  1. Enright out of outgoing players. Has a connection with McCartney too. I'd also be open to Lappin or Yze.
  2. Settle down guys, it was only GoldCoast.
  3. I think by mid-season we could see the kid get tagged. He just initiates so much for us.
  4. Reckon I'd take Prestia in this instance...
  5. ??? Look again.
  6. But at what cost do you compromise your principles of making kids earn their way into the AFL side? I think someone like ANB would feel rightly aggrieved if Oliver were included without having to prove in the VFL he hadn't lost form due to a week off. Prior to rest, Oliver's impact on matches had been lessening. I'm interested in playing the long game here, even if it costs us a win or 2 this season.
  7. So they should be, and they're after everyone aren't they? So should we be. Hard. The missing ingredient: hard running classy rangey wingman who can win his own footy.
  8. Seb Tape was one out of the box at the time, and was given early games but has fallen off the map so much I forgot he existed. Not sure that it was a draft blessed with great depth though.
  9. Again, sorry.
  10. Never seen a kid swho is so incredibly clean at such an early stage. He's Ablett-like. That cleanliness is what separates the great players. But then he also always manages to get his arms free and nearly always hits a teammate in space. Just... baffling that he can be so good at this stage. And as a postscript, I'm really beginning to regret my comments about Oliver playing like Voss and loudly referring to himself in the 3rd person as being the Vossy train in packs. Ol mate picket has really run with it, and I want everyone else to know I'm sorry.
  11. I'd love Prestia at the club, but after a tall like Hurley, my priority would be on a better runner. I would aim for Whitfield more than anyone, or Kelly or Gaff.
  12. Come on mate, he missed that last one!
  13. I read/heard (can't remember which) Roos saying that Brayshaw would be given a solid block of 3-4 weeks in the VFL to build some consistency.
  14. It's fair to say McDonald couldn't have kept it in when collecting the ball just on the boundary line, but he was also the player that deliberately flicked the ball into that position to begin with. I don't understand why this wouldn't be obvious?
  15. Not at all. McDonald spoiled, deliberately flicking the ball away with an open hand, directing it 20m+ toward the boundary, then followed up to see it out. A punch to spoil that travels 20m to go out of bounds would be pegged as deliberate, and that is harder to direct than the flick executed by McDonald, sending the ball perpendicular to where he was facing. Deliberated act, and paid as such.
  16. I don't think you understand the situation; Port aren't able to give up a local home game because of the ongoing stadium deal the SANFL has tied them to. It's bloody mess of a deal and it would have most asking the question of "why did Port try getting involved in China when they can't even move a home game there?" As with most things, the answer is $. To my understanding, Port now have a handsome new sponsorship deal with a Chinese conglomerate, one I believe has been trying to curry some local favour in attempt to purchase the Kidman cattle holding that the Federal govt yesterday blocked as it was not in the public interest. Where to now, I wonder? This probably belongs in another thread though...
  17. I feel like this thread has given me whiplash.
  18. We didn't just get Garlett cheaply, Carlton were silly enough to give him to us as he was entering the best years of his career. Mind you, he probably needed the change from Carlton before he would ever reach these heights.
  19. NFI then. I noticed at that stage that all our players seemed to be struggling to adjust to the foreign night-match dewy conditions. A few errors were to be expected, but to write him off based on that is our foolishness.
  20. You're a little unhinged, but I believe he'll be back. It was a little hissy fit, a bit of attention seeking / pouting combo, but as the team improves he won't be able to stay away. You don't get to the point of posting on this forum unless you're beyond the point of return already.
  21. Great to see Jack get in there, but rather than the whack I'd have been asking Rance how it feels to know that your coach is a dead man walking and it's all your fault?
  22. Fair enough. I long held out hope for him, just because he seems like a good bloke & worked his guts out for the club during some lean years. Over time his body of work has shown no real improvement in his stiff and robotic skill execution, his decision-making or his ability to eliminate basic errors. I think I expected as much because it perfectly matches my opinion of him: good bloke; wish him all the best; sadly not good enough for me to ever want to see him in our 22 again; and unfortunately I don't think there'd be much interest for a guy that other clubs would pinpoint as a weakness when he is in our 22. I do hope he gets another 2 matches though, because clearly his genes are conducive to producing AFL players.
