  1. Agree, he is contracted, will want his cash, and no one else is silly enough to pay it. 2 x $500 is a smart deal
  2. I think its more that Weid is uncontracted
  3. Smart move ... I would say I was staying too if I wanted to the media to back off when there is no certainty that I and my current club can / will come to terms with Freo ... lets see what happens over the trade period however
  4. While I don't doubt they have a high opinion of him, I think its the flexibility it gives our defensive system that is the key
  5. Don't recall Rohan taking too many high flying marks despite his medium height. Either Hibberd or Hunt can handle him ... if Hunt was fit he would be a better 'speed' match up though.
  6. I think the Visy Board 'job' had more to do with him going to the blues than anything else ... Ralph went back a fair way to come up with that doozy
  7. So Weid is more value to another club than ours, that means we can use the value we get in other ways like Cerra ... moneyball at its best ... re a back up forward, yes we will need to think it through but .. we can actually play with just the 2 tall's rather than 3 ... we can also deploy Petty or Tomlinson forward ... we can also trade in a mature forward like Adelaide's Lynch or Carlton's Casboult for a pack of chips (or even text Jon Patton about this availability) ... would we prefer to keep Weid playing the 2's or get Cerra who will help our 1's?
  8. So Ralph did state he thinks MFC is Cerra's main priority ... he just forgot how creative MFC are at moving up the trading order and that they can make it happen 9 times out of 10
  9. Totally agree. MFC and other clubs of interest would normally have made representations to Cerra and his manager in season and by now they would know who they want to go to ... it's not good footy etiquette to then nominate a team if they are still playing finals footy ... also not good practice to nominate anyone too early as you want the clubs to try and out bid each other in the belief a few extra $$$ will get it across the line ... for mfc, the trade may also be linked to someone like Weid and others moving on so those negotiations and trades need to evolve also ... I remember Mahoney saying openly that the May deal wouldn't go ahead unless Hogan moved first ..
  10. So I won't be satisfied for a few days if we go out. After that - I will reflect on the facts in that we: finished 9th last year, didn't go out in straight sets, will be around the mark for a few more years, and a loss will put more fire in the belly for 2022.
  11. So we don't need to trade anyone to Freo directly, we just need to pass on the pick we will get from a Weid trade deal plus a future first rounder plus some fancy footwork to move the first rounder up the order a touch ... all done! A Bedford, Chandler, Baker, or Lockhart (all doing well at VFL level) might also see an opportunity in a younger developing team elsewhere that we can leverage in a small way. He is also uncontracted and so Freo have a touch less leverage. In the end, if he wants to come to us there are ways. Its more about whether we have the cash to splash.
  12. So Jack did himself no favours by only achieving basic afl fitness and below par intensity. All of which were in his control. With his elite talents he should have had a better career regardless of mfcs poor development programs
  13. Very even performance tonight, if only it was at the G. Simply awesome again! The only significant error made was at the selection table, leaving out Hibberd who would have been able to better subdue Cameron.
  14. So reading between the lines, he still doesn't want to sign up ... possibly declaring his hand just before the commencement of trade period. The suggestion that he is waiting to see who the coach is doesn't stack up either as the the pies will be appointing an untried coach i.e. McCrae
  15. May's interview on SEN during the week was as good as any I listened to, and then this! Wow!
  16. Please spare us, we all know too well
  17. Can be our medical sub on grand final day!
  18. Agree ... so we would get an aging one dimensional mid and hold back the likes of jordan, sparrow, and even harmes to a degree ... no thanks
  19. Unusual to be taking so long ... for this reason only, it makes we wonder whether there is some form of mediation going on
  20. Looked like a seasoned big last night at 19 years of age ... haven't seen that since Neitz came on the scene ... gun
  21. If he is happy to sign on reduced terms then we keep him - struggles in his contract year and can be better - but not the long term solution we hoped he would be.
  22. In Pert's recent interview l'm pretty sure he said it's our home game and it will be at the MCG, although no official date and time appears to have been announced
  23. l think we are all assuming alot about Harmes mindset, some of the posts are treating this as fact when there is no robust evidence and for the most part he plays team first footy
  24. l suspect they were expecting 1 week that would give jack a chance to freshen up before finals .. 2 isn't ideal but he will still have a week back before finals which he is made for
  25. Not if precedents have been set. Like with umpiring you want consistency and fairness. It was convenient to finally make a statement on elbows now that a smaller club was involved
