through adversity this year that it will only serve ALL the players well for 2018 and beyond. I'm looking forward to 'hopefully' being a sustained finals contender for years to come....god knows I'm thirsty for it. edit " Selecting Smith and Hogan was our own decision, we didn't have to. I'd prefer to go in with a full team minus a few stars than to lose two players before half time.' @Clint Bizkit I vehemently disagree with this - and I understand where you are coming from to say this. Personally, nothing develops match fitness like playing matches... I'd be happy to wear a couple of poor ones for Gawn, Smith and Hogan as they reestablish their mojo. and lets not talk about 'confidence players' - much like Goodwin's presser and culture - its misunderstood by the wider world....

Common sense is hardly common...so I presume when you look in the mirror in the morning after your shower, you give yourself a few slaps, a steely look and tell yourself to harden up because its common sense. So I guess the last decade of Jack's life in the AFL fishbowl have been straight forward and a breeze?? That's how I'm taking what your saying, and for those that don't experience it in 'your' way - show a lack of common sense? Thus I infer that all those that are open enough to talk about their difficulties (and I include Tomic in this) don't have common sense, because the lived experience of an athlete does include anxiety and joy and happiness and frustration and symptoms of depression but they should have their [censored] sorted and NOT get caught up in normal appropriate human experiences? Because it common sense right?

Irrespective of the story (its always muck racking or fluff pieces) - how nice is it to have relevance. As far as I am concerned that is all that matters...
