  1. Agreed Rhino...... We don't like to think about the possibility of someone like Davey being out but that is his reality. The hit was just awful and will be punished, with a few weeks I feel.
  2. So my thoughts were somewhat comprehensible...... True on that Rhino, we did seem to fight a little more, but it still wasn't enough.... Green really didn't get the opportunity to screw up as badly this week given being the sub and all, but Davey has been utterly atrocious. There hasn't been a lot going on for him for a while and leadership is not one of his capabilities, but neither is winning the ball, making a (legal & sporting) contest or supporting the team, all of which non-leaders can and should do. As for Green, I have more time for, but the year is a disaster and it has proven that he is not a captain, just the guy with the experience. I would be happy for him to go back to last years version, it was far superior and rather needed in the current climate.
  3. Well the Gunners did score but it was into their own net..... Yeah Liverpool (2-0) !!!

Anyone catching up with the pre-season games? Especially given the real thing starts in a couple of weeks (on 08/09)........ NFL Schedule
  5. Amen.....
  6. It all comes down to their attitude (or utter lack there of)..... The misery is that I don't think Richmond are actually better than us, but they played like they wanted it more and it mattered more. So they were successful, today. There seems to be a level of complete contentment within the ranks that this, what we are seeing, is good enough and we can be what we want, when we want to be it. The rub is that this team will continue to be beaten by teams, above and below it, which on any given day, that will actually show more heart, fierceness, determination etc. Maybe our guys just think it will happen without the hard work. Unfortunately that attitude should be whipped out of them (new coach?) because it is completely heartbreaking to watch players we support, not give the contest the respect it deserves.
  7. That seems to be a pretty consistant opinion on the in's......
  8. 6. Sylvia 5. Jones 4. Trengove 3. Garland 2. Frawley 1. Blease
  9. Oh, if only B) !!!
  10. Amen to that, Nash......
  11. So the night went well then......
  12. I certainly hope so.....
  13. Fantastic news that unashamedly brought a smile to my face..... Thanks kids !!!
  14. I don't think it is that simple..... Yes, we know what we are going to get with Sylvia and that can be brilliant, but unfortunately often is little more than mediocre, with a pretty hefty dose of what can conceivably be labelled as laziness or attitude thrown into the mix. The variable here, and this is something we all want, is Col himself taking the responsibility to make himself into a better, more consistent footballer with more impact on all games. This has not happened thus far, so the odds of it happening now are questionable, but it is always a possibility. So that would be the upside of holding onto him, but there is still that rather massive question mark hanging over him. The other side of the coin is the trade option. Now of course this is an even bigger risk, because all draft choices carry a massive risk attached to them. It would probably push things back given we are again having to develop a kid (or two) and we don't know exactly what they are going to be. All we can minimally hope for is that they will/can be better than the traded player (our track record is ok'ish at this in recent times, see Gysberts and Grimes). But the development must be done and in a few years we could be right back were we started, or loving the work of a great young player. All up in the air. So I guess the question is, is it better to stick with the devil you know or go for the devil you don't? And there are pros and cons on both of the arguments. What I personally hope for is for Sylvia to to take the choice away. Take the deal the club is offering, prove your worth the money being paid, and make yourself into what we have always wanted you to be, and felt you should be.
  15. Sorry Bub, I simply don't know what I was thinking..... !!!
  16. I don't know about the staying at GWS part (they get no press to speak of in their own city)..... But according to Fox Sports News, Williams has said he has no interest in the jobs at Adelaide or Melbourne.
  17. OK so hypothetically if this happened why does he have the right to be angry? I am not saying anything definitive one way or the other, especially not in this thread, but Schwab's job is to take care of the club, yes? So at a basic level he has two things to do here, get Tom an offer, which was done and is reportedly very attractive, but he also has to make sure we are covered if Tom does decide to go after all. And there has been a year of this conjectured tussle and that was completely on Tom's timetable, to a lot of chagrin. So the question is what does he think was going to happen? So if there is any alleged malcontent on this theoretical front from the Scully camp.....tough nuts !!!
  18. Got it, cheers mate.....
  19. I understand what you're saying Barry..... These appointments are what is best for now (I think Viney was the best option of the available choices, and Garry has an important role to play for Jim's sake as much for the clubs). But longer term was what I was talking about and the choices made could well be quite different this time around.
  20. I didn't say any of our more experienced players were right for the job..... What I was saying is that while it is great for the club to be brave, they also have to be careful. I'm not saying there shouldn't be a shift. I think we can all agree that there needs to be one, but I want whoever is chosen to be damn ready for the responsibility of the role and thus not flounder and therefore suffer (like we have seen this year). And it is all well and good to say so and so did it so we should to, but it doesn't work like that. We can make all the assessments we like from out here, but we really aren't in any position to make a true judgement. I just hope the club is capable of making the right choice. Personally I would go with Grimes, but I understand peoples reservations given his catastrophic injury curse. But I will say that is is actually nice to have a few options within the next generation of players. Nice change for everyone there.
  21. Well, I guess that's something to be happy about......
  22. 6. Watts 5. McDonald 4. Trengrove 3. McKenzie 2. Garland 1. Howe
  23. Maybe, maybe not, but an action that probably won't be repeted this time around......
  24. Good summation, with a healthy dose of common sense there longsuffering......
  25. Bloody oath we do..... It has been proven how important he is to this team and we can only hope he will be fit for next week. We have missed him (and Grimes) enormously.
