  1. Missed any earlier discussion on this but it seems your actually saying the club deliberately mislead supporters last year about Viney and his injuries. Thats a disappointing outcome if true. Don't want to hear another poster stifling debate about the communication and management of injuries with worn out statements about posters like 'we are not medical professionals', 'we are not on the inner sanctum', 'I will place faith in the leaders of the club to manage injuries'.
  2. You make references to government, corruption and bring misogynistic. Are we still talking about footy injuries? It was a one off review after a spate of foot and other injuries. When it comes to injuries we are poor at communicating and managing them. Feel free to keep your head in the sand though
  3. The findings of the review into our sport science team PJ announced last year haven't been shared with members which is disappointing given we would like to know the outcome before launching into another season. Most agree we have had a spate of foot injuries, reoccurring injuries, examples of poor injury management and deciding when players are match fit and right to play AFL. LDVC what would you expect to happen to the leader of a team that has had a review announced into their teams concerning performance in a ruthless results based industry? My views is they are respecting his tenure and don't want to pay out his contract. He wisely has seen the writing on the wall and looked at other opportunities with his family. Seems like good timing and all the best to him. He joined us when no one else wanted to
  4. Don't need to understand medicine. This is a results based industry and the sample size is big enough to make judgements. Worth noting that Peter Jackson launched a review last season of our sports science and Misson is now moving on at season end.
  5. Not trying to be dramatic but will be pretty happy just to make the 8 this year given the predictable slow start we are going to have. My hope is that we can be the bulldogs of 2016 and finish strongly. Way too many injured and under done players in the lead up to round 1. Could they have been better managed? Jones, Melksham and Viney had been in rehab for a ridiculous amount of time. AVB and KK have reinjured themselves. JSmith playing out JLT injured. Max and some others didnt look fresh. Misson is leaving later this year so good time for some fresh ideas
  6. Might be a touch optimistic GCDee. While many are becoming available and/or passing tests,, I'm not sure we can carry more than a few players with niggles/little match practice into round 1 when the intensity will be high. We are going to need to finish the season pretty strong and hope for some luck and better player management with injuries.
  7. The positive is he gets an extra week on the track after coming back from injury and only playing the one game.
  8. happy to lose $160 mill if I still have a few mill left at the end !
  9. Those comments were just hype. Comments are made between opponents all the time. They only gain prominence when it suits a narrative
  10. I get that SWYL, and its nice to be reminded. I guess my standards and expectations have risen since those dark old days when Trengrove, Grimes, Mitch Clark etc were mostly on the injured list Also true however that he has been there for a long time and things don't appear to have improved. Injury / player management was one of the main reasons we missed the 2017 finals series. The recent spate of foot injuries meant fresh ideas were needed
  11. Each to their own I guess. I would argue we had injury issues under Roos also, some foot related also
  12. I did actually but that's another story. Its the only department of the MFC that hasn't moved with the times. We are otherwise a modern football club these days. Maybe you can send me some of your rose coloured glasses ?
  13. Lets be honest, he hasn't had the best record of keeping our key players on the track. Peter Jackson announced a review of the sport science department late last year after all the foot injuries and this appears to be a subtle changing of the guard. Well done by mfc for managing his exit the way they have. Don't doubt he tried his best. Not a bad time to be leaving by Misso given that we will reflect on all the injured / rehab players we have at the moment and those that re-injure if we don't make the finals this year. A real possibility unfortunately for those of us that are realists
  14. Does anyone know how many years the deal is for? Typically if its not mentioned in the announcement its only a 1 year deal . Hope to be wrong.
  15. Apparently hamstring injuries are now minor ... gotta love the spin the comms team put on our injuries ... "Minor hamstring injury for May"
  16. I'll remain concerned and hopeful until I see him hit the track and can judge his condition for myself. Can't rely on the club to update us about key injuries when they occur
  17. Easy to take post shots at the guy. Will remain a favourite even in freo colors. Gave us hope when we needed it. Hard trainer off field coming back in great condition at the start of the last preseason and was leading b and f or close before injury. Can't doubt his commitment to the club and hasn't broken any laws. We have all been on a bender in the past and good luck to him what he does during his break as long as mentally he is ok
  18. Goal line to goal line sprints.Painful. ANB the winner
  19. Doing some match simulation stuff. About 20 on field. About 6 off the bench. Shortened oval with no real tackling or goal kicking. Seems more about running, decision making and ball movement. Of the 26 l counted roughly 8 that would be in our starting 22 which includes May. Doing circuit activities now eg weights, ropes, sprints, bags, short kicking, excercises etc. Looks like fun actually. Good energy around the group. Numbers training are a continuing concern though. 22 mfc staff ?
  20. At the end we had around 15-17 players doing the sprint sessions and I counted 25 MFC staff on the ground or on the fringes. Must have been some very special skill based sprinting they were doing (just kidding!) ... pretty sure I saw Neil Craig talking to coaching staff as well
  21. Lord Travis, you will find there is a group of posters here that don't want to believe its possible that we miss manage injuries and the communication of them ... the usual line is to say you are not a medical expert. Its fair to say none of us are experts on any of the other inner working of the club either but we still post about them. Our track record is poor and many are in denial. Understand we were reviewing the sports science team (Peter Jackson indicated a while ago) but nothing appears to have come if it.
  22. That may be the case DS, but as a supporter / member I couldn't give a rats about what set up there is behind the scenes amongst the journalists - AFL,.com.au, channel 7 or the Bendigo Advertiser for that matter. I'm only interested in how well I'm kept informed by the club. When injury news comes from outside the club first, it creates the perception that we are trying to manage supporter expectation/hide potentially bad news. The club has some history on this. And its not minor news when we are left to guess how the 2nd reco is going to our very well paid recruit for which we paid 2 first rounders.
  23. Why we need to rely on outside media to advise members and supporters of injury issues is beyond me ... disappointing
  24. We should see about some slightly longer socks
