  1. Congratulations to Josh and Sleeve :D !!! I hope everyone is doing fine and at least getting some sleep!!!
  2. This is good news for me :D !!! Especially given the fact that I live in Sydney, and had great doubts that Seven would have come close to giving us four live games a week. So the fact that we can now get these games on Fox Sports is fantastic. I am sorry for those who don't have the network, but this does make being interstate a little bit easier, as it has done for the past umpteen years!!!
  3. I'll second that.... I love reading the reports you guys give us and since I am in Sydney they are my only real contact to what is going on down there. So thanks for all the work!!!
  4. Being interstate we will be screwed with this unless they come up with something a little better than what we already had with channel 9, otherwise it is a huge backwards step. This actually might not happen given that Ten has the rights to the World Cup in September..... So, who the hell know?!!!
  5. And honestly at this time of year - thank god for it..... Keep up the great work :D !!!
  6. He was at Hawthorn for ten years..... Did they have an excessive number of soft tissue injuries throughout his tenure (if so then why was he there for so long?) or was it allegedly just in the last couple of years of his appointment? He was also fired when Clarkson was appointed in 2004 as the new coach, which really is not that shocking given that new coaches generally put the broom through. http://www.sportal.com.au/football.asp?i=news&id=56634 All I am trying to say is that lets not jump to any conclusions and lets give the guy, who is well credentialed, and the Club the benefit of any doubt we may have. Just my opinion :D !!!
  7. Over the past weeks and months we have been on here whinging (a lot) that our team is too slow by current AFL standards, they have trouble playing out the full four quarters and that they are generally one paced, especially in the midfield. How many times have we heard Daniher say in post match press conferences that "we ran out of legs". Now the club does something proactive and appoints someone they believe can remedy this problem and we are still suspicious and generally negative. I am not going to pretend to know anything about what he did or didn't do at Hawthorn (I don't really give much thought to the Hawks) but I for one am willing to put faith in the Melbourne Football Club to actually hire the person they truly believe is the best person for the job. If I am proved wrong, which I pray I will not be, then so be it, but you can't have it both ways. Does anyone here actually believe that the Dees would not have done their homework on their prospective employee and his history before the appointment was made? And that he would have had to go though what he will do with the players to increase whatever needs to be increased before he got the job? Of course they did and I am going to put my faith in the fact that they know more about what they are doing than we do. Just my opinion :D !!!
  8. He really doesn't, sorry!!!
  9. I also don't think we are rebuilding anymore, we are past that phase. But I would have thought that a team, any team, never stops building, not really and not completely. Even if they are lucky and strong enough to win a Premiership (which is bloody difficult to do). The following year will then present a new set of challenges and hurdles, and they must start from a totally different point. They have the ultimate goal in one year, but it never really stops. Just my opinion :D !!!
  10. You can vote for Yze's mark here.... http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=toyota&spg=moty At this point he is out to a very comfy lead :D !!!
  11. You are right, as I said it is not the best example. Although age wise they are the same, but experience is very different - I hope that made a little sense!!! It just grates on me that we are so quick to throw players away if they have a poor run of form. And Miller would have to cure cancer to get a positive report from some on here. I agree that there are chinks but they are not insurmountable with hard work and practice. And perhaps we should have a bit more faith in his work ethic, before dismissing him completely.
  12. I am not talking currently, but you do hear regularly that his skills are not the best. He was dropped back to Albury twice during his earlier years, but was kept on the Swans rookie list and was given his chance when Roos took over from Eade, and has had to work extremely hard to get where he is now. Now, I love Brett Kirk (he is a great bloke as well) and his work ethic is the one thing about him that should never be criticised but he is not the most talented "footballer" in the game. And his leadership has reached almost cult status up here. This may not have been the best example but all that I am trying to say that he needed time to get to where he is now and maybe that is what we need to give Miller. Not everyone is silky-skilled, although it seems we expect them all to be.
  13. I wonder how many times Brett Kirk was told he was "not up to AFL standard"? Plenty, I would bet. Some still believe that he still isn't, but not everyone (actually barely anyone) is going to be a genuine superstar. And simply writing players off at 22 years old and have shown that they can play is insane. Just my opinion and I know plenty will disagree, given the way people unfortunately seem to feel about Miller :D !!!
  14. How much game time did Dunn actually get? He barely seemed to be out there.
  15. Well said Jaded. I couldn't agree with you more.
  16. In New South Wales there is the state wide comp (NSWFL), and the Swans have their own team within that comp and that is who Davis was playing for, it was just in Wagga, probably against their local (and probably pretty good) side, which would have as much importantce to the comp as the Swans reserves. There is also the Sydney football competition which has affiliations with the Swans, but as I understand it my local team, the Pennant Hills Demons (which produced Lenny Hayes), also has some kind of affiliation with the Melbourne Football Club - when the team is in Sydney they often spend time with the Pennant Hills team and the local supporters.
