  1. And if you look at where GWS draw their Academy players from its scary. Over the last 30 years the NSW Riverina has produced the likes of Carey, Longmire, Crawford, Kelly, Kirk, Kosi, Barry, Mooney, Cross, Bruest, Isaac Smith and a host of other 100+ game players. Then there's Canberra as well.
  2. The four year deal is the carrot needed for him to change clubs... the rest is just a subjective assessment of how we rate the player.
  3. or PTSD - negligence in regard to their duty of care.
  4. Interesting watching the Brownlow coverage last night. They interviewed a bunch of people including Nat Fyfe's neighbour growing up - Cale Morton. What stood out is that they singled out Fyfe's competitiveness. Morton was the more highly touted junior, but arguably Fyfe was the kid prepared to crawl over broken glass to taste success. Fyfe has a Brownlow and Morton is no longer on an AFL list. I think the club is now onto this.
  5. Interesting. I voted for Josh Kennedy on the 'big fish' thread - this is more a pipe dream than reality though. Look at his game against Freo and tell me he's not worth two first round picks. 28 or not the guy is one of the best going around; whether, its 3,4,5 or 6 years he has left in him - he is elite. Big bodied, good in the air, kicks goals and a clearance machine - I just can't see the Swans wanting to trade him regardless of the talent coming through.
  6. Not sure I'm following this argument. Getting an A grader would improve our depth. Or are people suggesting we get three B graders rather than an A grader and B/C grader in Melksham?
  7. Howe was interested in being traded to Collingwood last year. Wouldn't want Seedsman really considering that the club is after competitors and Seedsman is soft as butter.
  8. Take it for what it's worth, but a PA supporter on BF thinks that Caro's mail on things happening at Alberton are pretty much on the money.
  9. Thanks for sharing GD. Sydney is interesting, they tend to get who they want and their first target is Luey - but they're restricted to 450K so it will make it hard for them, but maybe not impossible given their continued run of finals and the lifestyle on offer up there.
  10. Mmmmmm.... Sacrificial Lamb ggggggarrrrhhhh.
  11. 1 more year to run on his contract, may pay him out, may just wait until next year - particularly in a shallow draft. Ditto for M Jones.
  12. His 'Buddy'*... Boom Tish! *Sorry mods couldn't help myself.
  13. No because the hypothetical isn't grounded in reality. Dangerfield is a FA and Freo wouldn't trade Fyfe like we wouldn't trade Hogan or Brayshaw.
  14. Has skill and pace, but I doubt that the club would want to reunite two of the three amigos, so it's very unlikely he will be at the Dees.
  15. You've been robbed LH, you should have taken out an IP patent to ensure this travesty is avoided otherwise you'll end up like the poor guy* that invented front doors (no IP rights back then I tell ya), and people will be just coming and going without so much as an acknowledgement of his contribution to the greater good. *In the interest of gender equity the front door in all probability was invented by a woman, but 10,000 years of patriarchal oppression means that a male probably took the credit for it.
  16. Ideally matched couple I would have thought. Narcism incarnate. So much for their no DHs policy. This is the same reason I don't want Bennell, highly talented player but someone with some pretty serious off field issues that has shown no inclination to do anything about it. For all intents and purposes a cultural time bomb.
  17. He won't but. His future is in the media not coaching the Melbourne Football Club, we paid a premium to regain some credibility and breathing space and this is part of it. What needs to happen is the club needs to make as transparent as possible the delineation of responsibilities between he and Goodwin for next year. Personally I think Roosy should be given more time to do his media commitments and leave the coaching stuff to Simon.
  18. Another rumour associated with it is that media have the story but the Swans took out an injunction to stop it going to air (or more likely called in some favours).
  19. I think the issue for any club in implementing a recruiting strategy is about how to get better on the field while being able to mitigate the issues off field (given that not all footballers enjoy sitting down and making model airplanes in their downtime). Due diligence is actually risk management, the Swans famously have their 'bloods culture' one of no DHs allowed. When they decided to recruit Buddy they would have done the sort of risk management process that weighed up the off field risks (likelihood and consequences) against the rewards (proven KPP performer with relatively few injury concerns). They paid a very hefty financial premium for his services (another risk) in the hope that the reward (another premiership) would justify the outlay. The warning signal for me would have been his attraction to the 'Bondi lifestyle' and the NRL clique that comes with it. Were his off field behaviours likely to improve or worsen in this environment, and what controls if any could the club put in place? The Swans decided the reward was worth the risk - have they compromised their culture by doing so? From the get go there were rumours and innuendo and concerns about his influence on impressionable players - Hannebery As it happens his other associated off field behaviours may have combined to form a perfect storm that see the Swans loaded with a DH with a 'toxic' contract and a bunch of very unhappy teammates (likelihood and consequence - probability and statistics - you can only defy the odds for so long) Now footy clubs will do what footy clubs do in terms of smoothing the waters, but the churn underneath is whether the situation continues to fester and further undermines the culture.
  20. Use you're imagination. There are a number of rumours some of which are conflated so its hard to keep track, but in short Buddy has a number of issues to deal with and is perhaps persona non grata at the club at the minute.
  21. According to Carolyn Wilson he's pretty much failed to satisfy both the Pies and Dogs of his fitness (his foot is no good). Hard to see him anywhere but at the Blues. Surely they won't get Band 1 compo for Henderson - not that Brock McLean's comments mean anything, but its nice to see leopards don't change their spots.
  22. How has this thread got to two pages already. Delete!
  23. Rumours swirling around that Buddy's on the nose and not that popular with the playing group. Be very interesting if the Swans trade ban is lifted to see which way they swing - a very interesting cultural decision to be made.
