  1. Howe was interested in being traded to Collingwood last year. Wouldn't want Seedsman really considering that the club is after competitors and Seedsman is soft as butter.
  2. In that case he's gorrrrnnnnnn!
  3. Take it for what it's worth, but a PA supporter on BF thinks that Caro's mail on things happening at Alberton are pretty much on the money.
  4. Thanks for sharing GD. Sydney is interesting, they tend to get who they want and their first target is Luey - but they're restricted to 450K so it will make it hard for them, but maybe not impossible given their continued run of finals and the lifestyle on offer up there.
  5. Mmmmmm.... Sacrificial Lamb ggggggarrrrhhhh.
  6. 1 more year to run on his contract, may pay him out, may just wait until next year - particularly in a shallow draft. Ditto for M Jones.
  7. His 'Buddy'*... Boom Tish! *Sorry mods couldn't help myself.
  8. No because the hypothetical isn't grounded in reality. Dangerfield is a FA and Freo wouldn't trade Fyfe like we wouldn't trade Hogan or Brayshaw.
  9. Has skill and pace, but I doubt that the club would want to reunite two of the three amigos, so it's very unlikely he will be at the Dees.
  10. You've been robbed LH, you should have taken out an IP patent to ensure this travesty is avoided otherwise you'll end up like the poor guy* that invented front doors (no IP rights back then I tell ya), and people will be just coming and going without so much as an acknowledgement of his contribution to the greater good. *In the interest of gender equity the front door in all probability was invented by a woman, but 10,000 years of patriarchal oppression means that a male probably took the credit for it.
  11. Ideally matched couple I would have thought. Narcism incarnate. So much for their no DHs policy. This is the same reason I don't want Bennell, highly talented player but someone with some pretty serious off field issues that has shown no inclination to do anything about it. For all intents and purposes a cultural time bomb.
  12. He won't but. His future is in the media not coaching the Melbourne Football Club, we paid a premium to regain some credibility and breathing space and this is part of it. What needs to happen is the club needs to make as transparent as possible the delineation of responsibilities between he and Goodwin for next year. Personally I think Roosy should be given more time to do his media commitments and leave the coaching stuff to Simon.
  13. Another rumour associated with it is that media have the story but the Swans took out an injunction to stop it going to air (or more likely called in some favours).
  14. I think the issue for any club in implementing a recruiting strategy is about how to get better on the field while being able to mitigate the issues off field (given that not all footballers enjoy sitting down and making model airplanes in their downtime). Due diligence is actually risk management, the Swans famously have their 'bloods culture' one of no DHs allowed. When they decided to recruit Buddy they would have done the sort of risk management process that weighed up the off field risks (likelihood and consequences) against the rewards (proven KPP performer with relatively few injury concerns). They paid a very hefty financial premium for his services (another risk) in the hope that the reward (another premiership) would justify the outlay. The warning signal for me would have been his attraction to the 'Bondi lifestyle' and the NRL clique that comes with it. Were his off field behaviours likely to improve or worsen in this environment, and what controls if any could the club put in place? The Swans decided the reward was worth the risk - have they compromised their culture by doing so? From the get go there were rumours and innuendo and concerns about his influence on impressionable players - Hannebery As it happens his other associated off field behaviours may have combined to form a perfect storm that see the Swans loaded with a DH with a 'toxic' contract and a bunch of very unhappy teammates (likelihood and consequence - probability and statistics - you can only defy the odds for so long) Now footy clubs will do what footy clubs do in terms of smoothing the waters, but the churn underneath is whether the situation continues to fester and further undermines the culture.
  15. Use you're imagination. There are a number of rumours some of which are conflated so its hard to keep track, but in short Buddy has a number of issues to deal with and is perhaps persona non grata at the club at the minute.
  16. According to Carolyn Wilson he's pretty much failed to satisfy both the Pies and Dogs of his fitness (his foot is no good). Hard to see him anywhere but at the Blues. Surely they won't get Band 1 compo for Henderson - not that Brock McLean's comments mean anything, but its nice to see leopards don't change their spots.
  17. and Sydney... according to rumours.
  18. How has this thread got to two pages already. Delete!
  19. Rumours swirling around that Buddy's on the nose and not that popular with the playing group. Be very interesting if the Swans trade ban is lifted to see which way they swing - a very interesting cultural decision to be made.
  20. There's a number of issues here. First one is that the GC not only need to get something back for Bennell, they need someone to take on his contract. He's reportedly on good coin, Bennell's not going to take a pay cut if he's got an existing contract that says he earns $X and his new club say we offer you less. Second point is I think you're giving Harley far too much rope in terms of what he would like in terms of surrounding himself with the right people and structures. He pretty much ignored the advice and assistance at GC, I'm not convinced he's learnt his lessons yet.
  21. None of that comes as any great surprise... except Melksham. Competitive and has pace, but also has a terrible haircut. I think all parties would benefit form this if it comes about... Watts for a top ten pick - pen please.
  22. Sean Charles was a fantastic talent, one of the most dynamic players at the club I've seen alongside Jakovich, Farmer, and Jurrah.I also don't think Walker is that bad an option, I think people are being a little unrealistic in terms of what's needed or available. It isn't about how many goals they kick themselves, it's about how many they create for the team. We need a lead up forward with strong hands that is marking the ball forward of the fifty and allowing Hogan to play deeper rather than hunting kicks on the wing. Realistically these players are rarely on the market. You aren't going to prise Tom Lynch away from GC and we couldn't get his namesake from Adelaide. The market is thin, Walker or Tomlinson appear to be the two most likely, or we make do with what we have - against GWS, Dunn played the role on the absence of Dawes/Pedersen, but he's too small (192) to play as an effective chop out ruck (while Walker is a little taller at 196)
  23. Lions sooking in the Age this morning, reckon it might take them another 15 years to win a premiership. I'm guessing their request for a PP (as opposed to generous FA compensation) didn't go that well.
  24. Who is he and why should we believe him?
  25. Love Kahneman, I use his thinking fast, thinking slow theory in teaching operational decision making. It's wonderful how the mind works at filling in the blanks in high risk/ high stakes, compressed time situations, its unfortunate, that most of the time its wrong.
