  1. Think that applies to everyone..... This is a disappointing attitude especially after one, yes only one really poor year. And opinion on his contract negotiations are pure conjecture as we have no clue what goes on behind closed doors, so you are choosing to think that he is screwing the club. Is he really? Prove it? And where does it say that he (or anyone else for that matter) can't try to get a good contract, I appreciate the frustrations about delays and money, but you are choosing to ignore the loyalty and great play over years of service. Did you disrespect and dislike him to this degree when he won the Best and Fairest at the end of 2010? A bad year does not make a bad person and certainly shouldn't make loyal supporters black ball classy life long Melbourne players so easily. Was he a poor captain? Yes. But you are questioning him in his entirety and that is unacceptable and disappointing to me. I just hope that relieving him of the burden will give him the chance to retrieve the form that won him a Bluey. Plus no matter who you are being sacked is never easy, but he has handled it with nothing but honesty and class. He deserves better than this crap.
  2. Absolutely not, I hope we see Brad Green circa 2010 make a very welcome return......
  3. Thanks to all who have posted training summaries........ Being up here in Sydney, all the reports are great to read to get some understanding of what is going on down there. Cheers guys!!!
  4. Love this appointment(s)...... I have been away for quite some time and come back to this kind of excellence. A wonderfully bold move from a club that hasn't been renowned for it. Although I have never been a fan of the co-captain regime in theory, I love these two and understand why (age & inexperience) they have been anointed to the role. I have such respect for both and have thought for some time now, that Grimes in particular was a future captain. His class in the press conference was truly brilliant. As for the past players not in the leadership group. I can understand the disappointment of some, but these guys failed as leaders when needed. This unfortunately includes Green, on who's shoulders the captaincy never sat well and he (we) suffered because of it. Hopefully we will get the old Brad back (circa 09-10) now that the burden has been lifted. Not to mention the class he has shown (Twitter response) after being replaced proves the kind of man and Demon he is.
  5. Do you think we can all stop picking on the city of Sydney, this team has nothing to do with Sydney !!!
  6. Maybe, but he'd be getting far bigger crowds to the game in Beijing than he would in Blacktown ......
  7. I think the end has been coming for Hewitt for more than a little while now..... He has to now assess whether he can keep up with what's going on in the mens game with a body that has been failing him a quite some time.
  8. All Blacks will win this tournament finally and probably with plenty of points to spare. They completely out classed the Wallabies last weekend, and should do the same to the French, who to this point have been wholly unimpresive, despite making the final. Tonight the Aussies won the bronze medal match against Wales and played far, far better with Barnes and Sharpe in the opening fifteen. Makes you wonder??? But it has been a long time waiting for the Kiwis and personnally I hope they beat the French on Sunday......

The Vikings took a QB with their first round pick (#12 from memory) last year. Christian Ponder starts this weekend, unfortunately for him it's against Green Bay. As for Andrew Luck, he is far more consistent at the college level than Cam Newton ever was, who only played the one full year as starting QB at Auburn (albeit a Championship year) after he was forced out of Florida. Luck was also touted to go pro last year after he finished his junior year at Stanford but instead decided to go back to school and finish his architecture degree, but most likely he would have gone ahead of Newton anyway. Luck is going to be great, but I don't think the Vikings are going to get anywhere near him. There are three franchises that are currently win-less - Miami, Indianapolis and St Louis. Now the Rams took the No. 1 pick in 2009 in Sam Bradford and will not go near another QB as Bradford is outstanding and the least of the Rams current problems. They are also married to a massive contract ($75 million'ish) that no other club would want trade for. Although I would take him at San Francisco in a heartbeat. Indianapolis is interesting given the serious injury (neck) status of Petyon Manning. He most likely won't play this season with the injury clearly being very serious and recurring, plus he will be 36 before the beginning of next season thus there are a lot of questions over his future. Luck would be a great player to hand the team over to. Which leaves us with Miami. Well to put it simply they suck, they have no QB of note, no game plan, are in a bugger of a division (with Patriots, Jets & Bills) and will probably sack their coach before the end of this year. For my money right now the Dolphins are the ones most likely to get the No. 1 overall pick and take Andrew Luck with it. But of course there is still a very long way to go.

Happy to see you on board with the 49ers there Jack...... And also happy to see them finally, finally doing some really good things. Defence is great, o-line has been outstanding, Frank Gore is amazing, again, and Alex Smith has finally realised how to play some consistently good (great even) footy, years after being the no. 1 draft pick. Better late than never I guess. And aside from apparently needing to learn how to shake losing coaches hands with less vigour I think Jim Harbaugh is clearly doing a wonderful job. I'm actually enjoying this season !!!
  11. Amen to that Munga..... And we will all have our fingers and toes crossed that this is exactly what happens. Huge hope for great possibilities. Time will tell on all of it of course, but the glass seems to be half full, at least at this time of year!!!
  12. It must have been a pretty damn close call........ Cameron Bruce survives Hawk cull http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/cameron-bruce-survives-hawk-cull/story-fn69a32t-1226172102153

  15. Staggering really...... And I don't really understand any journo's "hatred" of any club. I work in the media and I know the reality but just report what is there to report and stop the crap flinging.
  16. Aww gee, thanks man ....... There are plenty on here who I adore but have always had a great time with Nasher, Rhino, Rogue, Jaded & Bub.
  17. I genuinely thought Watts, Trengove and Grimes all sounded excellent in that clip..... Very professional and wise. Miles beyond their tender ages.
  18. He actually collected a couple of awards tonight....... *Norm Smith Memorial Trophy (coach’s award): Jordie McKenzie *Heart and Soul Player Award: Jordie McKenzie Congrats to Jordie for both, he is a well deserved winner. And I must admit I do like him winning the "Heart and Soul Player" award, that seems to fit!!!
  19. Chip is a good leader but I don't see him as captain..... I also wonder about Greens capabilities under a new coach, especially this one although I don't see Davey leading anyone into the future. But for me Grimes has always had my vote as the next captain, with both Trengove and Watts added to the leadership group.
  20. From the White Maggot, just for something funny...... Scully continues to deny GWS-move at press conference announcing signing September 13, 2011 by The White Maggot "I have not made a decision yet" At the Greater Western Sydney press-conference held yesterday to announce his signing, new recruit Tom Scully continued to deny that he had a made a final decision about his playing future.“No, I haven’t signed – I’m just up here to have a look” declared Scully as he posed for a promotional photo in his new kit with coach Kevin Sheedy. When passed a message from his manager scribbled on the back of a freshly minted $100 note informing him that the jig was up, Scully recanted. “I saw this as an opportunity to come up here to be part of a brand new football club with the best financial planning facilities in the country.” Scully had been in Sydney, the home of the ASX and Australia’s funds management industry, visiting GWS’ facilities on Sunday with a touring party consisting of his family and other key advisers including Chris Judd, Gary Ablett, Nathan Bock and Judas Iscariot. Scully also took the opportunity to dismiss suggestions that the drawn out saga was a charade, manufactured by his management to give the impression that he was still weighing up his decision. “That’s completely unfair. That’s not what I, nor my management had ever intended. We always saw the process as more of a farce or sham.” http://thewhitemaggo...uncing-signing/
