  1. on the AFL website now... http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-11/speedy-dee-bridging-the-gap-on-his-good-mate
  2. Nice post - I don't see it this way - and I guess I am trying to convince you to see it differently - or have a slightly different perspective... not that I expect you to The AFL is a commercial entity and will always protect 'the brand' (i say with a massive drawwwllll and eyes glazed over) Because of this and because Essendon give great $$ injections (hah! subtle) lobbied for and gifted 10 prime time FTA games, lobbied for and gifted umpteen home games at the G vs big Vic clubs to further fill their $ coffers. Points 7 and 8 - That is the AFL - not Essendon Point 1 - I would argue that the media get to write a new narrative about being heroes or not (and it depends which media you read...) and naturally individuals within Essendon will promote that... Point 2 - Again its the AFL - there is no way commercially that a team was not going to be fielded. Point 3 - Again the AFL sign off on this Point 4 - Essendon would happy push this agenda and again the AFL agreed to this, or failed to put in caveats based on the circumstance of 'how they were to finish last'. Point 5 - not sure what this means - do we have nauseating pre game events - The Big Freeze? Breast Cancer Awareness - Essendon are allowed to capitalise from a marketing perspective on what ever they want to develop - this is totally seperate from what occured Point 6 - I dunno, I read The Guardian a bit, erm, Chip Le Grand wasn't silenced - nor Caroline... Personally Im angry at the AFL as complicit as they were, but if anything, I am just apathetic because it was never going to turn out any other way.
  3. Nev will cover 'em all! No sweat.
  4. Fair 'nuff SWYL... For me its - I shall never forget what individuals working for Essendon have done. They are yet to pay...
  5. Re: Essendon as one individual entity, vs 'Essendon' with culturally corrupt personnel - at what stage do people draw a line of demarcation and move on? We don't slag Melbourne as a club per sè when we were shite - we are marginally more sophisticated and nuanced and we hang Cuddles, Neeld, Schwab, Lyon et al. instead. It aint the club - it's the individuals.
  6. You posted it, I was making a distinction between someone (you) alluding to the 'messing with the heads' vs - common language that, this sort of stuff actually does mess with peoples heads (plenty of people say it/infer it). That's why I said... not about you.
  7. The only thing I love about these nights (prefer port to lose than Essendon) - is that it really shows up team deficiencies that can be exploited. I am seriously looking forward to the next half of the season and when Hogan and Gawn come in, and Smith et al develop and knock on the door...we can match any team..except Cyborg GWS
  8. Good on Cale, been slaughtered in the press recently... was hoping he'd become a Dee... nice that he is hitting some form...shame about the bun.
  9. We've been in all games - lost due to injury(ies), 20 minutes lapses, and never ever been out of the game from the 3rd quarter. Ideally, we wouldn't have lost to Geelong, Richmond, Freo, Hawthorn and even North (all winnable games). We could be 10 and zip actually. I genuinely see us a smokies heading into the finals. And if it aint 2017 - gee the next few years look like a flaming log fire on a cold winters night.
  10. Commentarys not directed towards the 35+'s mate - its all about the young uns
  11. Not about you at all P-Man - can someone give a rational explanation in how it will mess with their heads? They'll have worked through a multitude of options based on a multitude of scenarios....so all strategies would be sorted. The Collingwood FD would not be batting eyelids at all.
  12. So many reasons not to pick up Tippett, Reid and Rohan...
  13. There is always the World Cup Qualifier... I hear some league is on...but meh
  14. @danielE288 an eclectic 'favourite player mix' from a few era's... are you Ben Hollands mum by any chance?
  15. Erm, Melbourne v Collingwood at the MCG MELBOURNE In: J.Spencer, J.Kennedy-Harris, C.Salem Out: - Thought Spencil was not going to be in - and glad that JKH gets another run (hasn't shown anything at AFL level, but I seem to have a spot for him in the cockle of my heart)...
  16. Not necessarily, Again, the ownership is on Fasolo to recognise his mental health and what he can manage - remember this is what he does for a living - the onset, the precipitating factors may have nought to do with football...and the recommendation from his psych - would be to engage in activities that facilitate a sense of purpose - return to work programs always advocate for this. And guilt if processed correctly is a great motivator and would NOT worsen the condition. I work in this space for a living... so I think its important to gain accurate information - even on a forum such as this.
  17. Not even slightly trying to be patronising. Pretty certain FD's are sophisticated places and have multiple plans in place before the game...dependent on a multitude of contexts.
  18. Again, Im sure the FD know wha they're doing - Grundy will dominate vs the 3 backsups... I guess if they're holding firm on philosophy of not bringing in folk who are under done then it makes sense.
  19. It's just noise mate - hopefully it brings a few more folk through the gate four our coffers...
  20. Journalists - trash or otherwise are humans too - he's got a redundancy and that may or may not be great for him...it certainly can suck for to get a redundancy if you're in Hazelwood, or Ford or, Alcoa etc etc - just think some of these posts are in poor taste - but perhaps I am just a snowflake... I guess it is a forum though, ...entitled to their opinions and all the jazz.
  21. As a reluctant armchair expert - and thinker of all things implicit - as much as I hope Hogan plays and we revert back to 'ducks and drakes' with team selection - I don't recall Goodwin ever bullshiting anyone.... he has the straightest bat I have seen in a long time. Thus, Hogan not to play
