  1. Changes? Leach & Ox in the morning is it?
  2. So he went well outside the top 20? What a shock. They're assembling quite the rag tag bunch of moronic loose cannons up there. Mathieson, Mitch Robinson, Allen Christiansen, Dayne Beams... They just need to bring Beamer & Sylvia out of retirement.
  3. Where did Rhys Mathieson end up? I reckon he'll be a superstar like Eli Templeton.
  4. I never wanted him in the first place.
  5. Yeah, not sure that's exactly true, just because you've never heard of them...
  6. He reminds me of Tom McDonald or Troy Davis. Who knows which one he'll end up being more like.
  7. Is that a difference? I think most people thought the same.
  8. Great to see Cal Twomey's accurate as ever Phantom Draft. He's an astute observer. Does anyone know when he his scheduled to do his traditional last-second revision based on club leaks and nothing more?
  9. I've been convinced that Oliver is the best choice for us at 3, but what you said above is just silly. 180cm is perfectly fine.
  10. The "trading up" to pick 3 also included acquiring pick 10, which we presumably knew (or hoped) we'd be able to eventually move to GWS for pick 7. It was about getting next year's 1st rounder this year, so we can get an earlier pick and get a year's development into that pick ahead of time.
  11. I think you're bang on, although he does sometimes find himself running into 50 in a lot of space and always seems to have a lot of time, giving the illusion that he is fast.
  12. I think Quigley is a keen observer and notices a lot of things that others don't, but I sometimes question his understanding of how certain traits will translate to AFL level and what attributes a player may be lacking that they would need to be a real success at the next level. Not that I'm an expert. I often go off "feel" then try to understand why I felt that. For instance, Francis doesn't quite do it for me, and I think it's because athletically I don't feel he'll ever be able to cover enough ground to have the impact Quigs expects. And I think he may often undervalue the impact of that athleticism in a player; what it will allow them to do at the next level (like a Parish, who I think will blossom). I also think he doesn't value certain attributes enough, like the contested marking, character and competitiveness of Weideman, and undervalues him because he lacks certain attributes that may not be necessary to play the role he will fill at AFL level. Just my observation. As others have said, Quigs is an astute viewer.
  13. I don't think this is correct at all. No idea why the change though. Maybe an adjustment for teams that aren't able to bid and therefore utilise more picks than spare list spots?
  14. You're right, but I couldn't be bothered editing it after I realised. Substitute for Jarryd Blair.
  15. I was convinced that Toumpas and Aish were going to be elite classy mids. Might still happen, but my judgment clearly can't be trusted. Still, I'm happy to form and give opinions and I'm under-enthused about the KPFs available, but I want Parish. He's different to what we already have and would add a level of polish that would really help to elevate our midfield.
  16. This is where behaviour, character and attitude take precedence over pure talent at this early point of the draft.
  17. I thought it was a sarcastic assertion that Toumpas provided exactly what we'd be likely to receive from Parish, and your agreement. If not, that's fine. I think my point probably still stands about the contrast between the 2.
  18. There's a distinct difference though, between Parish & Toumpas. Toumpas is an outside runner, his bread & butter is getting on the end of handball receives and looseballs. The pressure has made him crumble and make poor decisions. Parish looks to win contested footy and uses it so quickly. He does the opposite of crumbling under the pressure; he anticipates it, makes quick decisions accordingly and EXECUTES. Even look at the highlights of the 2 pre-draft. Toumpas was running fast unattended on the wing, kicking long range goals. Nearly every "highlight" was a looseball get. I don't argue that he was a hard runner for us, but he never displayed a willingness to get involved in the hot contest as a junior. Parish mostly gets his footy in close in his highlights, moves quickly, makes quick decisions, absorbs pressure, hits targets without panicking. Big contrast to my eyes.
  19. Mick Turner's opinion of any falcons player should be wholeheartedly ignored. He invented hyperbole.
  20. Recovered from injury maybe, but returned to full fitness? It's not like the kid has just finished putting in a full preseason.
