  1. It's problematic Adam. All of those four cover ground quickly and you'd want to bring in fast players to play on Etihad. I'd say it's likely they'll have a lighter week on the track and see what their energy levels are like. I'd be loath to drop either Petracca or Kennedy, but could see Oliver coming in fro Billy and Garland for O'Mac. Bugg and Michie are on the fringe, but neither have explosive pace. Harmes is both quicker and better in the air.
  2. Weideman and Hulett and they're not ready. Dunn btw is injured.
  3. A case of premature speculation in relation to a dynasty perhaps? It's not a given that they will win even one premiership and far more probable that they will not win multiple flags than the reverse. The human brain is conditioned to worry far more about what we might lose than what we might gain. GWS winning flags is no more or less of an obstacle to us winning a flag than any other team. In a non traditional football state they will need to do everything right and still rely on a healthy amount of luck to create a 'dynasty'. I think a lot of these predictions are based on fear and envy. Every Melbourne supporter knows that potential doesn't correlate that well with performance. There are more things that can cause the wheels on the GWS Bandwagon to fall off than remain on. Just like they did with Collingswood's young premiership list.
  4. Doesn't the AFL prospectus have these rankings based on various measures?
  5. Yes in all aspects. I wasn"t against him being given a run as a tall forward, but he is clearly more at home in defence.
  6. Well I'm guessing of course, But here in Canberra they are required to learn to umpire at a young age and then move to Melbourne if they want to pursue their career as an AFL umpire. Small sample I know, but despite the free on the weekend l think you get better umpires if they've played the game.
  7. Like the peerless Glenn James, maybe it's just my romanticised notion of the man, but he seemed to have the utmost respect of players and supporters alike, can't remember him getting sucked in the way many seem to. Only paid what he saw. My real gripe with most umpires is that it's clear that many of them have never really played the game since U 12s.
  8. I must have missed something here... Dunn on his day* is an adequate defender, but he isn't the second coming of Anthony Ingerson that some are alluding to. He could just has easily been delisted at the same time as his fellow draftee Matthew Bate was and no one on DL would have batted an eyelid. He redeemed himself by playing his first really consistent season of football the next year and since then has failed to inspire the FD so much so that he's been dropped from the leadership group and can't get a game ahead of inexperienced defenders such as O Mac and Frost. There are also some giant leaps of faith in thinking his inclusion will stop us from being scored against - it didn't against the Saints where he was clearly one of the worst offenders in non adherence to team structures. He's probably disappointed not to be getting a senior game, but the FD would be more so. If you're going to poke the bear you'd want to have some good wheels and a bloody long stick. * They say every dog has his day, Dunn's was in 2014 when he finished 4th in the B&F, - just like Nathan Carroll and Matthew Warnock.
  9. Unless the game has changed - most conventional BB games only have 5 on court.
  10. I agree about Kennedy, I think he's been super important - even when he hasn't been getting a heap, but yesterday he was terrible. According to the telecast he looked proppy in the pre-game warm up - the commentators seemed to think it was an ankle. Clearly he wasn't and he should get no allowances for it either - if you say you're good to go, you better perform. We had two emergencies there. In Hindsight Dawes as an in would have been a better option - at least it would have dragged Westhoff out. Contrast ANB to Oliver, he's a nice neat player, but he's small and he gets monstered in close. Newton for me is a downhill skier, he looks a lot better when we're winning, but barely influences the contest when we need to win the ball. We needed more support in the middle yesterday.
  11. Yeah, nah, a short lived rule to try and prevent Matthew Lloyd from diving - don't think it worked from memory.
  12. Has a Joel Selwood poster on his wall at home.
  13. Happy to keep Watts rucking Old, or bring Pedo back in?
  14. Tough on Mitchie - thought he was pretty good. Wasn't as enthused as you in relation to ANB and Newton. Thought Watts was OK in the Ruck, but still question marks over his hardness at the contest. Interesting selection dilemma with Tyson, Jetta and potentilly Dawes to come in.
  15. Hope he plays back there against us and he's made to play on Dean Kent.
  16. Next to us belting the Lions, Jeremy Howe lining up on the HBF where he's been named and playing like he did for us in that position would make my weekend (remembering Bucks claims that he'd been played out of position)- Further fuel for the Collingwood list management funeral pyre.
  17. Of the two players that I would look at that I think are also gettable (Lobb won't be) I'd look at James Stewart first (third tall/ruck) - Not just because in my dreams I'd like a premiership FF line of Stewart, Weideman and Kennedy (Jesse at CHF) so I could give it to the Pies fans I know and the second one would be Caleb Marchbank only 193 cms is a little shortish to be a gorilla tamer (same height as Hurley though), but was highly rated and can't get a consistent run at it.
  18. Particularly if we are chasing Hurley, doesn't auger well for either (though it begs the question of what club would want a discarded KPB after the previous club replaced them) I think it will be Dunn based on both contract and apparent lack of love from the FD.
  19. Presented plenty of stuff - just that the judge didn't regard it as evidence supporting his claims. Annoying to have people with legal training dismiss your carefully concocted narrative so arbitrarily. I'm sure Tania would have helped him with his submission though -if they're still talking that is.
  20. Harmes has a corkie. Probably restricted his run today. Salem failed his concussion test.
  21. Yes hard to see any other club stuff it up as badly as we did. We took "incompetent" to whole new depth.
  22. Agree Nash. Not arguing mitigation, but some of the reactions are over the top. What he did is hardly a hanging offence in the annals of footy violence was the point I was attempting to make.
