Ken Hinkley - coach of the year?
Not so much about your statement Matty, and I dislike the bolded bits as statements - as always - post hoc analysis is easy. Just like commentators with a switch kick in the back 50 that 'just comes off' - it was brave... of course if it was tipped away or intercepted by the forward - it would also then be dumb, stupid, risky. I'd argue the recent pick ups of Watts, Motlop and the trade of Wingard (who didnt want to be there)... are all things that don't confirm your statement. Yet Goodwin could also be argued to be brave, creative, forward thinking - when of course, he is not being weak, stagnant, retrograde, and/or just a crap coach...is just that these things come off sometimes, and others they don't

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
What's with this story the keeps getting perpetuated that he has a small kicking limit?? I don't get that people cannot see that this is not true. I can think of at least 3 goals he has kicked - and his last one against Collingwood was at least 40-45m out and went through above head hight... check out this clip here for evidence (1.05 mark) I'd almost argue he has a larger kicking range than Hogan.

I'm not sure you understood my gist... good banter in this thread though Matty, keep it up.

AFL and 18 Clubs apologise to Adam Goodes
Oh come on Matty, you’re a learned man, a scholar if you will. Are you aware of the term ‘institutionalised privilege’? That’s why ‘white people’ is a moot point. Or in another way... “I wish I was another race, gender, minority group” - said no western white man ever...

Ahh, the ol 'kick up the backside' sentiment - that'll work!!

Training - Monday, 17th June 2019
Goodwin is big on psychology, be it how the individual prepares and how the coach's interact with the players, all part of a psychological curriculum. Psych is D.Williams... but as always, the player themselves may not buy into the soft skills, of attentional shifting etc etc

Do you think Taranto > Kelly??? Or just salivating?

Nah, he's actually not - 'old mate' just wants accountability.

you would think so eh.... but then even THAT is accepting mediocrity, and you know I've been waiting for a flag since my birth, and it's been since 1964 and we should have got it right at least once, and I'm also worried about never winning a flag in my lifetime, and it's the norm smith curse and we're a weak club with no culture and why the eff did we recruit toumpas? and mark neeld and none of our coaches seem to have a plan b, when we lose (but seem to have a great plan when we win)

I look forward to this commentary happening every time Curnow jags a few goals. I also look forward to this commentary dissipating as it did with the NicNat vs Watts debate.

AFL Coaches IQ Index
There are two types of people in this world @Matsuo Basho those that can infer things from incomplete data and... Well considering the last 3 premierships have come from your positions of 6, 7 and 9, I'd suggest, you either don't want to have too much IQ or too little IQ as judged by some bloke... therefore the inference that it is relevant to obtaining a premiership is that it a) is, b) is not c) choose your own adventure.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
What's the fascination with Preuss @dazzledavey36? Surely he would be selected if they felt he could contribute for the entire game, so if they're not selecting him, I would assume they know that he can't?

with all due respect @bandicoot - I cannot for the life of me see that Pendlebury, or Moore, or whomever fretting over the r'ship of Buckley and Malthouse - it will be a non factor.

Sam Weideman Re-signs Until 2021
Delving into a different area - and the gender roles in workplaces and what is deemed 'appropriate to display and not'... Anecdotal experiences from women in corporate positions discuss how if a women shows emotions (compassion, warmth, sadness, frustration) in a male dominated workplace - with archaic thinking - they're often labelled as emotional or crazy and hard to work with AND if they don't and are operating/perceived to be acting like men in the sense of 'clear direct leadership/cold pragmatic decisions' without the show of traditional notions of 'female compassion and empathy', then they're labelled as 'ball breakers' 'bossy or feisty' (rather than assertive), AND hard to work with! I love how this generation of young men and women discuss emotions more openly... and my context is that - I work in mental health and run my own practice - and from what I see from men 50 and above vs 30 -50 vs 20 to 30, there are clear attitudes and skill sets that present, in how to talk about emotions and what is appropriate to display and what is not. So the generational shift - even in the last 3 years is significant, and it's wonderful.

Sam Weideman Re-signs Until 2021
Mmmm, no need to have real human experiences such as strong emotions eh.... in an industry where you are scruitinised internally by your own club and externally by pundits - week in week out... Frankly, on this occasion - you sound like the worst kind of 'Lifecoach...' who get's their slogans and soundbites from the airport bookstore.

Sam Weideman Re-signs Until 2021
For forks sake - you're either winding folk up with that comment, or fail to understand the nuances of how delayed pre seasons, surgeries, and having half your 22 in essence a vfl team impacts on form. That stuff is far more relevant than a vague notion of 'getting ahead of themselves'. I'd love to see (and then debate you on) what you view as the indicators, that they 'got ahead of themselves....'

Bryce Gibbs
Reading this article https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-06-07/crows-expect-gibbs-to-stay-but-is-the-trade-a-failure I wondered if Gibbs would add value to our side from an outside run and accurate kicking perspective... I'm not sure why, but I have had a soft spot for him (aside from his man-bun years) and still rate him as a footballer...
