  1. Agree Nash. Not arguing mitigation, but some of the reactions are over the top. What he did is hardly a hanging offence in the annals of footy violence was the point I was attempting to make.
  2. I think people just need to move on. It was a dumb act, but hardly from the Leigh Matthew's School of thuggery or even in the same league as some of our own have meted out over the years. Many of us playing bush footy would have seen and experienced far worse than this.
  3. I think M Jones (ribs) and maybe Gus (concussion) could be the two.
  4. But Bucks must have seen something there ... right????
  5. I'm thinking this is not the week to have a poor game in the seniors.
  6. Well you'll end up drunk either way.
  7. Sorry.... my bad. It's a little hard to tell around here sometimes.
  8. I've heard him compared to Diesel Williams - albeit he'll be a faster, longer kicking version. His ability to find targets by hand is simply uncanny. The recruiters pulled the right reign on this one. Once he gets another couple of preseasons under his belt he's going to be fearsome. It was exciting watching yesterday to think where our midfield could be in a couple of years. Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca being fed by Gawn. If we can recruit Prestia as well, we are going to be able to do what we did yesterday at a higher more consistent level for a long time.
  9. Hard to tell if you're being serious here Jumbo or taking the pizz. Watts dropped some marks he should have taken, but his intensity and pressure has improved 1000% on previous seasons. There is no way he gets dropped. People can single out players as having 'lost' us the game by a single action, but games are made up of lots of single actions and it rarely comes down to one mistake that games are won or lost. If you are being serious why did you nominate Watts as opposed to AVB who missed a soda from 20 metres and would have tied the game up for us? Outs: AVB - off the pace and not finding enough of it ATM - am a fan but needs to find some touch. Bugg - not sure that he will be dropped, he's hard at it and seems a logical match up for Pendlebury or Sidebottom, but we need to inject more class. Vince - if suspended (hoping for a fine) Ins: Garlett - absolute given Petracca - Cometh the hour, cometh the man - big stage - big opponent. This isn't throwing a boy to the wolves like we did with Watts. If not this week then maybe against the Tigers. I'm excited. Brayshaw - for Vince if suspended. ANB is unlucky to miss out again.
  10. Not as far as I know. I thought it was the correct decision. If it were a Melbourne player though....
  11. By the end we had more interchanges left than them. When Petrie went off with the blood rule they had no interchanges left and we had 6. A harsh lesson for the boys, but the youngsters will learn from the experience. Absolutely baffling why they didn't pay Harmes' mark. I thought experience showed out when it came to staging for frees - though I thought in general last week the umpiring was worse.
  12. Seems like Matthew Lloyd has been talking to some demon supporters* during the week. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-season-2016-melbourne-a-club-in-search-of-a-heart-20160409-go2h29.html If the club wants to redeem itself it will apply the same sort of intensity and pressure it did against Geelong last year. * I deliberately left out the adjectives 'long-suffering' because it is synonymous with following the Dees.
  13. Maybe It's me, but I can't remember Nathan Jones taking too many kick outs before. He did on the weekend and I was ropable. Kicked it to exactly the wrong option (the short gimme in the pocket) - the end result was we turn the ball over from that play. Why on earth would he take the kick out - surely he is one of the players they want on the end of the kick out. To me that was as clear an indication as any that the wheels had well and truly fallen off the wagon.
  14. Not sure how footballers and commentors quantify being 'off'. We're tracking at below 75% of the league standard for pressure acts in our two games to date. I think that's a more accurate measurement than some amorphous figure the've plucked out of the air. It's not a question of inches between winning and losing for us atm, it's miles
  15. It does make you wonder. Dropped as Vice Captain out of the leadership group altogether with barely a murmur. Emergency for the last two weeks, so probably fit to play, but not the automatic inclusion many of us thought he would be. I suspect there are some off field issues atm.
  16. Unless you're Geelong. Stanley, Smith, Clark, Blicavs, Vardy, as well as the raw Lucey and Read (both 200cm +). I know Blicavs doesn't play as a pure ruck man, but he has in the past. Clark and Vardy are perennially injured and you'd have to doubt their ability to remain on the list if they can't get back on the park this year. I suppose when you've won three premierships you can over compensate in some areas. They seem to have put a lot of eggs in only a few baskets. It will be interesting to see what happens as the year unfolds - particularly if Hawkins and Henderson/Lonergan are injured.
  17. In the back half Murphy, Boyd, Morris and Picken all 30 or older and provide most of their drive. Stringer makes their forward line look a lot better than what it is and their rucks are still a worry. Geelong or West Coast I reckon.
  18. We are the shortest odds of any team to win in Rd 2. When was the last time that happened?
  19. With Jeremy Howe rounding out the five... oh wait. One of the stranger recruiting decisions of recent years. Buckley seems to like him- surely their opposition analyst would have been screaming NOOOOOO!!!!
  20. Peter Jackson was on ABC radio pre-game and made the point that there are only ten players still on the list from when Roos first came to the club - and he's only been here since the end of the 2013 season. That's more than 75% of the list. Unbelievable really that we're able to be where we are given that. For those that don't rate GWS (personally I think they're a skid mark on the underpants of the AFL - but they have talent) they should watch some more footy. With their Academy picking the eyes out of the Riverina prospects they have some seriously good youngsters and will continue to do so for a long time.
  21. Has never had one nice word to say about the MFC, sticks the boots in every chance he can.
  22. I think both Gus and Lumumba will both play another game at Casey before being considered. If Lumumba can get back to some good form he releases Vince to midfield and we become a lot more damaging forward of centre. I think Dunn for O Mac is the logical one, but considering we're playing the Bombers, they may go with another runner as well.
  23. I can, (Predictions have a way of making most of us look more like billy goats than Nostradamus most times). Their KPP backs are just about finished, and there are still question marks on their forward line. Their on ball brigade are very good, but while they look unbeatable on their postage stamp home ground, they aren't going to be so dominant on bigger grounds. Having said that Heeny looks like some sort of player and Parker is just a champ.
  24. Dees win, Collingwood getting pantsed - all is right with the world.
  25. Yet you watched it before with Robbo???? The only reason ever to watch it is the occasional insight by GW & Roos who isn't on this year. Judging by the segment where they were driving around with the players in the car I won't be watching it much this year either - the lunatics are running the assylum.
