  1. @hemingway - My personal stance on the need to redesign AFL for the youth market is one of cynicism - but the sport isn't just for me and my generation. But the marketing arm of the AFL - operate in that space and use that language - it is a product, thus, how do we maximise consumption? Let's jazz hand it up a bit Language evolves, from my vantage point - it in itself is not the problem. The 'problem' is age old and about a simple schism in generational thinking...yeah yeah I know you know this @hemingway - you're a savvy cat. - ie: in the 50's - parents viewed Bill Haley as Ozzy Osbourne of the 70's and Marilyn Manson of the 90's Things evolve - people are either open to it or not - it doesnt make the change either right or wrong...let's get buddhist on it.... it is what it is.
  2. correct - innovation is about iteration's ..and yes sometimes youfuckup
  3. I'd argue they're not out of touch @Demon Dude They're innovating the product. Now then... I am nudging 40 - and I don't relate to all things they're bringing that surrounds the game - but they're trying to bring versions of the game to a younger market - AND don't forget that average age of players is around 23... they've all being brought up on devices, and are tech savvy... I'd argue that although you and I don't necessarily 'connect' with it - they have an understanding that the broader section of society that will follow the game in 10 years, 20 years will want shorter versions of the game with more 'insights/statistics' and grounded more with technology...let alone those who play the game themselves.
  4. I'm a simple man @Deemania since 56- I got the last bit 'the flag is our'...and can you rejig what you were saying for me
  5. uncanny - i'd be thinking 100% of people who care for football would be doing this also.
  6. and 500 of those were ANB ?
  7. I say - good on Garry for using his media position to raise awareness to just how good Clarry actually is... There is no doubt that the media darlings get the votes (except for Trac). On a side note - Remember when Wowoedin went platinum blonde in 2000 so he stood out?? Also how good was Wowoedin''s 17 bounces from the half back line... if anyone's got some vision of it - better than McGuane methinks... Just found it at the 25sec mark
  8. My standpoint is this ... TMAC doesn't need to press for a round 1 slot - he will have it. TMAC is pragmatic as [censored] TMAC understands JLT is meaningless TMAC don't give a damn about Rance and having to prove himself....
  9. It's a fair comment @Deestar9 - he has been given a long contract to show his wares - so he wont be the finished article this year... Part of me rolls my eyes at his lumbering cumbersome movement - part of me is thrilled with his bohemoth throwing of bodies... but as long as he can clunk a few marks, jag some goals and give Max a good rest when required...
  10. presuming you are in elwood @Elwood 3184 - of course it could be a blues brother reference... what if you're in barnawartha though??
  11. As long as he can take instruction...
  12. remind me of this from a few years back ? https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/melbourne/melbourne-players-to-adopt-radical-paleo-diet-in-2015-afl-season/news-story/d5e09ca5b8c61ae967c6b834b09053b1
  13. Was Kevin Dyson an ordinary player? please discuss
  14. @Redbeard- congrats on the nuptials - i guess it;s the legacy of being [censored] for a decade....
  15. I prefer the updated version of obviously, which is 'essentially'.
  16. god i love the astounding memory of some folk on this forum...blows my mind.
  17. Enact THIS, AFL... more of this please
  18. perhaps you could have just pm'd him this?
  19. His opinion is meaningless - however I am curious to what his beef is re: Melbourne? .... or what credentials he fails to see...?
  20. Hee hee - Chris Heffernan - curious about your logic on him please.
  21. Just stumbled across an article on a WNBL player - Seekamp - got me thinking of Marcus - whom for some reason I really liked as a young supporter. Where. Is. He. Now? Frosty's style of play reminds me of him, a bit quick, a bit uncoordinated and tall.
  22. Curious....Do Demonlanders have an understanding at Goodwin and Co's view on AFLX? Do they see it as an important part of preseason? Do they see it adding value or not to what the club wants to achieve with its players? Do i expect to see media reports that we've got an alarmingly high injury list for the sole purpose of avoiding putting players into the AFLX competition? @Satyriconhome you must have a vibe or solid intel on this, with your closeness to the group.
  23. Zing ?
  24. nice work @Satyriconhome - aways appreciate the effort of getting down there and taking some shots for those elsewhere...
