they are challenging

problem is proven mids don't go to teams to be insurance and mfc don't want to pay a hefty price tag for someone to play mostly vfl until injuries occur. l think harmes in his preferred position is a completely different player and hope he comes in as he is more the viney type that provides defensive balance in the middle
-
We have more quality mids than most teams, no team can cover missing gun mids perfectly ... we can manage with those that remain and harmes can come in and continue how he started this season in his preferred position
-
6 pages on a hypothetical player move with no inkling of reality ... we are 6 and zip move on
-
all good points. l know the club has a data scientist that analyses the scoring to develop probability based expected scores based on the difficulty of the scoring positions. seems like we can do some work to get the ball into better spots. your points suggest we weren't coached well last year and l would agree i.e. too many players played out of position and a game plan focussed too much on contested ball
-
If it goes ahead they should turn it into a double header. Our recent head to head record isn't great though
-
I think credit for getting players wanting to come to the mfc goes mainly to Simon Goodwin. Then Tim Lamb, and Kelly O'Donell in that order. When players arrive they invariably say it was the conversation with goody that got them most interested plus the fact we usually offer an extra year than most other clubs ... there are quotes out there from the players themselves if anyone wants to Google. l give Mahoney alot of the credit for the draft pick swaps that have been first rate

Christian Salem Re-Signs for 5 Years
Demons1858 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seems to me that good mates Oliver, Salem and Petracca are all done deals and the marketing department is staggering the good news for maximum affect .. good on them if true -
If he sets himself, the classic but still classy Love Hate knuckle tattoos aren't out of his reach and could be the difference in inking himself a new deal
-
We have a shortage of players with tatts, Jones was the only one against the Hawks last week and he's getting on. Another mullet type would add some much needed depth also

we have had as many goes at this has we have rebuilds

Fritsch Out for 2 Weeks with Fractured Hand
Demons1858 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just analysed it in a bit more detail. This was their side last week with 8 players 1.90m or more. We played 6 1.90m or more against the cats. B: Sam Frost, Kyle Hartigan, Changkuoth Jiath HB: Jarman Impey, Blake Hardwick, Michael Hartley C: Dylan Moore, Jaeger O'Meara, Harry Morrison HF: Luke Breust, Chad Wingard, Tim O'Brien F: Tyler Brockman, Mitch Lewis, Dan Howe Foll: Ben McEvoy, Tom Mitchell, James Worpel Interchange: Jack Scrimshaw, Tom Phillips, Jonathon Ceglar, Liam Shiels With the Hawks being so tall, we have to replace May with another tall and Petty has to come in as the most in form VFL big man which leaves Lever to still do his thing. I would just reshuffle the rest of the side this week for Fritsh's forward role including Melksham, Jones, and maybe Sparrow. Hibberd probably comes in on the bench as his form warrants. Also, it might be a good idea to rest James Jordan as a med sub this week like they did with Sparrow previously. If the hawks want to go in with 3 talls (including Scrimshaw) in their defence then good luck keeping up with us in the forward half -

His form seems to have coincided with him signing a contract extension ... co-incidence or complacency ... I'm thinking the later based on the available evidence. Still hopeful he can switch on again however -

mayak daw might be a chance -
In 2018 he dragged the team with him to win finals being a bull ... if others were doing more then he wouldn't need to ... others have changed and he no longer needs to fill the void is whats happened .. selfless means doing more of the pressure and defensive acts ... in the past he had to always the first to try and lift the team when momentum is against us and others are dropping off
-
That this thread was even started is 'quite brilliant' as Ross Lyon would say. Gun teams have gun mids that need to learn to work together if they want to be strong finals contender. The answer isn't pushing one of your best players out and certainly not the most selfless mid of them all that had been waiting for the penny to drop with the other mids to lift their team first acts and sacrifice their games when it's their turn ... Bris had Voss, Black, Akermanis, Lappin etc. 3 brownlow medalist amongst them and they stayed together

could see BC coming in to consult on the new training base and perhaps leading the project
-
I'm going to guess its to fill this position ... https://seekjobsaustralia.com/job-details/general-manager-commercial-melbourne-football-club-8538843
-
Sounds promising ... can you advise if its player related, football dept related, any other category you could narrow it down to?
-
If we believe this to be the case, then Pert probably needs to take credit for keeping our quality players on the list with the review and changes he drove. Personally, I don't doubt he was looking around (or maybe his mgr was for him) but he would have needed interest from a team that will challenge sooner than MFC to have even considered moving and Carlton was never that team - they do however have salary cap room to help drive his price up which is handy. Anyway, excited to have him on board and love the way he goes about his footy. We have an awesome midfield emerging with maturity
-
You will find that MFC would have been consulted in the decision as it reduces cost out to them
-
No one can doubt that he is a one eyed demon now ... 2 to 4 weeks ... will be back in 2 unless there are complications
