  1. Yep, Carlton is the lowest placed team they have lost to so far ... they have been pretty consistent
  2. l thought it was a 5 part podcast, have l missed something
  3. l said often. If l look at the premiership winning senior coaches of recent times over half had mongrel or were ultra competitive types as players. They clearly need to have other attributes but the former helps
  4. Thanks for the useless 2nd sentence
  5. Yes, got it, neeld played some games of afl. Zero people skills.
  6. He has been in the system long enough and coached this own sides at afl and vfl. His time had passed
  7. As you would appreciate a good coach needs lots of attributes. Strangely after the back and forth, you actually agree he isn't a senior coach. Why dont you think he would make a good coach?
  8. Voss and Hird didn't do an apprenticeship, Neeld didn't even play AFL did he? Back to the thread, so you would appoint Jade when if Goodwin get the chop? Don't think so
  9. Take your point, although I'm not sure that a good senior coach at VFL level is going to be a good coach at AFL level. Often the better coaches are types that played with mongrel or extreme levels of competitiveness and can keep players on edge and their teams tend to play a similar style ...
  10. The top 8 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and close finishes in some time with many teams in contention and a few important 8 point games. There are always upsets each round but I've tried to map out where the Dees and others might land by round 18 ..
  11. I'd suggest he has missed out on a few senior gigs by now not just that one. There is a dearth of coaches capable ready to step up at the moment so Robert Harvey, Jade Rawlings and others keep presenting but never get the main gigs. Its like the girl you have know for ages and are great friends with but would never go out with them
  12. Jade is likeable and a very good line coach but that's it. Doesn't have the presence of a senior coach or the advanced people smarts to get the best out of players.
  13. they had salary cap issues and had to decide between I think him, yze, and some other talent ... given how he finished off at the pies they probably chose the right option ... although should have managed things better to avoid having to force someone out in the first place
  14. Couple of things: * we should raid the hawks, they are in for a slow rebuild and some of their class players won't be in their premiership window eg gunston * norf will be getting nervous about trading out their pick 8 last year * the knock on polec is his defence effort unlike Langdon who runs both ways and more. goodwin isn't a fan of those types from my read
  15. Competitive and skilled on both sides. Exactly what we have been lacking off half back. Will take a bit more time to get consistency but looks the part and maybe be able to move up the ground with time
  16. trengrove said there was stuff going on in the background, which is obvious, why didn't he get asked about the specifics of it, was captaincy player voted only, peptide issue, not getting played by roos, did the club mismanage his injury, was neeld really that bad (l think l know the answer to that one)
  17. dropping him will harm us, should have moved forward and rotated through the midfield
  18. how do you end up late when all you need to do is follow your mates out the door ... seems odd this one ... makes you think there is more to it ... leadership group would have probably voted on it with coaching staff
  19. agree we should wait for market value to pick up and for our finances to be back to pre covid or close plus have the plans for the new training facility back on track - then look at selling off any other assets
  20. they way the article is written and other prior messages from Bartlett and Pert seems to imply they have reduced debt themselves - not sure that is accurate - l can sell my car and reduce debt but have l really moved the needle on our financial position and should l take credit for that? lm not an accountant but feels like we are being mislead a little
  21. then is the narrative from the board and ceo misleading or at best not being transparent?
  22. esse acted like thugs that day, but being at the ground, it was clear that it was schwarz opportunity to fly the flag for some of the young blokes but he didn't and the physical response from the senior players was meek. its a gf and if big blokes are repeatedly beating up on you you need your big blokes to respond with force
  23. jeff farmer also seemed to have more off field issues when he returned. sometimes its better for the player to stay away from their home environment it seems. hard to be too critical though given all the stuff he was had to deal with. shows mfc probably managed him well when he was here. supreme talent and was a star ... hopefully he can get back to there ... can't see him out of the freo side for too long though
  24. great to see we are continuing to support the club with membership, sponsors are hanging tough, we have made 1 mill in donations, and renegotiations have saved money. am confused a little about our financial position however. any accountants out there that can clarify? didn't most or all the debt get cleared because we simply sold down our assets and longer term doesnt that affect our ability to generate revenue from those proceeds?
  25. Fantastic pod cast
