  1. Not that my personal opinion counts for anything... I have conceded that when Lever, May and Jetta are fit (and even if Jetta is not fit)...he has a short AFL career ahead of him.... ? But hey, we are a team that has recruited a whole heap of $hhit brothers... Cockatoo Collins (s) Ottens Holland Gaspar etc etc erm longevity - the great A.Jakovich
  2. If I could say one thing that pervades this website (and it's not about you @dees189227) is we fit what the football club does to suit what ever happens, even though these things have minimal impact really. And of course, typically to the negative.
  3. nah, he's a $hhit gameday coach...
  4. I think our differing points of view are a bridge to far... and I'll leave you with this thought All are better coaches than Goodwin, because they now have silverware... so its a post hoc evaluation. Early in their career as coaches, they also were not viewed as 'good' or 'able to 'build' a team...nor had won silverware. This is exactly where Goodwin sits right now. Whilst it's a results driven business, and he media push a narrative that a win each week is the only thing that matters, what the underpinning evidence is, is that stability at a board level and at a head coach level, matters for success. Because of this, I would hope Goodwin stays on for his contract.
  5. Huh, how the hell are they unprofessional? Success is never linear....and we have been decimated by injuries.
  6. Nor is there also evidence that he has failed. This has happened plenty of times before at plenty of other clubs, within the last decade and a bit Thompson at Geelong Clarkson at Hawthorn Hardwick at Richmond Simpson at WCE Roos at Sydney Aside from Beveridge, who had a lucky tin ar$e month - all premiers (and those who are there abouts 'Buckley')...have slumped before reaching the pinnacle. Success is never linear, just because you want it now, doesn't mean its a failure...and to use a cliche - it's a process.
  7. please explain how one's need to demand things as a supporter influences this change?
  8. you do, as you're posting about it
  9. very few things to bask in the glory of currently @Ethan Tremblay - we all love a bit of schadenfreude from time to time.
  10. @Ron Burgundy, is that irony by definition, or Alanis Morrisettes version of irony?
  11. I find these suggestions laughable, because what is the alternate...they've only got the playing list that they have... the would neither over rate or under rate them, and even if they do, it's all a moot point - as the results will be what the results will be. Any team who has had an injury list to the top tier of their best 22 players will suffer dramatically - see the Tiges as a point in case at the moment also, and we have had it to my last count a significant amount of players that significantly influence structure...May, Viney, TMAC, Petracca, Hannan, Oliver, Kolarjazzknee ;), Jetta, AVB, Joel Smith and i wont include him (but I will) Lever... that's half of the 22 that are underdone... So on that, I'd argue that no club can 'cover' that depth, and that there was no hope or suspicion that they could get away with it... that they can only make do with what they have and the results are a direct result (not an excuse) of the preseason injuries/rehab.
  12. The conversations on here blow my mind sometimes, as they're always versions about where someone got picked - and everyone elses expectations of how they should be playing due to where they got picked. As though those outside the club and the rest of AFL world, know what level 'said player' 'should' be at - based purely on where their own personal expectations of what progression or potential looks like... its a bit of laugh really...
  13. Only if you want it to fit a particular narrative @DV8
  14. maybe it's all scripted (just like the truman show) - tanking is in the headlines again, we are paying our penance in 2019 and will be a story of redemption in 2020...
  15. Like Trac in this picture from his WetnWild Trip?
  16. Bump https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/season-may-be-over-for-saints-key-forward-20190430-p51igc.html For mine, Petracca is and always will be a burst player... there are far too many expectations on him to jag 25+ posessions each week and jag 2/3 goals. Imagine the meltdown on here if we got McCartin! There are busts, and then there are guys that go pretty well most of the time who aren't Jordan DeGoey.
  17. Hi Lad's and Ladies - I'm keen to organise a regular monthly catch up to gripe (and on the odd occasion celebrate) about all things Melbourne down this neck of the woods. I can't say I know too many Melbourne supporters - but if anyone is keen for a meal and a drink on a regular basis and have a version of 'therapy' - let me know. The only thing would be that the veil of anonymity would be gone...which perhaps isn't a bad thing.. Pm if yer interested.

  18. and? Be aware of conflation.
  19. Love the endeavour... ...though it's not really a curse though, is it.
  20. Fair suck of the savaloy @WERRIDEE, it's repeated ad nauseam - drafting is ALWAYS a lottery, some come on better, and some come on worse than expected. Although, in the interest of fairness, perhaps you can start a topic on your best 22 that we 'should' have had, instead of our current best 22? That'll keep us all occupied until 2019 season is over...
  21. I hope you insert a reference to drafting from Casey in every single post, just to reinforce your own inanity...
  22. Just like you need to control your penchance for CAPSLOCKING ?
  23. Is wattsy playing?
