  1. The same could be argued for any other club, looking at any other team including Melbourne... it's a redundant argument... For mine - these are players that are currently listed (and not) that we have nurtured and are/could be on the list (not necessarily the best 22) that Melbourne have developed.... OMAC TMAC GAWN HOWE KENT HARMES HUNT JETTA ANB J SMITH HANANN
  2. mmm, sadly i have felt that to be accurate for the last 20 years... sometimes more pronounced than others @Clintosaurus
  3. what other dark arts do they coach @Tony Tea? As @Macca has said on another thread.. "You go in for the smother with your fingers in an almost fist like position ... at the appropriate moment, flick your fingers back" as a way to con a touched ball
  4. I've been trying for 5 minutes... I assume you must be double-jointed/hypermobile.
  5. To provide context, The blokes been injured, is that fair and reasonable? The FD clearly rate his flexibility and a prepared to back him for a run of games, rather than drop after 2.
  6. “666, kick ins - and all that jazz will def increase scoring in 2019” said some AFL suit in Nov 2018.
  7. Inside knowledge? Also, is Lewis in purely for his last dance with Hodge? Wouldn't have though the FD were so generous...
  8. Free slab of beer to the first person to suggest the need to play #hardball in the chase to get Langdon - referencing Bell/Hogan etc. send me your address and I’ll drop it off... postscript: that’ll be you then @TheoX
  9. fair play matty - you could just pm him - rather than derail the OMAC thread... but you don't seem to be the type.
  10. Not so much about your statement Matty, and I dislike the bolded bits as statements - as always - post hoc analysis is easy. Just like commentators with a switch kick in the back 50 that 'just comes off' - it was brave... of course if it was tipped away or intercepted by the forward - it would also then be dumb, stupid, risky. I'd argue the recent pick ups of Watts, Motlop and the trade of Wingard (who didnt want to be there)... are all things that don't confirm your statement. Yet Goodwin could also be argued to be brave, creative, forward thinking - when of course, he is not being weak, stagnant, retrograde, and/or just a crap coach...is just that these things come off sometimes, and others they don't
  11. Can we move the 'forensic analysis' of personal philosophies of online forum etiquette to another thread please?
  12. headbutted lockhart.... but yes your premise seemingly is correct
  13. What's with this story the keeps getting perpetuated that he has a small kicking limit?? I don't get that people cannot see that this is not true. I can think of at least 3 goals he has kicked - and his last one against Collingwood was at least 40-45m out and went through above head hight... check out this clip here for evidence (1.05 mark) I'd almost argue he has a larger kicking range than Hogan.
  14. He was my favourite player as an 7-10 year old... then Allen of course... Great great get - I am so excited.
  15. not allowed to have "flare ups" in this industry...
  16. I'm not sure you understood my gist... good banter in this thread though Matty, keep it up.
  17. Oh come on Matty, you’re a learned man, a scholar if you will. Are you aware of the term ‘institutionalised privilege’? That’s why ‘white people’ is a moot point. Or in another way... “I wish I was another race, gender, minority group” - said no western white man ever...
  18. Ahh, the ol 'kick up the backside' sentiment - that'll work!!
  19. Goodwin is big on psychology, be it how the individual prepares and how the coach's interact with the players, all part of a psychological curriculum. Psych is D.Williams... but as always, the player themselves may not buy into the soft skills, of attentional shifting etc etc
  20. Do you think Taranto > Kelly??? Or just salivating?
  21. Nah, he's actually not - 'old mate' just wants accountability.
  22. you would think so eh.... but then even THAT is accepting mediocrity, and you know I've been waiting for a flag since my birth, and it's been since 1964 and we should have got it right at least once, and I'm also worried about never winning a flag in my lifetime, and it's the norm smith curse and we're a weak club with no culture and why the eff did we recruit toumpas? and mark neeld and none of our coaches seem to have a plan b, when we lose (but seem to have a great plan when we win)
  23. I look forward to this commentary happening every time Curnow jags a few goals. I also look forward to this commentary dissipating as it did with the NicNat vs Watts debate.
  24. There are two types of people in this world @Matsuo Basho those that can infer things from incomplete data and... Well considering the last 3 premierships have come from your positions of 6, 7 and 9, I'd suggest, you either don't want to have too much IQ or too little IQ as judged by some bloke... therefore the inference that it is relevant to obtaining a premiership is that it a) is, b) is not c) choose your own adventure.
  25. I played for North Portland U/14's and couldn't even hit up a 20m target - but did win the best clubman award ... does my opinion count???
