  1. What a silly paragraph, shows you have run out of facts to argue. He may not want to extend his contract we don't know
  2. I have no idea if he will go and nor do you or anyone else so its misleading. 4 years will make him a free agent or very close to free agency so you never know Having said that l hope he lives up to the hype. He is an excellent prospect and I think there is a good chance he will be elite and he will need to be
  3. Wow ... that was mature ... your wish is granted however
  4. Last time l checked he was on a 4 year contract not 10
  5. Pro dee, he was out of their club already as you put it. The trade was just a negtiation of what they would get. He is uncontracted and headed for the draft with a price on his head and adel would have softened by next week as they all do in the end. Well done to mfc for attracting him however
  6. Pro dee, no one said we want to keep the top picks we just want to get more in return for current and future 1st rounders in trades. Agree to not stockpiling
  7. Hey rogue, l think you shot yourself in the foot. There are some guns or young up and coming guns on that pick 10 list and to a lesser degree pick 12. Again, work on the sample, exclude the 2016 kids that can go either way. Its clear we are likely to miss out on a gun (on average) with two top draft picks. Lever better be elite, good thing is l think he is
  8. The MFC based sample is skewed and are outliers due to never seen before recruitment, development, and coaching by MFC. Best you get a sample from all clubs to make your point.
  9. All true about the hit and miss stats on top 10 picks but the truth is he is out of contract and using recent example of the market value for big fish crossing clubs as a guide we can safely say we paid overs but not by as much as some suggest. The stats about Hawt, Sydn, Geel are not in context as they were completing an already polished team with mature / free agency recruits Having said that, I don't mind paying a little over if it fills a well defined hole in our list which he does just nicely. Also has massive POTENTIAL upside as a 21 year old that made the all Aussie squad. Suspect we have other business to conduct this trade period and the opportunity cost of dragging this on further might have started to bite so we needed the deal done ASAP
  10. All teams struggle for mature back up rucks that can hold their own at AFL level, that's why Zak needs consideration
  11. Very true. Everything is relative. I suspect Geelong see a fire sale opportunity. "We love you Jack you are in your prime blah blah blah but we only think you are worth squat in terms of draft picks back to MFC". Suspect Jack wants to go to Geelong and stay in Vic but Geelong want a bargain with either Watts or Stringer as they are on the outer at their clubs. Ablett is their priority and they have limited draft picks to bargain with this year
  12. This is very true. I've mentioned previously that we need to take a look at the way players are being conditioned and returned from rehab. Misson and his team seems to go under the radar but I'm not convinced they are doing a great job
  13. Jack also had a say when he did f-all on return from injury and we lost key games in our run towards the finals
  14. 2017 Melbourne best and fairest results First: Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy – Clayton Oliver (530 votes) Second: Sid Anderson Memorial Trophy – Jack Viney (346) Third: Ron Barassi Senior Memorial Trophy – Nathan Jones and Jordan Lewis (327) Fourth: Ivor Warne Smith Memorial Trophy – Not awarded due to third place tie Fifth: Dick Taylor Memorial Trophy – Neville Jetta (321) 6 – Michael Hibberd (318) 7 – Christian Petracca (302) 8 – Jeff Garlett (284) 9 – Tom McDonald (278) 10 – Dom Tyson (275) 11 – Alex Neal-Bullen (263) 12 – Jayden Hunt (256) 13 – Bernie Vince (240) 14 – Mitch Hannan (216) 15 – Sam Frost (211) 16 – Jake Melksham (201) 17 – James Harmes (197) 18 – Oscar McDonald and Cam Pedersen (196) 20 – Christian Salem (178) 21 – Jack Watts (172) 22 – Max Gawn (138) 23 – Jesse Hogan (122) 24 – Tom Bugg (102) 25 – Billy Stretch (76) 26 – Angus Brayshaw (59) 27 – Josh Wagner (52) 28 – Sam Weideman (36) 29 – Dean Kent (30) 30 – Jake Spencer (20) 31 – Jay Kennedy-Harris and Jack Trengove (8)
  15. That's how I read it Demons11. I think both clubs agreed to try and take the spotlight off their clubs by making mother hood statements
  16. No chance of speaking tonight, you need to win an award for that
  17. Agree Watts has a few years on Lever ... the trade speculation seems to have really had an impact
  18. Hey Sue, no one is saying get rid of Jack just because of the media circus that follows him but its a nice byproduct I have to admit
  19. Well said Skuit ... you typically get the 'footy dept knows best' line when other posters don't have any rationale or facts to debate a topic. It's their 'get out of jail' card
  20. Paul Roos made the same comments about Lumumba ... I rest my case ... its part of the draft baiting process
