  1. We essentially traded a 2015 2nd round pick for Melksham to come onto our list on a 3 year deal for 2017 season onwards, with the possibility of him coming across for an early bonus year in 2016. Doesn't sound like a horrible deal, especially remembering that you need to pay overs to bring in established talent from opposing clubs, and we sorely needed to increase our quality depth. Focusing on the opportunity, rather than what has been potentially lost.
  2. Had dinner with an Essendon staff member tonight. Unsurprisingly the playing list has been given two days off & were hitting the grog hard tonight. Those inside the club actually were expecting a good result and were floored by the 12 month penalty.
  3. Doubt it. More like we'll have the opportunity to elevate a rookie immediately.
  4. ^^^ critical lack of understanding of player load management and how the rehab groups are linked to this.
  5. Yeah, but his first name is Colin.
  6. I reckon you can put Harmes, Bugg and Kennedy in that lot too. Some might doubt the 2nd two, but I doubt we brought them across to play VFL. Strength in numbers at the very least.
  7. Based on your years of medical experience and close inspection of the injury...
  8. As opposed to the default presumption that he will be forever injury-riddled and never take the field again.
  9. I can remember lower points in the last 2 years. It's hyperbole from the chief peddler.
  10. I'm sure plenty of dees supporters boo Scully or Frawley, yet within the same breath will be espousing the virtues of Hogan & Brayshaw.
  11. Yes, that much is obvious. But it is still what we'd be hoping for. To attempt to draw that parallel with Roos is futile, because he certainly won't be around long enough.
  12. Surely Goodwin would want to be drawing parallels with Smith, not Roos. lf we are to be dragged out of the mire and toward glory, he will be the one to do it. His appointment will determine our fate more than most. And I'm very happy that for the first year in many, I do not hope or expect our draftees to come in & play any significant role in 2016.
  13. I want to support the women's game, but I think if it were kept on a separate forum I'd never look at it.
  14. Love Grimes for his endeavour, but how could you have him in the side when he repeatedly makes the mistakes he did in that match? i know he's under immense pressure, but you need someone in that position who won't succumb so readily & often.
  15. they wouldn't want to follow your example then Wayne, would they? FMD you've exited the realm of hilariously stupid and are now just plain obnoxious. TTFN x
  16. It's not really, it's just offseason filler. Except every club runs preseason camps like this and it has actually been planned by the coaching dept and leadership/high performance consultants rather than a poorly conceived series of boxing sessions by a poorly qualified meathead with subpar leadership skills?
  17. I'm guessing the details of what the camp would consist of were kept secret from the players prior to getting there, nothing more. Putting them out of their comfort zone and challenging them in completely unexpected ways.
  18. Is this a serious thread?
  19. Bugger, you're right. Might push the prospect of attending beyond my grasp.
  20. Terlich wins the footy on the halfback flank, but is a pure turnover merchant and has average defensive kills. I'm not surprised he bears a grudge for not getting games after being handed a false sense of competence with a top 5 B&F finish. I also won't be surprised when he is unceremoniously de-listed at season's end.
  21. Wealth acquired entirely ethically and legally, I'm sure.
  22. Is it baffling? The government introduces a scheme involving poorly regulated subsidies for services rendered, and a litany of organisations take advantage of it until public acceptance/ignorance wears thin. Then we move onto the next. Par for the course really.
  23. Forget Jimmy's health, the majority of his time in charge reeked of poor decision-making.
