  1. Rather damning. Doesn't look like something that a switch can be flicked on 😬
  2. Alrighty then. Sam Gravenall coached Essendon for only 12 games in 2022. Albeit from a small sample size, Sam's win/loss record is behind only Craig McCrae's, Chris Scott's and John Longmire's, of the current crop of coaches. But it is another, unique, aspect he brings that qualifies him to front @Roger Mellie's team.
  3. Still at home, KC! Nice way to start the season, back-to-back at Fortress KC 😁
  4. Cometh the footy, cometh the amnesia. But now reminded, it does feel so yesterday, Mr Stone! Still, if anyone's still interested - @WalkingCivilWar? @layzie? @Turner? - what complete set of premiership numbers would the men's premiership team contain if you put the numbers of the four replacements into it?
  5. Thanks for keeping these alive, Mr Stone 🙂. I'm tempted to clue, but @Roger Mellie should have first (and last?) go at that, I think...
  6. Bit of a soft spot for Norwood. The consistent presence of a 'Team of the Red and the Blue' on the teev in September and - with ultimate success 4 times - into the weekend after the VFL had wound up, was a sneaky consolation in our dark 70s and early 80s. Almost up with occasional MFC reserves and under 19s and Sandy Zebras successes. (Re Canberra, surely the AFL could not afford GWS's loss of that market (I use that word advisedly!...))
  7. I think the modern vernacular is, 'Well, that pivoted!'
  8. And here's another good reason to be there - Reach Round: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1292542/melbourne-and-reach-to-kick-start-change
  9. All good to hear. A shame, though, that it (and consequent footy matters) pretty quickly overshadowed the main purpose of the conference (despite Watts's brave effort to bring it back). Anyway, this might allow normal programming to resume: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1293514/injury-update-gawn-salem-join-rehab-group
  10. Thanks @Dees_In_October. Makes sense. May also be a component of passing on a range of 'seniors' experience to the squad?
  11. Poita (or others) what does this categorisation mean? There doesn't seem to be anything consistently special (or lacking) in the named players. Why can't any of the AFLW listeds play, subject to the 10/game limit?(
  12. Looks a bit Jakovitchy?
  13. That's glass half full. That's glass two-thirds full. That's Numberwang!
  14. "No hairdressers working at the moment in Footscray." "Not well, anyway." 😆
  15. Opened 15-love, on serve, then shuffled out in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. 👍👏
  16. So, by the nature of Maggie C's departure (best wishes, Maggie) the premiers remain entirely 'unpoached'? Extraordinary. Pride-inducing, too.
  17. 1 Like for me, EO, 3 Loves for you. So there is such a thing as going off early... 😄
  18. 5 now. Update it James! Nah. Still wrong.
  19. Brayshaw: "A long time since someone's kicked 4 against Geelong" LOL. 18 months, James.
  20. Impressive @Big Col, and thanks @DeelightfulPlay. For me, too, it's the kind of thing I'd be all over. As in, I'm (all) over it.
  21. Media work experience kid wrote down 'one of the bendy bits'...
  22. One - count them, ONE - player on the injury list. Unprecedented? (#🦟😬)
  23. Too many to 👍 individually. Thanks all posters for a nice combo of memories, facts and trivia.
  24. What you've all said above, about the club and Brian, and then some! Wikipedia reminds me he is believed to be the only player to have won a Brownlow Medal at his third club and, at 20 years of age, he was the youngest winner since Bob Skilton won his first medal in 1959. His and Peter Moore's medals were little rays of sunshine in the dark days. He finally participated in the club's relative success in 1987 and '88. I remember the expectation on him as the only player in the '87 squad to have played finals. Footnote: Curious that the medal 'landed on [GP's] desk' 3 months ago? I guess they had to do a bit of checking, for example for authenticity. And maybe a bit of (successful but secret?) sleuthing?
